  1. Hey, folks! I'd like your input on something. I've been reluctant so far to add mods to the Plan Kappa save for two main reasons. First is that if I don't use too many mods, it's easier to update the game. And second, I think the story has a greater appeal since not all readers use the same mods, but they all know the stock parts well. So I'd like to ask: would it be OK to use a few mods? A few people suggested Extraplanetary Launchpads, but I fear it might make things too easy, since the challenge og PK will be to go on without new launches after year 3. Instead, I'm currently considering three mods: KAS, KIS and Pathfinder. What do you guys think? Are those mods currently stable? Would you be interested to see them in Plan Kappa?
  2. Really? I thought the balloon color would be enough to identify the kerbal... I mean, there are a few characters with similar "voices", but only one uses that particular shade of yellow...
  3. In the context of this self-contained story, the last page was a distant finale. However, in the context of the overall series, it whould be understood as a flash forward. I'm not doing a time skip, at least not until after chapter 20.
  4. Well, let's see how close to the truth you landed! Here's chapter 19, and the conclusion of "Days of a future I'd pass":
  5. That's a very impressive colony! I haven't had the time to read everything, but I will later. I'm very interested about the mods used!
  6. No, I don't think I could ever hit something on the launchpad with an uncontrolled capsule! If only it had RCS thrusters, I could manage it after 3 or 4 tries... Funny fact: the abort button was actually mapped wrong and someone would probably die if I had to use it in an actual emergency. I would never have noticed it if it weren't for that saboteur!
  7. I'm not sure I'm following you... When a time traveler goes back in time in Plan Kappa, it isn't really a loop, because when he arrives at the past it is no longer his past, but a different timeline, created by his (or hers) arrival. So it's more like a "Z"-shaped course than a loop, I think? It's hard to explain... Imagine this. I travel back 3 years and kill my past self. This might look like a paradox, because if I killed my past self then I shouldn't exist 3 years later, and therefore couldn't go back 3 years and kill my past self, and so on and on. But Plan Kappa deals with diverging timelines. If I go to the past and kill my past self, I still exist and still remember a past where I was never attacked by a future version of me. Because there are now two timelines, the one where I used to live (and where I came from), and the one where I killed my past self and "changed" the future (actually created a new one). Check the TVtropes page on Time Travel. Plan Kappa follows the type 7 rules: alternate timelines.
  8. There are no loops in this story, because going back in time just creates a new timeline. Whatever Adam and Jack are trying to change won't happen because of them, because Plan Kappa doesn't deal with that kind of paradox. At worse they may fail to prevent it, but it would have happened anyway even if they didn't came back. Does that make sense? You can always refer to this to try and make sense of it:
  9. Aw, you're just saying that to appease those "intelligent design" advocates who think kerbals were made by this guy in Mexico...
  10. If it's low fat, you could probably swing it into escape velocity. BTW, the whole update is hilarious, but it was the first line of the song that made my day1 ;-)
  11. New chapter! This time, I'm trying to do a more contained story arc. It'll run for 3 chapters, if everything goes as planned. Enjoy!
  12. As many as possible? I haven't entirely made my mind about the post-apocalypse plans. Right now the objective is to complete the tech tree as fast as possible.
  13. I thought the movie was good, but I was expecting more from watching the trailers. I'm okay with most of the changes from the book, but the Iron Man scene was frankly ridiculous... At that point, the movie almost turned into a parody of the book.
  14. Well don't get me started on how little sense portuguese grammar sometimes does... But I should have known it's "midst" and not "middle", since I read a lot in english, yet it's only when I try to write it that I realize I need a lot more practice...
  15. Yeah, I'll keep examining the options, but we're still a long time away from doomsday at this point, so there's no rush. Meanwhile, enjoy another chapter! Edit: Updated the last image (actually, I ended up having to re-update everything, because Imgur hates me). For now on, I'll try not to rely so much in the Powerpoint spell check, I guess...
  16. That would be really neat! But now I wonder if I could hyperedit the moons into the calculated orbits. I nevet tried hypereditting a celestial body, would the change be persistent?
