You read the wrong news. Anyway what would be the reason to develop a manned spacecraft if all the destinations for manned spaceflight are already accessible soon by a range of manned spacecraft from international Partners? Hermes only made sense in combination with the free flying Columbus. Not with an international Space station.

I meant equivalent in that they are put up in a single launch, not necessarily comparable in mass. -

If by ISS alternative you mean a modular space station, they want to start building one next year. This Tiangong 1 and Tiangong 2 are equivalent to the eary Russian stations or Skylab. -

Lagrange points sadly don‘t exist in KSP thanks to a slightly simplified model of orbital mechanics.

I think it makes sense once you attach a heatshield to the capsule. no need to make the lander can even lighter -

The lander was removed very early on but wasn‘t cancelled i think. Just moved to a seperate launcher at a later date.
