  1. Hmm.. You could save on part count not using the cubics. I'm tempted. I have no issues using these kinds of mods. I already use the primary part switching mod. The thing is I have encountered some bugs when using these types of mods. Has anyone had stability issues with the editor extensions? MJ
  2. Mod could you move this to Tutorials for me please? MJ
  3. Hi all, I haven't seen any posts about making rotating parts on this forum so I guess this is a request for one. Does anyone know, for sure, what parts can be used to make a rotating part? MJ
  4. Its a great idea Gus. I saw that you posted that you use editor extensions. Is it really useful aside from the mega symmetry stuff? Also that bug has befallen me on many occasions, where you select a part and it cannot be unselected, or has parts connected to it that are not actually connected. But it has never ruined any of my VAB crafts. I would just load it in again and all would be well. The SPH is another matter. I have many, many broken saves from that... MJ
  5. That's what I was thinking. Its not a shame really. Just a challenge. It's an odd statement. MJ
  6. Yeah its made from Cubic struts. This is my Pen State Lunar Lion rocket. This opening like a hinge was an accident. It looks to me like the two cubic struts are clipped in some way that lets them move like that. It cant be moved back sadly but its a cool way to release a probe. MJ
  7. LOL, its a huge improvement! How does it fit into your small fairing? MJ
  8. How the hell do you get the paddles to rotate?? Its witchcraft I tell you!
  9. Thanks Cupcake! I think I would rather fly mine too! My LLTV has an ejector seat, the non Jeb version. But none on the TMR! I will add that it is for use only as the real one was intended. For short test flights. So only a little fuel and, RCS. But remember that it cannot fly without the RCS! It will simply fall from the sky without it. MJ
  10. Hi all, As some of you may remember I made a recreation of the NASA training vehicle, "Lunar Landing Training Vehicle". Well, In one post Cupcake... left this message: I finally got around to giving it a go and it has come together better than I imagined. The Rolls Royce TMR took its first tethered flight on the 3 July 1953 at Hucknall Aerodrome, Nottinghamshire, England. It was made to test the feasibility of VTOL aircraft. It was very hard to fly due to the slow reaction of the turbo jet engine. It was controlled by a stabilization system of four extending 'arms' that had direct-able thrust using compressed air. The version I have made has no giro stabilization. Control is achieved using the RCS nozzles at the end of the four 'arms'. It is impossible to control with out the RCS! She is really fun to fly and a real challenge. DL link at the bottom of the post. Have fun! MJ DOWNLOAD Edit* How to fly: Press action group 1 for pod release and RCS 'fuel pipe' extension and ladder lowering. ] Press action group 2 to raise the ladder again.
  11. Nice, I look forward to seeing what you come up with. Keep up the good work mate. MJ
  12. Also, agreed. If Bac9 is making the new spaceplane parts they wont be anything like the mod. They will ask him to completely redesign them. That may take time. MJ
  13. Hi Genolution! I really like your launch vehicle. You say that you couldn't have a two stage lander due to the fairing size. I am assuming you used a command seat? Its possible to make a two stage lander that's around the size of the one you made there. I hope you wont be offended if I post one of my pictures just for reference. This is two stage and only a little bigger than the one you made. Also checkout the Pico landers that Giggleplex and GusTurbo made. It would add a bit more accuracy to your recreation. And nothing beats bumping into the left decent stage and flag on a future Mun mission!! MJ
  14. LOL! Love that movie! Anyway.. I agree with you Snuggly one. Have you seen that Squad recently posted a job advert for a modeler and texture artist? Looks like they are gearing up for some new parts!! It would take a talented texture artist a only a few days to retexture EVERY stock part. Seriously, its not that hard to do. MJ
  15. Hi Snuggler, As someone who only plays sandbox, how would these changes effect it? Would we have just the G-lock? And with no budget I guess you could just hire the best guys. MJ
  16. Ive been fiddling with this and I have now removed all RCS and all Oxidizer to minimize weight. I have also reduced the height of the motor stack just for aesthetics. In replace of the RCS ports I have given the 'wasp' more of a 'waspy' look. The 'Wasp' now has a range of around 250km and a top speed of around 850 m/s at 27,000 m. With the RCS gone its very hard to land. But entirely possible. MJ
  17. I don't suggest random systems just a few more distant outer planets that are not immediately visible would be cool. Observed by the naked eye, and also by telescope. You could use the system you suggested in conjunction with something like I suggested. MJ
  18. Yeah that's the way! I'm excited to see those plans! Are you planning to take one somewhere? MJ
  19. I agree Snuggler, the map view gives it all away too soon. I would love to have an observatory in the game. Imagine how cool it would be to spot an undiscovered body, map its course and study it. You could unlock different equipment to log new data about the body for the first probes.
  20. Sweet! You dont really need the RCS to fly the Wasp as the reaction wheel has more than enough touque. If you want the authentic LLTV feel just switch off the torque and use the RCS to control pitch, roll, yaw. That is really tough! You can use the RCS for fine control though. Setting the throttle low and using it to control your altitude. It makes landing a lot easier. Its actually possible to land at full throttle. You just need to swing the craft forward and back or side to side. MJ
  21. That's as far as the first mountain range right? I will definitely be following this great voyage! I have thought about doing this before but always wrote it off as too time consuming. I will have to experience it vicariously through you. Wishing you the best of luck on finishing this. I know its just a game an all but we all know how much of a challenge this will be. God speed little doodle. MJ
