  1. Because if everybody picks all of them then the results would be uninteresting.
  2. If they called it a Fusion Torch people could point at tiny little things and say that fusion torches wouldn't do that. By calling it a ________ drive they can just say "no it works that way because professor ________ discovered it" It's the same concept (executed roughly one billion times more poorly) behind the rebooted Star Trek's "Red matter." "It's like dark matter but it's red so it's different in the ways we need it to be for the plot and also to look cool."
  3. Of course it could. Any sufficiently advanced civilization will put fast food and greasy spoons everywhere they possibly can.
  4. In the future just use the "report this post" function and ask a friendly neighborhood moderator to move it for you.
  5. Been there! One of the last classes I took in college before dropping out, in fact. Not that I suggest that, but it worked out okay for me. As for me, "I fail at get coffee." While, somewhat ironically, getting coffee.
  6. One trick I do is to send probes that I call Prospectors. it's very easy to super overengineer a tiny probe to have 10 or more times the dV your main ship will have. Land with the prospector, check the temperature to find the biome, and then take off and land elsewhere if it's not the biome you like. Repeat this once you've found the correct biome to find a nice flat landing spot. Then "just" land near your Prospector Probe.
  7. but flying a self-built ship by hand in unpredicted situations is very much not.
  8. Yeah why not just set up something like Ender's Game's Battle Arena? And note I do not believe any of this addresses bone decay.
  9. I tested exactly this when Breaking Ground first dropped, and without same vessel interaction it was possible but not very easy to do. With Same Vessel Interaction and the robotic parts, I could pretty much get it to work every time. So yes, it's a thing and it's very doable.
  10. Sometimes. Rarely. I never care if they look like something real and prioritize function over form to a massive degree.
  11. Amusingly no I never really did. To me the lego aspects of KSP are not really all that important. I build craft so they can do specific things, not to partake in the building itself. Note I'm by no means saying I don't like it. I just don't love it.
  12. I do not love Lego. I have nothing against it, I just don't play with it our even interact with it in any way, haven't for decades, and have no plans or reasons to change that.
  13. And I hope their gender reveal party was otherwise a success. https://www.cnn.com/2018/10/02/us/az-off-duty-border-patrol-agent-wildfire/index.html (note that was from 2018 so it's not this fire. But MAN can people do dumb things for dumber reasons) Well the good news is you're no longer paying the tax dollars they're wasting.
  14. KSP isn't like most games, you're not expected to get everything right on the first try. You're not supposed to get everything right on the 10th try. There is no enemy, there are no (explicit) puzzles. there is no (explicit) goal. The ONLY opponent in the game is your not knowing things, and the only way to defeat that enemy is to learn them. If you were able to do everything correctly on the first try, the game would be really boring. Don't lament these early failures, relish in them. Eventually you'll laugh at yourself for not knowing how to get over them, and later you'll wish you could bring back that feeling of accomplishment.
  15. Bill once reached several times that in one of my saves just but climbing off a ladder on the Mun. But yeah 300 is a lot of millions, no matter how you look at it.
  16. I'm pretty proud of my rendezvous and docking tutorial videos, in 3 handy spoilers below, rendezvous, approach, and docking. I don't have any inside knowledge or anything but I always figured you can't pause because NASA can't pause. For sure you need part 1 above. And maybe part 2. Good!
  17. If you aim your target ship's port normal and your docking ship's port anti-normal then they'll be lined up and not wander. Other than that your only option is one of the (at least) 3 mods that help align ports.
  18. I like the idea of a Hohmann transfer, it's something you can calculate with pretty simple math but then seeing it happen on screen could really cement the concept.
  19. They had a demo at PAX from what I recall reading at the time. As for telling their investors but not us... well of course they're going to tell their investors first. They actually owe their investors something.
  20. Even better, hit v a few times to go into locked mode, then do this. It will guarantee your ship and navball agree on directions.
  21. We will need more information than "It won't load at all." Does it log anything? Are there errors? Have you tried verifying the install with Steam or uninstalling and resinstalling?
  22. Three points: A) I called it. B) April is still Spring. So is May. Heck so is most of June. They said "Spring 2020" so unless they were releasing it in the first 2 weeks of Spring this announcement is confirmation, not refutation, of what they said. C) I still called it and still expect it to be later than they said it would be. Or it will be released on time but buggy and I'll be sad that they didn't release it later than they said it would be. EDIT: I read the release and they are saying it's delayed. Which as I said above is a good thing.
  23. If you don't mind modding your game you can place waypoints in map mode even while landed with Waypoint Manager. You can also see those waypoints in flight so you don't even need to target anything. you will be able to see the waypoint on your screen as you launch. That said, I always just target the orbiting craft and launch in the direction it is, or if it's not passed overhead yet I launch away from its current position.
  24. If you are of a modding mindset, the Alexmoon calculator is incorporated into a very nice mod named Transfer Window Planner. If you just want to be told when to go (and even get maneuver nodes made for you) you can also try Astrogator. I personally prefer Astrogator but would suggest TWP instead, as it helps you learn WHY a transfer window is better than not using a transfer window.
