I think they are pretty smart, just prone to improvisation, and re-using stuff. They like to do things by trial an error. What they have mastered so far is the result of random testing, as much as it is their knowledge of the universe, which is why their technology levels are so patchy. They are clever, and can do amazing things when they want, but their prevailing attitude is 'why spend time making a new fuel tank when this big silo with a new coating will work just as well?"

In a world where movie piracy is rampant (My fellow Aussies are particularly bad like this) This is the best way for franchise to make money. Starwars earns part of its place in history by being pretty much the first to do this. While I enjoy the satire, I sort of respect it for that. (Though I tend to be a cheapskate, and rarely buiy things myself.) Yeah, it was pretty much 4, but bigger, with a little 5, 6, and some extra mixed in. Though the things that happened in it are the kind of things that happened in original starwars. It was no plot twister, but had some great moments, like the tie escape, and Fin and Rei's first go at flying the falcon. One thing I did pick up on, was there were a lot more diversity in the accents and the human actors. That, and some of Kylo's and Poe's dialogue shows it's a modern film, which I liked. I do want to see some more ideas from the EU, but there's still quite a gap that new versions of old EU stories can fill. Though, there are some good bits about the interaction between the imperial remnant and the new republic that could be borrowed. I'd love to see that.

It's kinda hipster? (But not as pretentious.)

Bill v Bill. Gravity flaws. An interactive story. {Latest: Part 4}
Tw1 replied to Tw1's topic in KSP Fan Works
Part 2 Bill Kerman: "If this is a deal, what is my part in it?" Bill Cipher: "Just let me into your mind kerb Bill. That way, I'll be able to share knowledge with you. Also, you can't tell anyone about me. Ha ha, but seriously, it messes with my power." This didn't sound too terrible. I looked at the moisture- my own sweat, beginning to collect on the inside of my helmet. My suit's systems had already began to fail. Bill Cipher: "Come on. Life. Knowledge unlimited. Just shake on it." I took the deal. The next thing I knew, I was face down on the concrete, back at KSC. Bill Cipher: "Ha ha ha! An excellent choice! I'll see you again very soon kerb Bill. Until then, really-is-a-simulation-the-universe-is-a-computer-game-buy-probes byyye! " The triangle was gone. I looked around. I saw my friends, overby the crawlway, surrounded by a mishmash of parts. Feeling as fit as ever, I walked over. Jeb: "Oh hey Bill" Bill: "Hi guys. What are you up to?" Bob: "We are trying to develop a way to rescue you. You should see Wernher, he is getting pretty desperate. " Val: "Wait a second.." Jeb: "Bill!!! How are you here!?!" I told them I didn't know. That it was some sort of freak miracle. I was immediately whisked of to the medical Bay where they began a series of tests, physiological and psychological to ascertain my identity. Eventually, they were convinced it was me. That night, I had the most amazing dream . Ideas, plans, concepts I never dreamed of understanding. I approached Wernher in the science labs the next day. Within days we had achieved nuclear fusion. Within weeks we were testing Warp drives. In less than two months, new spacecraft were on their way to the planets, overtaking, and relieving missions launched years ago. The dreams continued. Bill Cipher: "Well well well! Just look at you! Already gone and changed the world! I'm so proud, you deserve a prize! Here, have a booster fuelled by the souls of the damned! " Bill Kerman: "Whoaaaaaah- Bill, that's creepy!" Bill Cipher: "Ha ha ha. Just kidding. But seriously, I'm looking forward to going further with you, kerb Bill." You'll never get anywhere as a species if you stay cooped up in this 4 dimensional, 32 bit little universe. So for our next trick, we'll do a portal to the rest of the multiverse!" I presented the idea to Wernher the next day. But to my surprise, his reaction was not one of excitement, but of fear. Wernher: "Where are these ideas coming from? One moment, you're lost in space, the next you're back here, solving fusion, inventing Warp drives, and now you're going to build a portal to higher dimensions? I'm starting to think I've missed something. Are you an Alien? What's going on? Who are you, and what have you done to Bill Kerman?" What should Bill do? Reveal the truth? Or lie, and try to calm Wernher down? Note: Whatever the choice is, the story will continue. But the consequences will change.- 79 replies

That would be found here: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/index.php?/topic/70010-jebs-in-the-saddle/ Songs of my own: The forum change has ruined the ♫♪ music symbols I used. Might fix them at some point. Christmasy: Six White Boosters. Aussie Kerbal Jingle Bells. Other: 'Twas the night before 0.22... Space Lightning Jeb's Song (I still call old Kerbin home) What do we do with a Drunken kerbal?

Neither. Science mode is grinding for points. Career mode is having someone else tell you what to do with your space program. Sandbox.

What is the most HORRIBLE way one of your kerbals died
Tw1 replied to 322997am's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Had quite an accident. His head left his helmet, his face was exposed to vaccum. His neck twisted in a most unnatural way, causing his teeth to enter his shoulder. . That's got to hurt. He popped apon reload. Didn't have a quicksave. From a very old Apollo recreation. More images, full story here ttp://imgur.com/a/vdR5f -
Good luck! She'll need to watch her step. No RCS pack? That would make it so easy.

I think I made Bill seasick. Valentina and Jeb enjoy boating, Bill and Bob, not so much. Kerbals are a useful way of judging which way is vertical when you are on a slope. Team checking out what might be an eroded sinkhole of some sort. You've got an got yourself into a bit of a predicament, haven't you?

We have already got spooling for jets, I wonder if the same sort of thing could apply to the Lv-N? It would keep things simple. For the trouble, we could be compensated with a slight un-nerf...

So Bob was offended by the offender? Makes sense. Sounds like a decisive blow to me. I can relate to the desingers choice to make the drone capable of cool publicity shots, having been placing the cameras on my own spacecraft for exactly that.

