The climax of Angels and Demons. Wow.

what you're saying is no more than "different things work at different times in different environments". Gigantism worked until it didn't and then it worked again until it stopped and some day it will once more be in vogue when the conditions are right. I don't think there's much to glean from here

It's called a road, it's called a Rainbow Road

And you could almost double Starship's mass to orbit doing that!

NFUN replied to JoeSchmuckatelli's topic in Science & Spaceflight
It'll be fine -
"I want to see scientists' explanations of how hunter-gatherers and their campfire technology raised the sea levels by tens of meters, a rise that wasn't apocalyptic, while all of modern society only raises the sea level by a fraction of a meter, which is apparently a big deal"

considering the JWST, I can't say I blame them for being skeptical of the feasibility for such an ambitious telescope, at least to be finished anywhere remotely near budget and deadline. We'll see if Starship can change the math on that by the end of the decade

considering he only cares about the outcomes of vaccinated people, higher transmission and breakthrough of inoculated people is exactly how he'd define "worse"

it is evolution in progress for the virus to mutate in ways to become even worse

[New] Space Launch System / Orion Discussion Thread
NFUN replied to ZooNamedGames's topic in Science & Spaceflight
ok and they could've created a makeshift program intended to keep the industry alive that could also, like, do something useful -
edit the first post to have a list of the existing threads for ongoing nasa projects

Red or salty?

But then how would we know that's he's not interested!!?!?!

Planet Nine wasn't even theorized then And it wouldn't be a dwarf planet as it's hypothesized *through* its very significant effects (assuming they're not an artifact) on its neighborhood, at a significantly higher mass than Pluto (and Earth). If they did call it a dwarf planet, it would be an actual case of the definition being bad and need reworking, as opposed to it being entirely appropriate for Pluto

The Impossible battery... how useful would it be?
NFUN replied to Spacescifi's topic in Science & Spaceflight
and how much of the material is being heated... (and energy lost to effects like ionization and chemical reactions, which isn't as relevant to your point) -
so you're calling us out for making this a fanclub by being annoyed at a comment even you don't think is productive meanwhile mikegarrison is very skeptical and good discussions are had with him
