  1. Well I was tryin to launch something really big, so I spent about 20 minutes waiting for about a minute and a half in-game at less than 1fps... and then I decoupled my outer engines and realised I hadn't put struts to support the huge payload on the inner engines and my ship very slowly crumpled in upon itself.
  2. That's really cool. Imagination is such a great thing. How cool would it be if they actually put one or more of these planets in, or something similar, really far out, but left it uncharted until you became close enough to detect it in some way. It'd be so amazing to be the first player to find it.
  3. It seems to be hanging in the air in much the same way that bricks don't.
  4. I thought it might be to make it look like Wall-E.
  5. Thankyou, this is indeed what I meant. It's technically a sphere but looks like a ring to an observer because from our perspective the outside is thicker than the inside. I know it's not like the Deathstar explosion in the edited versions of Star Wars or anything.
  6. Obviously there are plenty of things in KSP that breach reality for practical, gameplay or aesthetic purposes, but how would people feel about having more realistic space explosions? There is no atmosphere in space, so an explosion would not look like that on Earth. If I'm not mistaken, it would create a gradually dissipating ring as there is no pressure to push it into funny shapes. I imagine some people would rather keep it how it is, like sound in space, some things are preferable even if not realistic. I just think it could look interesting.
  7. This is the same thing as tidal locking that occurs with moons, right?
  8. Presumably in the Hitchhiker storage containers.
  9. Well, you never know, maybe it will be a surprise super-hit and sell millions, and then they would release a boxed version. I guess that's not too likely though, the average gamer probably doesn't have the patience for KSP.
  10. It would be cool if we could make submarines or underwater probes for exploring places like Laythe and Eve's oceans.
  11. CITIZENS: Mayor, we're out of power! All our electricity is going into your space program! JEB: MOAR SRBs!
  12. I was making a large ship for going interplanetary and then I tried making a launcher for it, but I couldn't get one that could lift the weight without exploding. So I went and downloaded a heavyweight launcher from the spaceport... but I don't know how to connect it to my ship. There must be a way. I've seen youtubers use the same launchers for different payloads many times.
  13. Glad it was a success but needs more nominality. I've got to ask, why bother sending up a purposeless mass simulator payload when you can just launch some sort of payload that would actually be useful if the launch was a success? I mean, yes, it would of course cost more than the simulator payload, but is it that much compared to the cost of the rocket itself? If the test fails you've wasted the payload, if it succeeds you've kind of wasted the rocket (except that it gives you info on what to do next time, but you get that regardless of the payload). I don't know, just my thoughts.
  14. Yeah, I'm not sure but don't all ships need some sort of radiators? Even without any heat generating parts, they'd get a lot of heat from the sun.
  15. Will this game ever include thermal radiators that are needed to prevent ships from overheating?
  16. I chose no, because, while it was a pretty cool looking ship, if it's a waste of money, it's only limiting.
  17. Well I haven't checked the specs BUUT if I have anything else running it's about 95% likely to crash on my second launch attempt after editing something in the SPH and I have to restart the game every time, so... maybe?
  18. Does sound difficult to do. For the moment, I've decided to put that to the side and work on making boat/raft to collect some Kerbal's who are currently stranded in the ocean. Not too bad so far.
  19. Is there some way to make the thrusters keep it balanced so it doesn't tilt at all and then use RCS or a different thruster to move it about without tilting the craft? Just to translate it?
  20. Yeah, I know, I just really wanted to build a hovercraft. But I'll tell you I've had more success so far with them than with planes. My plane designs so far seem to go into a crazy spin as soon as they take off.
