  1. But this is standard gameplay on almost all of the big popular mega budget games games? COD, HALO, ASSASINS CREED> They are all "Go here and do this" Not all players will want the complete freedom sandbox offers. Maybe if squad can implement some way of tailoring your career mode before you start it? So you can disable things like this if you dont want them? I'm hoping squad will add a difficulty system. As you or I dont want an annoying helper telling you how to do everything but I'm sure theres a few newbies who would find it extremely helpfull
  2. You may have o experiment with this one. I would first try and link each stacked fuel tank together with a couple of struts. If you look closely when your launching and you have shed your outer orange tanks, you will see which bits need stitching together. Remember when you are flying mechjeb is quite violent with its flying which is why i dont have it any more. When i flew it the center engine wasnt activated. I assumed that was how it was designed. I used half throttle at launch and then slowly increased it. Next to your nav ball is a G meter. I try and keep it in the green to prevent random explosions. It ascended slowly at first i guess but it did better than some of the stuff i have cobbled together. Its something you get used to when you get many hours of game time under your belt. When do you start your gravity turn? With your ship i started at about 12km Unfortunatley the way the game engine works, is every part can only have 1 attachment point. So although it looks like your orange tank is attached to both decouplers the second one isnt actually doing anything. So in essence you are already using only one decoupler. If you are worried you can always hide some struts in there. Personally i would leave it as it is as it allows for plenty of error. if you wanted you could ditch one of the tanks in the last lower stage. This would save quite a bit of weight and get you some extra dv. You might even find you gain more. You will have to play around and make mk2 and 3 versions of your craft. That first picture was quite deceptive. I decoupled the lower stage first, then decoupled the csm from the lander. The decoupleing force pushed the lander back into the lower stage so that picture makes it look like its still atached. I had to do my seperating and docking quite quickly at that point as i was mid-transfer burn. Using up the leftover fuel from the lower stage. Everything seemed to manuever very well without the rcs. NOTE:I placed those rcs blocks quite hastily so i wouldnt copy them, they were most awkward. The only thing i would say is remove the RCS from your lander. Theres just no need for it as its so lightweight its very easy to handle even with that heavy mono tank. I noticed when i dropped the descent stage and was flying back to rondevous with the csm that I could only fly half throttle because that mono propellant tank made things awkward. I must admit, it does look prety cool with it though!
  3. I managed to edit the craft fil of the old one. TBH its a very capable craft. I didnt fly it straight away. I added some winglets to the orange tanks, moved the reaction wheel to the bottom of the csm. It wobbles but thats because of the lander. Those structural adapters have a habbit of making things wobble. Once all the lower stages are dropped its very maneuverable. I didnt even need the rcs thrusters. I would recommend you take the circular monopropellant tank off of the lander. It makes it unbalanced. On my pc (i have a low end i7 processor) it runs super smooth. I noticed when i launched it, if you leave it at full throttle the lower stage tears itself off. This could be what causes your unresponsive steering when ascending. However its quite capable at half throttle (you can set mechjeb to terminal velocity to make the most of your rockets). It might be worth learning how to get to orbit manually (if you dont already) as mechjeb makes wobbly craft wobble even more. But I thought it was great. I've yet to build one like it. I really enjoyed flying it. I dont know how much dv it has but I reckon i could get it to duna. It had loads of fuel left over. I had enough fuel leftover from the lifter stage to help with the transfer burn I was most impressed. It wobbles a fair amount but no more than the kerbal x I would say. Its the lander in the middle thats causing all the wobble. but gentle flying gets her up there. EDIT: Sorry i didnt take any screenshots during the ascent as i wasnt expecting it to go so well. Also you only need one radial decoupler per orange tank. This is what explodes each time you seperate the lower stages.
  4. I finally got round to sending a probe to the sun...then i remembered you need a crew to send crew and eva reports!!
  5. Hmm, that rocket shouldnt be too laggy. I will download it in a bit and take a look. It might be worth putting some winglets on the orange tanks to help with control during ascent. It might be worth moving the reaction wheel further down the stage.
  6. This is the sort of situation where one of the node editors helps. They allow you to precisely alter your nodes. I really must get round to reinstalling one!
  7. Dont overplay it though. Its worth taking a weeks break every now and then. ( i say a week because i'm going to assume you will be playing it for a month straigh if your anything like me) I'm currently on vacation from kerbal space command because I would wake up, accomplish nothing because getting my station to moho is aking aaaggggeeessss. So i'm taking a break and will be ready to play again monday. When i first got ksp in 0.20 I played it non stop and quickly wore myself out and didnt play it for ages.
