Not that I want to spoil your fun, but you have heard of people dying from playing too long right? My only advice is to play as long as you like, as long as you get 8hrs of sleep per night. Also, time travelling can have nasty consequences. I'd avoid that as well.

Ever since they evolved from slime they've been working on getting to space. Why do you think they invented rockets before planes?
-
I never consider anything old, so it all stays up there!

It's basically that the processor can handle 64 bits at a time. Think of it as a race track. If you want the result for 64 athletes, and you only have 32 lanes, you need to run 2 races. You only need 1 if you have 64 lanes. 64 bit architecture allows a 64 bit number to be processed twice as fast because it handles it in one cycle rather than 2 for 32 bit.

If you think it's hard getting 1 on a lander, try getting 5 or 6 on a lander! I'm happy with the size, but I tend to build fairly big. Besides, it has lots of science in it, in needs to be big!

For the game yes, for addons/DLC there is no guarantee they would be free. For this one it is free, but in future other DLC may cost money.

No need to show off your aircraft piloting skills, being able to land on the runway and all...

True, but the code review might mean they have rewrite the code almost from scratch. Just because code works, doesn't mean it should be implemented that way. It may be implemented in such a way that the developers know will break in a future update. This is the point I am trying to make. I frequently do code reviews in my job, and often have to scrap what was done simply because it violates design principles that are in place due to product roadmap.

I am in an escape trajectory out of KSP...
Merinsan replied to Commissioner Tadpole's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I'm in the same situation. I have 9 ships about to enter Jool SOI, but I haven't started KSP for about 3 weeks. I want to set up the station they are for around Pol, but it seems like work... So, I've been monitoring the forums, while playing other games. -
Kerbal Kommunity Meetup at GDC - Wednesday March 19
Merinsan replied to Rowsdower's topic in KSP1 Discussion
If these things I build in game were real, I'd be there. As it is, it's too far to go from Australia.. -
Most people just click "next" without reading. I only just noticed 1 week ago I could choose an installation directory for a game with Steam (I don't use it much). My son has know for quite a while, since he has an old machine with almost no disk space on C:

Pros for Steam: Auto update Cons for Steam: 1 more process running in the background (Steam) I have Steam, but I don't have KSP on Steam, and I wont do it either. I don't like Steam because of some of the DRM stuff they have (for other games), so it's more on principle that I don't use it. I am forced to use Steam in some cases because their are games I want that are only available on Steam - even if I walk into a shop to buy it. The biggest problem with using Steam is if they ever disappear, you might have a problem. It is unlikely in the near future, but the point is you have 2 points of failure - Steam and KSP, rather than the one if you go through the store.

Rover Adventures - Around Kerbin NEEDS YOUR HELP!
Merinsan replied to Wooks's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I must see what happens! I am now subscribed! Oh, and I vote for a transport ship. -
Sometimes I feel bad about what I do to my kerbals.
Merinsan replied to michaelphoenix22's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I once had a "Science Station" on a high, 45 degree orbit. There were 2 Kerbals on board. Everytime I looked in on them, they were screaming their heads off. I never quite worked out what was making them so scared. Was it the fact there was no fuel or engines? The high orbit? The high inclination? Or maybe it was the fact that they had been there for about 10 years. Even when I sent a ship up to them, they still seemed unhappy, so I left them there... -
I change the graphics to maximum resolution and fullscreen, that is all.
-
Yay! I now need to see it myself...it's luck a good luck omen when it comes up for me.

How many of you have landed on Eve and returned?
Merinsan replied to mr_yogurt's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I was all set to do it then an update come out, and the mission was scrapped as I started a new save. I should try again. -
You do realize that anyone who has done that would not be on the forum anymore, right? I'll admit I haven't played for a while, but I'm taking a break, I'll play again soon. Almost did last night, but I wont uninstall. In fact, I have games installed on my system that are years old.

3-Man Command Pod: Why?
Merinsan replied to RocketBlam's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
To build a 3 Kerbal tower. To do an Apollo style mission. To restock Kerbals at a base (they have a habit of driving rovers too fast) I want my ship to look cool, not like some one stuck a crew can on for extra space. Besides, it's much easier to land a single 2 man pod than 2 lander cans, when returning to Kerbin. -
Indeed it does. Unfortunately, the first time I tried it, it left me with ship that had no pilot...
-
I approve of this approach to solving the problem. I can just imagine the tourists arriving home and being ushered into a debriefing area, where they have a convenient travelator that drops them into a grinder.
-
If this is a Challenge, it should be in the Challenge forum and not General. I have launched a rover about the same size as yours to other planets a few times. I'm not a screen shot nut so I generally don't capture screenshots. Getting to other planets is easy. Landing them is hard, especially since I don't like to keep the engines attached after landing - I always separate them to fly away and crash.
-
I'll admit I too have not seen it in a long time. I used to see it on a fairly regular basis (ie once every month), but since 0.23 (or even 0.22) I haven't seen it. I have been missing it.

I like to see flames licking the windows on the command module as I push through the atmosphere, because it looks cool! Normally though I aim for middle of the road. I need to get up to 200m/s as soon as possible, and stay there until able 10km, then push it all the way up.
