  1. "Control from here" is very accessible in ANY situation before launch. You just have to zoom in and rotate the camera with Middle Mouse. Or even easier; change the root part in the VAB/SPH to the Probodobodyne core. (Yes, its Probodobodyne. Not Protobodyne.) No new features needed for things that are already in the game.
  2. 1: In the top-middle of both the map and tracking station screen is a pull down menu. Clicking the various icons will either add or remove them from the visible list. 2: When renaming a ship you can not only change the name but also the type of craft. Combine 1 and 2 and any craft can be visible or hidden at will at any one time. You can even change name and type from the tracking station by clicking the name in the info screen on the right hand side of the screen.
  3. That show, "Weird or What" is infamous for pseudo-science like that. They usually do give a logical explanation but choose to completely ignore it in favour of less likely one. And sadly Discovery Science has a number of other shows in that same category: Alien Mysteries, UFO Encounters, Ten Ways. Pretty much anything that deals with alien's, UFO's, conspiracy theories and the likes.
  4. Yes and no. If you actually want a paintbrush tool to spray ablator on to parts things might become difficult. The game would have to keep track of each and every section of everything that is or isn't painted. This could potentially slow the game down to seconds per frame instead of frames per second. However one could do it along the lines of B9 Aerospace. Cycle through a number of pre-painted textures each with their own set of ablator settings. This will limit your options slightly but in turn keeps the game playable.
  5. That would explain why I have not run into this bug myself. I do a lot of rescue missions but don't use USI OKS/MKS.
  6. Not sure if it's stock or mod related but this a well reported bug. There are about half a dozen threads about it already.
  7. Yesterday I mentioned my latest project, an ungodly large spaceshuttle. Well here it is: The Star of Milos. Obviously it relies heavily on TweakScale. Lift off! Yes, it is indeed that big. It dwarfs the watertower and the flagpole. Booster separation. Jettison the nose tank. To give you an idea of scale, the cockpit, tail fins and Rhino engines have not been TweakScaled. And neither have those 5 fully loaded large ore containers. 90tons of cargo safely to 100*100km orbit. A fiery re-entry Coming in for landing. Made it home safely.
  8. To power a Venusian rover what about microwave radiation? A satellite in orbit could collect all the solar power it needs and beam down a focussed beam of microwaves towards the rover. This bean can be converted into usable energy. To survive the hazardous atmosphere a rover would have to be heavily shielded anyway, the additional microwaves would not hurt it. And you don't have to bother about accidentally frying indigenous life as there isn't any. (And if there happens to be life it's safe to assume it's well used to the harsh conditions and the radiation doesn't harm it.)
  9. Of course it is possible a new, modern TV will only accept a digital signal though I highly doubt it. An analogue decoder is very basic, simple and cheap technology but still very relevant. If your new TV only accepts digital you should buy a better TV.
  10. Are you aware of the existence of mods?
  11. Getting all that equipment and pre-assembled rocket parts up a high enough mountain would be a logistical nightmare.
  12. The projectile does not need to be magnetic. Even non-ferrous metals would work. Any rapid change in a magnetic field will induce an eddy current in any conductor inside that field. This eddy current in turn induces its own magnetic field opposite to the original field. The opposed fields will repel each other, ejecting the conductor from the magnetic coil.
  13. Obviously there is a much more economic solution to oversized Zeppelins: a carrier plane. SpaceshipOne and WhiteKnight. It does work to go suborbital (barely) but without much more dV to spend on horizontal velocity you won't reach orbit.
  14. Currently I am working on my biggest shuttle ever. It's so ungodly oversized (I LOVE TweakScale) it barely fits in the VAB both in height and width. The cargo bay can almost fit three orange Jumbo-64 tanks lengthwise and a single sideways. (Two Mk2 CRG-08 cargo bays TweakScaled to 3.75m.) Empty launch weight is close to 700 tons and it can carry roughly 100 tons to low orbit with fuel to spare. But the cockpit is still Kerbal sized. Pictures will follow soon after I perfected it.
  15. It shows how you can only know the outcome by observing it. And the simple act of observing might change the outcome.
  16. This statement oozes prejudice! As a long time biker (on both sides of the North sea) I know all too well driving a bike caries a greater risk than driving a car. Well actually, the risks are pretty equal. It's just that the consequences on a bike are that much greater. Driving a bike is all about YOUR mindset. If you drive it like a maniac then you'll probably won't make it home in one piece. If you drive responsibly and defensive you'll be okay. There is of course a compromise in your transportation dilemma. Get a 50cc moped. They are relatively cheap both in purchase and insurance. In most countries they only require a very simple and basic drivers license. And most of all they beat cycling any day of the week.
  17. It's confirmed. The debris found on Reunion is from flight MH370. http://edition.cnn.com/2015/08/05/world/mh370-investigation/index.html
  18. Schrödinger's cat! Without opening the sphere there is no way to know what's exactly happening inside and if the light is still there. But by opening the sphere the light, it is was still there, will surely escape.
  19. Same here. My fleet of shuttles is named after mythological giants. Currently there are: Polyphemus: Generic shuttle with large cargo bay. Argus: Long range (beyond Mun) with medium cargobay for vessel recovery missions. Nephilim: Unmanned medium range heavy lifter with large cargo bay.
  20. Really? Absolutely NO RF input in your TV? Most modern TV's still have the round coaxial RF input even though it's used for digital input (or old fashioned analogue TV). Try unplugging that one and use it for your NES. If all else fails instead of converting to HDMI you might find it easier to convert the RF signal to SCART or composite RCA. Don't waste money/time/energy on converting to digital when you don't have to. Converters are sold on eBay for $20-30.
  21. On Kerbin the dV required for vertical altitude is only a fraction of what's required for horizontal speed. On Eve balloons could lift you above the thickest atmosphere but on Kerbin it's hardly worth the effort.
  22. I've never played Minecraft and I've seen, heard and read more than enough to make sure I never will. KSP over Minecraft ANY day of the week. What's keeping me away from Minecraft the most is the graphics. Some people think those blocky graphics is one of the selling points of Minecraft but it makes me want to puke. . I can accept graphics like that in a 1980's game like 3D Wolfenstein but not in a modern one.
  23. Nobody said YOU are the one that's supposed to update them. It's just that those who can won't do it.
  24. It's just a nice publicity stunt. Don't expect to own one of those any time soon. Without room temperature superconductors this kind of levitation is not an economical solution.
