1108: The original starship has its chance. It slams into Kemperial City as the Kempire goes through yet another of its territory fluctuations, specifically the time when it only controls Kemperial City. On any planet. The Kempire is gone for good, and its cloning facilities self-destruct. Also, none can declare war on us- it's gravity's fault.

1106: The original starship has passed the orbit of Eeloo and is on an intercept course with Kerbin.

1104: Some spacecraft reach their destinations and begin building colonies on the extrasolar habitable planets. For science. Meanwhile, the original starship enters the Kerbol System at very high speed...

1087: The force field is finally flicker-lowered. Flicker-lowering is a system that allows you to see if your enemy is attempting to fire upon you just as your shield goes down.

1080.643901: As the bomber from Freddy approaches, the KSP raises their shields. As the shields are raised, a small craft connects to the bomber and takes control. Now it's headed to the only city of Freddy. It carries a small shield projector.

The ISL decides to keep knowledge of GP3 secret as well- they don't want any wars. 1012: The ISL discovers GP4 and GP5. GP4 is very small, while GP5 has rings and is mined for fuels.

1032: The ISL ships finally detect GP2, and (without knowing the Krepublic is there of course) send gas mining ships. They return quickly and develop the same war machines (the ISL doesn't use funds- it's science-based and focused on new tech). 1033: The ISL borders are fixed after some jerk messed them up. The ISL denies the USK request because they have claimed the most scientifically conducive areas on Dres. The USK can have the rest.

What Canonical interstellar movement is barely even tested now. Also, why skip 80 friggin years? 1002/942: The Dresian ISL Expedition finally leaves. It takes control of a small area of Dres and delivers the cure to the USK base. 1003/943: The International Science League builds some system-traveling torchdrive ships to deliver cargo between the planets. The ones for the planets inward from Dres have a cycle time of 30 days while the outer ones have a cycle time of 100 days. Now we go forward to 925. 925: A new global entity arises- the International Scientific League. They work on interstellar drives and other ways of traveling through space, among other things. Within the year they develop a gigantic cargo/colony ship and a cure for the Dresian viruses. They plan to leave for Dres in two years, but may leave later.

901: The "Elysae" establishes brief radio connection with the other starship. They talk about things and the other starship stops accelerating. In order to reach relative velocity match, Elysae turns around and fires the engine. 901.0045: The scientists, both on Duna and on the Elysae, find a way for very powerful and fast FTL communication. A prototype is developed and the Elysae talks to the scientists on Duna.

Well yeah, 879.5 is in the past... also no timeforwards. 898: The "Elysae" suffers a slight malfunction, and the torchdrive goes off for a second. This is fixed quickly, and it will reach the other ship in late 902.

897.4: A virus is uploaded to the cloning facilities which makes the Khancellor's DNA impossible to clone. As a side effect, this means no one involved with the Khancellor or in their "republic" can be cloned. The Khancellor is slapped in the face with a small bomb, which promptly explodes, killing them and damaging them and damaging their home.

891: The Doom Muns parked in Low Kerbol Orbit are hit by a single pea. They all explode with a vast collision that subtly shifts the orbit of Kerbol and the orbit of Moho. 892: Another group of scientists builds a starship to rendezvous with the original starship. They will arrive, with their new improved torchdrive, in 902. With their refit, the ships may arrive in 1200. 821.059: The parents of the kerbal who dropped the KerbKream start a rally. They try to destroy Kerbin, but fail. 822: Scientists finish the Karbonite Torch Drive, MK 2. They launch into orbit and power up the drive... then speed off at about 2G. Fairly quickly, the craft accelerates to 0.95 c. It is bound for the Kamelanic Satellite Galaxy and will arrive in 10020. They will survive because of cryogenic freezing and experimental mind uploading. (Perhaps they will survive the extinction of the rest of the Kerbals, if they aren't forgotten...)

I agree with this idea- Plus, if a ship was used by the same pilot a lot, maybe the pilot could develop a feel for the individual kinks of that craft?

(Well, considering that Duna doesn't have lakes or anything...) 815: A companion to Karbonite, Karborundum is discovered. The scientists researching it try to connect it to a Karbonite engine prototype and quickly discover a new type of engine. Unfortunately, this engine or "Torch Drive" goes off in the lab and burns it (and the surrounding forest) down.

813.4221: The element Karbonite is discovered. Research into powerful engines using it begins.
