My first (blurry) image of Jupiter, zoomed in 6x!
vetrox replied to Sun's topic in Science & Spaceflight
I dont want to sound rude (but its going to sound rude anyway) But jupiter looks nothing like that to the naked eye. Thats what it looks like through a telescope with some magnification behind it. I dont know if its intentional but you need to remove the magnification ( i have no idea how you woul do that thought) maybe just shrink the picture? -
I bought it last night. I would hardly call it a "standalone" (other than the fact that you dont need to buy arma3) it still just feels like Dayzmod2. For a zombie survival game there arent many zombies

My first (blurry) image of Jupiter, zoomed in 6x!
vetrox replied to Sun's topic in Science & Spaceflight
I've been out once this year. And that was a few days ago just to take a peak at jupiter cos its my favourite object. I had 3 hours of spare time got the telescope out...forgot how to collimate...remembered how to collimate, collimated....then re collimated due to error. Got 20 minutes of viewing in before jupiter moved out of line of sight. Didnt even get to look at saturn, lemon, meteor shower, mars and a load of other stuff i wanted to look at this year. I've either been too busy, working or poor weather. Makes me depressed My girlfriend bought me a camera last christmas. Took that photo of jupiter and havent been able to get out since. -
Has anyone read about that "fallout" countdown clock that was a hoax? Maybe there is no spoon?...i mean 0.23

I find it hard to believe you could see make out the moons with the naked eye as jupiter is just so damn bright. Even through a telescope the moons just look like stars. Jupiter and m42 (i think m42..the nebulae in orion) are probably the easiest to see objects in the winter sky. Easy to find, great to look at. M42 is visible with the naked eye in low light polluted skies its basically orions junk. Jupiter and moons taken with my phone through a telescope at 45xmagnification (by just holding the phone up to the eyepiece) Same again at 90x Jupiter with a webcam (not a very good attempt btw) but very similar to what jupiter actually looks like through a small telescope. @OP It may well be jupiter. However, from the ground jupiter just looks like another star in the sky (although its a pretty obvious one) when taken with a phone it will still just look like a star. Also i think the iphone only has digital zoom. So you are not looking at it with 6x mag. Its more of a zoomed in 1x image. If you are interested in looking at the planets you can get some fairly cheap telescopes that will do an excellent job. -
Why would your mum buy kristmas presents? Is that what santa klaus is for? or have you been naughty this year? I'm hoping he brings me a new keyboard...mine is...missing a few keys

you need to upload the picture to a file hosting site first. Imgur, photobucket etc.

Just to put things into perspective. Just looked at joindota forums and took me all of 5 seconds to find a post that somes up a poor gaming community. http://forum.gamesports.net/dota/showthread.php?74689-Valve-hate-low-perf-pc-users Be gratefull for squad and the ksp community

I'm not trying to deny the age of players on ksp but they will have a much different mentality to the people on other game forums. I also use the term "child" very loosley as you can only assume players are childeren sometimes looking at their attitude. But you still see it even here. The people who are not 100% happy with the game have an awfull lot to say and when something changes and isnt 100% what they wanted they soon let you know about it in a very mature way (/sarcasm) and wont accept anything other than their own opinion. But this is the internet and these people will always exist Another thing to note. You can tell the maturity of the ksp player base because they dont start correcting your spelling and grammar or racism when they cant argue any more

So something that "was considered for implementaion" is now on the backburner makes squd a horrific dev team that doesnt listen to the community? Personally i couldnt care less what squad do with the game. I've had my moneys worth. Personally i would love to see better graphics. Personally i have never been bothered about resources. Personally i dont care bout multiplayer. It will be nice, yeah but its not something i can say m excited about. Alot of personal feelings i have about the game. Just the same as everyone else. The problem is the same as any other aspect of life. Complaints are always vocalized and contentness is kept quiet. Most players wont come near the forums unless they are a little stuck. Most game forums are just full of whiney unhappy childeren (ksp is a slight exception to the rule because of the style of game) dota, halo, cod, battlefield. Their forums are an incomprehesible mess of complaining teenagers who arent happy unless the game is exactly how they want it.

Just rediscovered Take on Mars. They have done so much since i last played it!

ping is a measure of distance really. IE. My ping (a better term would be latency) is higher when connecting to a U.S server because they are a bajillion miles away (also i'm fairly sure wireless transmission increases ping slightly...or packet loss...or something but the ping for dummies version above should suffice) A slow bandwidth will just mean he cant process as much data per second. Games dont really use that much bandwidth. When i play dota on south african servers i get a 200+ ms ping.

The Kraken needs something to watch to entertain itself for eternity.

AS was demonstrated in the rapier vid theres the very niche occasion that you might need more liquid than oxidiser. you will need a bit of bonus liquid fuel but you dont want the added weight of a whole jet fuel tank so just reduce the amount of oxidiser? Obv the tradeoff is less dv once in space...or is it because you're not lugging around an empty jet fuel tank?!? MY BRAIN! This seems to be the only time u need to tweek fuel amounts. other than that reducing both fuels to get the weight "you want" for your craft is kinda usefull. It adds an extra "precision" mechanic. IE achieve x by x orbit without any uneeded fuel etc. Personally i'm quite happy with the way tweakables will work. The game does just fine without the fuel tweak but having the ability to reduce my mass by 0.05 of a ton to net my launch and extra 0.01 TWR...i dunno...it kinda floats my boat having that extra precision. EDIT: I've just thought. Does this extra slidebar affect how we transfer fuel between vehicles? IE just slide the bar instead of waiting ages for the fuel to transfer EDIT 2: minor spelling errors

KSP committed to multiplayer career and sandbox modes

The finished release Just like resources will be in the finished game -
Its not just about balancing fuel. Tweakables (note the name, you can tweak things) are quite usefull in other areas that wernt in the rapier vid such as changing how wings work. Also note the ability to tweak the srb thrust. This will totally change how I use srb's Why would u need 400 units of each? you will run out of oxidiser too soon

before this gets locked. Could you not just have an invisible barycenter and have the two gas giants orbiting that? Although im not sure if you can then have moons on each of the gas giants

Typical. My phone doesnt want to let me watch!

I had this problem on an old craft of mine. It was huge but every time i switched to it. It would explode. I found out that it was the modded parts on the ship. Built an almost identical one with stock parts and never had a problem (think it was nova punch) Also try turning the "SAS" off if u can

Surgery always carries risks. These risks are reduced the healthier you are. I dont know about healthcare in your country but from what I've experienced is that modern medicine is pretty safe. Chances are your knee surgery is just a procedure to follow for your surgeon and chances are he has done this particular procedure multiple times. I feel the biggest risk is infection afterwards. Take the meds they give you. Have any dressings changed when they are supposed to and attend any physical theropy. Its normal to feel very nervous whne you're being wheeled down to theatre but once the anasthetic is in your system, you play the "FIGHT THE ANASTETIC" game. Then you wake up...you dont remember falling asleep. Or if its local anesthetic (i really need to learn how to spell that) I like to be able to see whats happening cos its really interesting!
