  1. I am saying that the reaction wheels are unrealistic to an extent, the way I see it (I am not the strongest in this field) is that there is a spinning gyroscope or a "wheel" that spins within certain parts of the ship (lets say centre of mass). This wheel is spinning at the very centre of the craft longitudinally up the long shaft of the craft, if it were to suddenly stop spinning it will exert a rotational force into the direction of the wheel rotation, which should rotate the craft. I read that the size and speed are important, but it can be possible to rotate ships. If you look at the probe core for the plane shape, it has torque wheels inside it, I think the wheels can cause rotation, the amount I don't know. I've also seen the video showing the effect of torque on a spinning wheel, which shows a guy holding a rod with a metal wheel at the end, he spins the wheel using a drill and then lifts the (very heavy) wheel over his head with ease while also needing to rotate with the wheel. I don't know if I explained that properly, but I do agree the KSP torque might be a bit too strong, but possible to an extent.
  2. There is the problem with unrealistic torque from reaction wheels, but without them the game would be extremely difficult with the amount of propellant needed to keep straight, especially with a ship that is staying out in space for ever... but reaction wheels could almost work RL right?
  3. I was watching MythBusters the other day and came across... http://www.discovery.com/tv-shows/mythbusters/mythbusters-database/laptop-lift-off/ The original video - https://www.youtube.com/embed/_12L_Dme8Vc Basically (if these links don't work) the bees can't lift the laptop because of a few reasons but a major one being Newtons 3rd law. If the bee is pushing air down it can fly up, but if the air is hitting a large surface it pushes the surface down, and if the surface is attached to what ever is trying to fly up, it won't fly. I asked myself, is KSP's physics realistic and good enough to prove this law, I set up a rig as the following (sorry for no images) 1. Simple probe core 2. Fuel tank 3. Rocket engine strong enough to lift the whole thing 4. 2 long metal girders which hold a large flat surface made up of structural sheets of metal I ensured that the metal sheets were far enough from the engine to be able to see the flame, I proceeded to offset the metal sheets to ensure there were no gaps. I went to launch it and to my surprise it did not generate thrust, I tested numerously to see if it was a glitch in the launch pad, I remade the rig with the metal sheets separated a little. This caused the metal sheets to wobble (closing and opening its gap) each time it opened the thrust fluctuated from 0 to almost normal engine thrust. After seeing the results I flipped the girders upwards (lots of air resistance) yet it was able to lift off (this entire experiment was also done with hacked gravity which made no effect on the 0 thrust). I am really proud of Squad for having these very realistic physics in the game which I can imagine to be a pain (Results from newest release 1.1.2ish I think) Serious JOB WELL DONE! (I don't think physics were this good in the past KSP versions though)
  4. Can you still make a packaged version of all mods you have as one? I like KCT as is now, but seperate downloads will become hard when they need to be patched... but do as needed
  5. It is probably a Bug, though I would love to make a doctor who style flying titanic ship... if you've seen that episode...basically a titanic with rockets..
  6. Re-entry? heat shield? I thought it was a simple inflatable raft for my kerbals to enjoy the water... thats gives me an idea for TITANIC
  7. One time, 1 KJR mod wasn't enough, so I installed 3 and it worked a charm...
  8. That would be too much, thats why I put OTHER... and besides stations aren't usually built on the ground but in space as segments, but even so, OTHER
  9. It was negative in the sense that you implied, for this mod to be pay-to-skip, which is just terrible and I hate those games (which means I never skip to pay) Firstly the sentence structure is hard to follow. Secondly, Just NO, that will never happen and why would you want to make it paid? no one will want to have mods, and the modding community will fall and dwindle, with people like you paying for free mods and all the rest of us out of the picture... You insisted time warp to be paid for, so you would be looking at (roughly the estimate of time warp fees) 10 cents per minute of time warp, but this also requires more money spent for the much faster time warps. For full time warp, for 1 min would be $1 per minute. Thats rubbish, and it is obvious that such a feature won't be removed as no one wants to wait 10 years to make a correction burn and then wait 10 days to make another one... AS said above, such an idea is just absurd, irrational and immature. Squad is happy enough with the income from game purchases, but in possible future will sell DLC and what not, this could the time that Mods might drop a little, but this is the only time anything that resembles a mod will be paid for. The game will not be finished next April fools as the game has many things to improve on, so DLC work or any "Pay For Time warp business" won't be happening Try the mod and go away, and use any other mod in combination. This is a place to talk about the mod, and any issues it may have, not a place to say a life story, and a bunch of unworthy comments, especially from an immature imbecile like yourself who has no value for money, Stop with these edits that have no use to this Forum section. We do not need to know that you will download a mod, otherwise we will be spammed with all the 7000 monthly downloads people make. Derp
  10. I made a small satellite which has all the science needs, and it is 1 kick back solid booster as first stage, and from there, enough DV to get you out of the solar system with a wide orbit... (past eloo). As if only three people made Hype trains....
  11. In real life yes, do you want my 1.0.4 UFO? which worked...
  12. It does work though, if you don't block the engine it will create thrust, though i do know that in the recent updates, engines cause heat damage, which when i made my own UFO with fairings, didn't exist
  13. What i wonder of doing is making a massive bin like structure and getting kerbals to climb to the top and fall into the pit.. I wonder if i can stack kerbals in the bin, though i am not degrading them, only an experiment! Has anyone also noticed that the forum page was renamed from The Lounge, to KSP Discussion?
  14. Do you make houses for them? on earth?
  15. I started playing around early 2012, my friend showed me, and i played Demo for a long while, he said there is a special coming up a few months after demo, and he said if i get it now i'll get a free DLC, which was his lie to get me to finally get the real version. After a year i realised that there were forums which was 2013 which i joined the forums (though i had no real need back then)
  16. Now that is a BIIG Rocket, but also a really cool design, that mod looks epic, and that is a really cool lander! I once created a rocket with the shield pre inflated, and once on the launch pad, i could click deflate or similar, and it retracted, though i still haven't launched, so the deflating is possible with a code change
  17. I've seen someone on youtube make a UFO out of 2 Inflatable Heat shields inverted, they also have lift, so if you add an internal engine on one side you could make a working flying saucer..
  18. *Changes Graphics settings to high* *Hangs Kerbal* ... *kerbal Clips through tree and and falls asleep*
  19. How much Delta V does this ship have? is it designed for most planets? Yeah and definitely OTHER, or if its big it can be BIIG Rockets
  20. *Uses HyperEdit to make Every THING Orbit KERBIN!!*
  21. I think ill just count it as other, too many edits make it unfair for those that already voted, you could choose SSTO, but Other if you need that extra poll, you could add it as a rocket too. Sorry though, I'm not editing anymore.
  22. This brought up a question in my head, do polar regions with ice have less grip than regular dirt or tarmac? I think it does, but then again, i don't spend 2 hours flying a plane to test that theory... yes i know hyper edit exists. If it doesn't have less trip than they should add that to 1.2, with extra grip on roads and less on ice and sand
  23. Sorry, I thought players would just assume, as the Hype would of brought many people to youtube to watch the new Heat Shield, Added the IDK button
  24. Let me add that i have used tweak scale on heat shields and essentially made what is now an inflated heat shield, though it couldn't be retracted. so far i am seeing a 50% chance for using inflatable more and less than regular shields...
  25. I remember seeing a thread on the devs first sketches and plans for KSP, I always sketch different things, but never have i thought it could turn into something like this, with over 1 million users (i am guessing)
