  1. And another VTOL SSTO space plane.. hopefully this one can make it to Dres or Duna and back. Still in the testing phase but 95% complete. Has completed one test run to an orbit of 100x100km with over 60% of its fuel left. And did it in 11minutes to. The SVO-9 "Goat" Capable of taking off vertically with full Kethane tanks, and 75% fuel, or with just full fuel and no kethane. Or performing a VSTOL take off with full fuel and kethane Under air breathing engine power is capable of Mach 4.2 at an altitude of 34km before switching to rockets. And it can mine and process its own Kethane fuel for round trip missions to other worlds.
  2. I may try and use the KAS struts and strut the vehicle before docking... this may lock it in place.
  3. I ran into a minor problem that could be a BIG problem. When ever I use a wench and pull a rover into a cargo bay, and the connector switches from undocked to docked, it will fall through the bottom of the craft. If I undock it then it causes a massive explosion. Tried 3 reinstalls of the WHOLE KSP game. List of mods are in my sig.
  4. So they create the current Earth satellite and debris mapping around the Earth in real life.
  5. It really doesn't matter how much RAM you have, the game only utilizes 3.4-3.5GB of RAM. It is a 32bit game unfortunately.
  6. Easy answer. Attach a probe or remote guidance unit to the part. This way you can control it once you discard it. Unfortunately without a plugin you won't be able to keep it around if it is in atmosphere outside of 2.5km. In space it will be flagged as debris and left there in its orbit until it collides with something or burns up in an atmosphere.
  7. Wasn't paying attention. Ran into my space station around the Mun, took out 2 solar panels and one docking port as my ship slid down the side. Then one of my Kethane satellites ran into its final stage about 1 week after it separated from it.

Not to say that you can't do it with in them, you can, but there are more efficient ways in game to do something with those mods.
  9. Yeah I seen it right after the update, but didn't post about it. I flew low over it in my T-1 test aircraft I use for testing new ideas on a sound aerodynamic platform. Then I flew and landed on it with one of my helicopters to look around. May go and check out KSC2 to see how much it has changed, if at all.
  10. Not really a mining ship, but it is my Mun Base One mining operation transport ship. It hauls raw Kethane from the surface to the station in orbit for refining. And its picture with its payload capacity. oh and it is a VTOL on any non-atmospheric planet. Could work on Kerbin to if I refined the engine layout a bit more in the back.
  11. For me it starts with a concept. Like VTOL Space planes... or craft. Like in the movie Elysium, or the dropship from Aliens. A craft that can take off vertically from almost any planet, and land vertically and still get to space and be useful there. So I started my VSO line of craft. It started with this as inspiration... And this is what I came up with that finally was a working functional product. All the while I had to keep in mind the ship has to work in FAR, because I wont go back to the stock KSP aerodynamic code. And still be functional for more than trips to orbit and back. This one above, which was recently lost in a purge of my gamefiles when I decided to get rid of a few plugins, was capable of taking a 20 ton rover into orbit a 150km orbit over the Mun meet with the station I have there fill its tanks to 70% fuel load for landing on the Mun. I could do it with less but I like having a reserve. Empty it can make the trip to the Mun and back to Kerbin and land at KSC on one fuel load. Granted it is pretty much empty when it lands. But that is my process, I start with inspiration, then I spend hours designing testing and redesigning then retesting until I get something that works. Then if I like the final product, I work on refining the product to be better. Much like I have ended my line of SP craft, because I have 3 that do everything I need, and they are near useless for landing on any other world. So I focus more on my SVO line and VSO line.

  13. Your rockets Center of Mass (CoM) is to far from your Center of Thrust (CoT). All your weight is at the or near the top of your rocket and all your thrust is at the back of the rocket. Without your SAS on your rocket will tip one way or the other, and with all that weight when it flexes your engines are no longer in line with the CoM and this is what is sending your rocket out of control. There are two ways you can fix this. 1- Add more struts to your rocket making it a far more ridged structure. 2- move your payload closer to the middle or bottom of your rocket (which isn't always possible)

  15. FAR= Farram Aerospace Research mod. It is a plugin or mod that actually simulates "real" world aerodynamic forces on an aircraft, thus making them behave like a real plane or rocket not like in the current KSP where anything with an engine, or without can fly.
  16. Mun Base One.. My current and only operation off Kerbin kethane mining operation.
  17. SVO-9 Its mostly a Mun base fuel shuttle but its real good at it. Its the little ship docket with the station.
  18. Pipcard, most of the mods are uneffected by .22.
  19. Thats funny, because that is quickly becoming my second most used VTOL engine for my SVO line of ships.
  20. Yeah I wish I could help you more but EVA is funky sometimes. Could try a quick save then reload?
  21. Approach REAL slow.. when I say slow I mean SLOW. Its hard to do in EVA but it can be done.
  22. Kind of reminds me of the old SEPECAT Jaguar, I loved flying that thing in FreeFalcon5.0.