This is an interactive story. At the end of each part, I will ask a question which will determine the actions the characters take. At a moderator's suggestion, I'd like to remind everyone that roleplay is forbidden on this forum, and one should not attempt to interact directly with characters of the story. Also, if you haven't watched Gravity Falls, warning! Contains minor spoilers! I was stuck, orbiting a few hundred thousand kilometers over the sun. Radiation drowning out all communications, and the depth of the gravity well making rescue very, very improbable. Yet, I waited. Then, I saw it. Between me, and the sun, slowly coming closer. Some elements of its form reminded me of parts we use to build spacecraft. Perhaps it was a- Cipher: "I'm no derelict satellite! I'm just an interdimensional being of ultimate power! And I want to help you Bill Keman." It spoke with a voice that reverberated through my mind. I'd heard many legends about great beings found in space. The Deep Space kracken, the Great Naked Space man, but the interdimensional yelling triangle? What? Bill Kerman: "Am I going crazy?!" Cipher: "No. Well, maybe. But that's beside the point! I can get you home, Bill Kerman. And if you work with me, I can teach you how to unlock the secrets of the cosmos!" Bill Kerman: "Why do you want to help me?" Cipher: "Cause my name's Bill too! Bill Cipher! Every 100 years, I pick a mind to inspire, and you seem like a cool guy. Besides, you'll fry in days if you stay here. You neeeed me. " Bill Cipher: "What do ya say Kerbal? Kerb Bill?" Bill Cipher: "Do we have a deal?" Should Bill Kerman take up Cipher's offer? Answer in the comments!

Some weird things happened today. Not quite sure why.... The rest of my KSP sesh was spent in testing and training exercises. I took a crew of three out in the latest version of my amphibious planet explorer, who took it, and several passengers to the island. Then they managed to arrive, they all got out to look at the historic spaceflight hardware, and pay their respects to kerbals who have since crashed.

Crislina and Jane, reporting in from Unda da Sea 1. Situation normal. Underwater exploration? Earlier: Even Earlier: Stable. Looks like I've got this new buoyancy thing nutted out. Crislina: "Um, I'm getting some turbulence, in the water?" (Image from a later replication.) She came flying out of the seat, and hit the water. Then, for some reason, she decided to sink. Naturally, I dispatched a second vessel to investigate the anomaly. Kerbals from that one sank too, even after I made sure to clear any possible hyperedit changes. I have accidentally a sea base. The game was a bit borked when I returned to KSC, so I don't expect it to last.

My suggestion to solve "completing" the tech tree.
Tw1 replied to Matt77's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Exactimo. We keep saying this. It's been years. I wish the science system was as sophisticated as the heat, or aerodynamics. -
Can confirm Ladderdrives are still feasible. It's not as capable as it once was- that first one was a re-useable Eve SSTO before they fixed physicsless parts and added heat. It is still possible to get to space on kerbal power alone, despite various physics changes. Riskier, seat-and-chuteless designs will be slightly more capable, if harder to use in space. A great way to tour moons on the cheap, or exercise and terrify Kerbals at the same time.

What would happen if you put a ship on the borderline of SOI?
Tw1 replied to EditorRUS's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Conclusion: You can't get there. Hyperedit refuses to go that high. Determining the height by going to an escape trajectory, then circularising can result in interesting weirdness, but the escape seems to happen at different heights. Similar results seem to happen when placing into orbit using file editing. This is probably not plausible, as the SOI doesn't seem to act like an exact boundary. Having to objects right next to each other didn't result in anything special most of the time. One flies away, one doesn't. Except one time when warping. That made one object disappear. May write it up in more detail if I can be bothered later. -

This is some science I can get behind. Experiment In Progress! Shaping up to be a kracker. -
I too, like Jar Jar theory. The evidence is good, and it would make episode one have a little more importance, at the moment it's fairly skippable. It would make him a lot less annoying to watch, He could look quite different, which may not be a bad thing plot wise. What I like about this fanart, is it looks just enough unlike him to not be instantly recognised, but enough for a link to be made. They could introduce a character, being openly evil and manipulative, reveal his appearance slowly, this way dodging the old hate. Then, having made just enough small parallels to show it could possibly be him, at one point, they confirm his identity with flashbacks, showing clearly just how evil he really was.

Indigenous rights group block telescope construction
Tw1 replied to PB666's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Ironic really. While I don't know the details of this particular case, it makes me suspect they did it in such a way to try and prevent locals having any influence, whereas had they followed proper procedures, they could have saved themselves a lot of time and money. They could've been working on alternate sites. It all comes down to this: Always negotiate with the locals first. Attempt to accommodate their needs. Don't try to bulldoze through people. If there was such a big issue, the decent thing to do is not build there. Sadly, seems like this site and the issues around it are complex, without an easy solution. -
Planetary Enhancements
Tw1 replied to Pthigrivi's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I think a useful step would be to move from just the discrete model of "biomes" to a continuous one, where sceince readings are determined by the distances between your instruments and certain points (Gameobjects?), or by altitude, or by combining numbers from already established systems. This way, there will be a lot more things to do while landed. New experiments could be based on modern geological surveying tools. I like most of the ideas here (maybe not sharp things on Minmus, beings all smooth is kind of it's thing.) It's got to retain any unique character of each planet, and should be procedural, (with factors like ground slope, latitude, etc, playing into it.) They also get someone involved who has at least studied some geology. -
I'm sure we can find a better way than that. There are lots of things I'd like to see here, I miss the preview ability, the advanced mode, and the old rep bars, the BBcode based formating, etc, but I'm hoping some extra features can be slowly added in. I liked the control BBcode gave. We're mostly adults, or older kids here. It's not like we had trouble with it.
