Indeed. I had a hard time deciding who was the biggest idiot. The narrator or the commenter. Conclusion: The narrator is the idiot, the commenter is down right annoying.

Tonight - lunar occultation of μ Piscium
Tex_NL replied to lajoswinkler's topic in Science & Spaceflight
On a clear night I can see literally thousands of stars straight out of my back yard. If I would drive out of town for only a few km thousands multiply to tens of thousands. (I live in a relatively rural area with no heavy industry of major cities for dozens of km.) Are you really going to tell me there are absolutely NO stars blocked by the moon when I look up on a regular night? -
I know I am going way off topic here but did anybody notice the topic title is a huge contradictio in terminis. An oxymoron. El Niño translates to 'the child' or 'the small one'. Mega is used to emphasize an enormous scale. The topic title calls it both huge and tiny at the same time.

Tonight - lunar occultation of μ Piscium
Tex_NL replied to lajoswinkler's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Really? That's it? The moon blocks a star. Wow! Like that never happens! Thousands of stars get occluded by the moon each and every night. But you're right, to each his own. -

A what in the what-what? Could you be a tiny bit more informative please? I, and I suspect many others, have NO idea what you're talking about. -
Correct. But it's easier (and clearer) if you put your example between and . Then your example wiill look exactly like it should look in the editor: stuff

Question still remains: Why would you? It's like going back to twigs and leaves after the invention of toilet paper.

How can I make ship tiles bigger?
Tex_NL replied to jiminator's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Just like the the comment section is visible in the load screen for sub assemblies it should be too for complete ships. -
Let me make clear I do NOT support any theory here. I am just being rational and observant. Without full disclosure you can not make a definitive conclusion. And it's a solid fact Russia does not give full disclosure. Even if they say they do they don't.
-
At the risk of becoming political. It's typical Russian not to admit a mistake. Ever. It's seen as a weakness. It was true during the cold war, it is still true today. With that in mind it would not surprise me Gagarin wasn't the first man in space. All we know for sure is he was the first to come back alive. - - - Updated - - - Disclosing your cold war victories and successes is easy. Disclosing your cold war failures and mistakes is an entirely different matter.
-
Pretty sure you're talking about this one: Long story short: yes, if the planets/moon where not on rails in theory you could move them. However it would take aeons if it would not grind your PC to a halt long before that.

What a waste of money. I can't believe universities actually spend money on pseudo-science like this. Even calling this pseudo-science gives this crap too much credit. All the iron bar does is serve as a physical marker to represent the overall success on both slot machines. The same thing can easily be done with pen and paper. (+1 for a win on machine A, -1 for a loss. And -1 for a win on B and +1 for a loss.) That iron bar does not make ANY decision. The operator does!

Who do I have to bribe to get stock hinges?
Tex_NL replied to borzwazie's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Robotics / mechanics IS on the WNTS. Fourth item under Major features. -
Upgraded from 4 to 8GB today. Entire PC, and especially KSP, runs a lot smoother. And before people start screaming: 'But KSP is 32bit and can't use more than 3.8GB' I know, all true. But it still does help on win7 64bit. KSP might not be able to use anything over 3.8GB other programs can. Background programs like virus scanner, drivers and win7 itself no longer compete with KSP for the 3.8GB it CAN use.

Incredible how people can give the nearly exact same answer four days after the question has been answered.

Strange EC/Charge Issue
Tex_NL replied to Nori's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Did you turn on SAS? Since you're resting on the engine nozzle any gimballing will induce a wobble in the lander pod which the reaction wheels are trying to counteract. -
Tell that to the 2977 who died in the 9-11 attacks.

You could take a look at B9 Aerospace. I haven't used it myself for a long time but as I remember it has some nice shielded lights. When switched on they open up, when switched off they close again. In the past they always served me well as landing lights. N.B. B9 Aerospace is a LARGE mod. It requires quite a bit off memory. Your system might not be capable of running it if you already have a few other large mods.

How do clouds form on waterless planets?
Tex_NL replied to Sharkman Briton's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Exactly. Who says all clouds are water vapour? Venus is covered with a thick dense cloud layer. It's much too hot for liquid water and the Venusian atmosphere contains only half a percent of the amount of water in Earth's atmosphere. -
Point is; they are NOT needed. Period! The cold war is over. Scare tactics won't work any more. Even if in the most unlikeliest of cases some rogue state does launch a nuclear strike nobody in the western world. And I do mean NOBODY will retaliate with a nuclear counter strike. Doing so will be 'MAD' Mutual Assured Destruction. I am no pacifist, I do believe in a strong military. But not to scare others into submission or to enslave others to your values and believes. Only for precision surgical strikes with minimal collateral damage. If only a fraction of the annual military budget of certain nations (*cough* USA *cough*) would be spend on actually helping struggling nations instead of forcing them into submission there would not be a need for sabre rattling at all.
-
Actually, the heat shields have the correct colour. This one comes directly from www.nasa.gov: And this one is the actual prototype shield for the new Orion craft:
-
Sure they did launch military equipment and got military funding. That still does not 'justify' turning it into a dedicated delivery system for a nuclear apocalypse.

[11/26/15 Update] Say Hello to the Light-Green Group!
Tex_NL replied to Endersmens's topic in Kerbal Network
I made it VERY clear I am NOT attacking ANYONE! And it return attack me for it? Did YOU even bother to read? I honestly don't care where he, you or anybody else for that matter get their rep from. So much rep in such a little time raises questions and people do jump to conclusions rather quickly. The rep system is rotten in the core and can easily be exploited. I totally understand people wishing to be a part of it no longer. To be honest I am actually considering to join them in their quest. Again; this is NOT a personal attack on ANYBODY!
