I can tell you that clouds will come eventually. -
You can still use part mods like NovaPunch and KW rocketry if you don't like autopilots. And there are many Mods that ad things that you can't do in the game right now. I recommend Mapsat and RemoteTech.

The only "cheaty" feature of ORDA is the Teleport to target feature. Orda is only a docking auto pilot unlike MechJeb.

I play KSP on the most recent MacBook Pro and i am still surprised of how good it works.

In this video by Rhys Taylor it uses the Pusher Plate as landing gear, wouldn't that be a possibility?

Only the delta glider and a few mods are overpowered. The rest of the crafts are pretty realistic in terms of performance.

Skunky, whats so unrealistic about little green men? You can't deny that KSP is next to orbiter on of the more realistic space flight games/simulators. But i still think that the planets sizes shouldn't be changed.

I think a 3meter version is the biggest you need to make. There are only a few bigger mods than that.(A bigger version would still be nice:))

I just noted this yesterday. I was decoupling my service module and then noticed that my capsule lit up like magnesium candle while the SM was just glowing red.

No, they don't bother me at all. Those are just Easter Eggs and not gameplay related. KSP is a game/half simulator about "realistic" spaceflight, meaning as based on Newtonian physics, with some fun elements. FTL would contradict the whole concept of KSP.