  8. I would still say take it off and see what happens.
  9. What happens if you remove the small plane thats on top? Could be something to do with the control surfaces on top and the COM? EDIT:Are you using FAR?
  10. Can u not just force vsync "on"? Depending on your moniter that will limit your frames. If youre gpu is getting "too hot" then something is wrong.
  11. My laptop has almost the same specs as your current setup...I wish i didnt get a laptop! But my gtx460m is still holding up pretty well. From what I've read (i havent read much about computing in a while) Higher speed ram makes very little real world difference. If its gaming and soley gaming then clock speed is more important than a bajillion CPU Cores. a higher speed i5 dual core for example will outstrip a lower clocked quad i7 if you are gaming (Like my current laptop) GPU wise, a gtx660 will be a decent upgrade and they are becoming a half decent price these days. However what are you planning to play? Are you a crazeh hardcore gamer? or are you like me and just want games to look sorta good and run well. Have you thought about overclocking your current 460card? I almost doubled the clock speed in my laptops gpu (450 to 800mhz!) and it made a massive difference. If i was in your position i would keep your cpu and spend all your money on a new graphics card and maybe some ram (if your hell bent on more ram). or another option (if your current board supports SLI) is to just buy another 460 (they must be cheap by now) a new psu and run two? Depending on what phenom you have atm you can overclock it to get some extra speed from it (if its the 940 you can get 3.5ghz quite happily) My current i7 (bottom of the range) is retard slow but I run games fine all day long, including ksp.
  12. Depends on your craft (assuming its atmo only engines) I had a design that would get it to a 70km apoapsis and then come back close to ksc. I dont have a time though. Most of my designs do it in about 30-40 minutes
  13. You dont need much just a well designed craft. Asparagus staging helps. Raw chicken has the right idea of an interplanetary stage and a lander stage. Although i launch mine together. My duna craft (no science though) has a massivly over engineered lander which actually takes the descent stage back into orbit because of all the leftover fuel. Im sorry i havent got round to sorting my imgur album but this is roughly what my career mode ship looks like. Pretty simple, only had skippers at this point in career.
  14. you could always turn on the srbs then EVA your kerbal out whilst he watches the unmanned rocket launch into the sky....or more likely, various directions that aren't the sky.
  15. Dont quote me but i think you can only bodies in your current SOI, at least thats what I assumed.
  16. EDIT:Just reread your post properly. Although you get trails from your jets. I wonder if there is some way to make a coloured trail that works in a similar way
  17. DOTA 2. Although not complex in the sense of "too many buttons, too much micromanage" but the team/underlying gameplay mechanics have alot of complexness about them. Its not all "moar=the most complex" about 50 hours into ksp I had the majority of the mechanics down. 700 hours into dota and im still a nub The more you play a game. The more you discover how complex it is.
  18. The brain will always wear out. My body may be on the verge of death at 80 years of age. Theres no point getting new organs as the brains almost sludge at that point anyway. The only time its of any use is to allow younger dying people to survive to the point theiur brain cant. Stupid brain...why u have to wear out
  19. ARMA > all other military style fps games TBH I havent bothered with bf4 as from what I have seen its mostly the same as bf3. I played the beta on a friends pc and it felt just like bf3. I feel its going the same way as call of duty. Same old game, extra bit of polish with money making dlc already designed and ready to sell. I will stick to ARMA thanks. If i want to play a competetive fps i have CS:GO. Opinion Has been stated!
  20. Oh **** is the voting closed already? Damn, i may have spent too much time flying planes Oh well, Only one of those finalists was in my final list anyway
  21. Spent about 12 or so hours over the past few days testing. Although i dont like the look of some of the planes Ie I feel they either dont look kerbally or are to far from what the original albatross looks like (too small or just not wacky enough), I have however flown them all and some of them are superb. I want to vote for gusturbo but I just cant bring myself to vote on something that looks like a regular air liner. However It does get a thumbs up as Its good fun flying to the poles in it. Gonna test the 4 favourites in my short list now, then I will vote. I love atmospheric planes
  22. THERE ARE! I know theres a mod that tracks achievements but im fairly certain the squad have said they wont ever include achievments I will admit its something i like. It was the best thing about my xbox 360 when i first got it. Duels with my friends about who has the most achievments
