  1. Reentering with just a Kerbal is pretty much the coolest thing ever when you get the angle just right  This one's a real maniac. So worth digging these up again.
  2. I like them both for different reasons. In my imagination, Bill's a steady minded engineer with a decent sense of fun. Bob's a scientist who gets nervous about space-flight, but has a thirst for discovery strong enough to make him sit in that rocket with Jeb, and fly out in hope of finding new things.
  3. I disagree, Minmus is quite lovely. I like to visit every now and then, though it's not quite as convenient as the Mun. Traveling from Mun to Minmus is a good way to practice hohman transfers.
  4. I like that ball of dishes on the station. May 'borrow' that idea. Welcome to the forum!
  5. When your first thought when looking at a lampshade, is that could be an engine bell...
  6. Firstly, I will explore the new space centre. Then make my traditional run to the Mun, with any new parts stuck on to my ship wherever they fit. Then add mods to see what still works.
  7. Happened to me yesterday, while I was flinging kerbals into space by cabling them to SRBs. Seems to occur when they enter the atmosphere while spinning and in ragdol mode. Later on in the experiment, I found that by activating the jet pack, I could grantee a stable landing. I had jumped from a station at 800km previously, and didn't encounter that issue.
  8. Don't know. I'll probably continue with 0.19 and 0.20 for a while, finishing of missions I've got going before 0.21 becomes my main game. I've got nine kerbals to rescue-return, one probe based tour of the Jool system to complete, and a rover to land on Eeloo.
  9. It reminds me of something in a recent Scott Manley video. He was doing gravity assists, and said something about how much extra delta v he could get from a planet if he didn't have to worry about the atmosphere, or even the lithosphere. Maybe Dudney forgot to stop at the lithosphere....
  10. I love those. I'm sure every 6 days many kerbals look up and watch. The rest probably just get on with their lives, how boring.
  11. Best. Explosion. I've had so far. Those little SRBs just kept spinning like crazy.
  12. The minions did send someone to the Moon with a home made rocket. (Almost wrote Mun then.) With the assistance of a human. Sounds kerbalish to me.
  13. So, I was mucking around with another kerbal tied to an SRB. He was plummeting to the ground, well the sea to be exact, and felt it was time to deploy the parachute. I thought it had failed, and he hit the ground, but then, this happened. Kerbin is nowhere to be seen. My kerbal looks horrified. For good reason. Not quite sure what happened, but I seem to have encountered a super acceleration bug. First Kerbal to leave the solar system in under an hour. Sorry Dudney.
  14. That was my thought too. But I hope this is cleared up.
  15. Crew manifest isn't exactly gimmicky. It's really useful. If you want gimmicky, look no further than this:
  16. So many cool and amusing flags. And the kerbals who are so blissfully unaware of what they just planted...
  17. That's cool. How do you control the ship, if the kerbal gets accelerated on its own? Is there a way to control that acceleration?
  18. Could it be you're spotting Minmus by mistake? I thought it was a piece of floating debris for a while, and tried to chase it with my plane. I could never catch up to the darn thing....
  19. I love it! That's brilliant. Quite different from the sling I attempted, (Modified the KAS cable to retract at crazy speed, pulled itself apart each time, didn't go very far.) But yours is a work of fine engineering. Impressive, will be watching to see what you manage with it in future. Imagine timing the launch so you were almost at the station, and then using the jet pack to rendezvous with the station.
  20. I did experiment with this a little, by swinging to one side with the jetpack. I got it to tillt a little, but was hard to control. Maybe that would be a good challenge, who can steer a booster into orbit, using the kerbal dangling beneath... But yeah, this set-up wouldn't have the delta V.
  21. Decided that the launchpad needed some more lights.
