Hey there! Sorry for the random post out of the blue, but I've been trying to get an update for Spectra pushed to address the rainbow clouds in the main menu, and I was curious if I could share my findings with you. It seems the rainbow clouds are tied to these five variables: Messing with these variables does some... interesting things to the main menu. Preserve cloud colors* = True (Main Menu) Preserve cloud colors* = False (Main Menu) As you can see toggling Preserve cloud colors* to False from True, significantly deadens the rainbow effect on the main menus, as well as strengthening their colors a fair amount (notice how the small clouds over the ocean are much brighter with it set to false). This would seem like a solution to remove the rainbow colors by simply leaving this value set to False, however doing this completely removes the sunsets from the planet: Preserve cloud colors* = True (Map View) Preserve cloud colors* = False (Map View) This gets even more unusual when you start messing with the actual number sliders. You can actually get the sunset colors to return if you mess with the values with Preserve cloud colors* set to False, though it begins to mess up the main menu again. Improved EVE integration settings (Map View) Improved EVE integration settings (Main Menu) The main issue I've been having is that the main menu clouds seem to follow different color rules than in flight. Do you know why this is?

Ooh my mistake; I didn't see that you also have OPM-VO installed. Spectra is sadly not compatible with OPM-VO, or any other mods that change the layout of the kerbal solar system I don't use any extra planet mods, and so I don't have the drive to relearn how to make config files that change depending on different planets. I would most likely have to update the other planets with each release, too.

Ha! Thank you for the compliment on my sunsets I might have steps you can take to disable the glow yourself if you want? You would go into my atmosphere/cloud config and manually delete the lines that add the glow for the planets you don't want it. You'd only have to do it once and back the file up, than paste it into Spectra each time KSP updates.

Hey there! Did you install via CKAN? There are city lights, but it's only available through CKAN since it's a custom addon I made that draws from KSPRC (an older now defunct visual pack), and I don't have the license to include it in my own download. It's called 'KSPRC City Lights'. As for Minmus, does it look like Minmus in the trailer video? Spectra adds a glow to every body, not just Minmus. You can see Pol for reference too since it's very similar to Minmus, just with orange-yellow instead of blue-white. That characteristic glow is actually what Spectra gets the name *'spectra'* from If you're not a fan you might have to try a different visual mod, such as SVE or Astronomers.

:L I'm afraid that is the work around. You can see the comment just above yours with a reply from Blackrack, the creator of Scatterer. It's a big related to Scatterer and not Spectra from my knowledge. There's something you can test, though. Could you completely remove the Spectra folder from GameData and see if Duna is still white?

Hm. This is a bug with Scatterer that seems to happen randomly and isn't tied to any particular modpack. Can you try deleting Scatterer from the CKAN cached mods, re-downloading it, and reinstalling it? I haven't seen this bug in a while but I've found that a complete re-download of Scatterer always fixes it. It could be something that's corrupted? @blackrack, have you encountered this/have an answer?

That's normal for now... it doesn't effect anything in gameplay, only the menu. It's a side effect of me trying to make Kerbin's sunsets bigger I should be addressing that in a upcoming patch. It works with 1.11 right now you just need to force compatibility in CKAN with the last few versions of KSP, since the parent mod EVE isn't yet updated to 1.11 causing CKAN to think you can't install it.

I'm starting to feel the call of space once again... I might start streaming my careerbox save again soon.

Thank you for the constructive criticism! Sad to say, but this isn't possible to change at the moment. I'm right there with you that they look unrealistic. The reason it looks like a shader being slapped into a sphere geometry is because that's is exactly what it is- a flat texture being applied to a sphere; the same EVE feature that adds clouds just with a bit of color and glow. As it stands there's no way to make textures that are vertical, let alone vertical and shifting. This is the best we can do with KSP at the moment unless someone creates a new mod or addon for EVE that allowed it. Sadly I can't code, so I can't create any new features, simply enhance and add to features already provided in parent mods like EVE and Scatterer. Spectra has no actual code inside it; in it's purest form it's just a bunch of custom textures, config files, and several hundred hours of modifying and optimizing that Scatterer and EVE use to draw better effects.

Oh shoot, I did? That's definitely a mistake on my end. Wait a sec, TextureReplacer might actually not be required anymore either; I typed that out in the morning when I was still a bit foggy. Are you installing manually or are you using CKAN? CKAN is the most updated and reliable way of installing Spectra, and it also has a list of recommended mods like custom city lights and 64k clouds.

Hey there! The reason you don't see any of these features is because they are no longer included in Spectra; with KSP's official updates to the skybox and surface terrain, I no longer found it enough of an improvement (and in some cases a downgrade) to include my custom terrain and skybox textures. Kopernicus is no longer a required mod. TextureReplacer is still required though to change the planet textures from orbit, though I might end up removing that too if their textures are improved enough in the future. TL;DR: KSP updated enough that I no longer needed custom terrain and skybox textures, so I removed them. You can still use Kopernicus or TextureReplacer with other mods if you want but Spectra no longer adds anything via them.

Many thanks! I'll have to take a peak when I have more time/interest, I've been tied down by Elder Scrolls Online and Cyberpunk 2077 recently, but if past is any indication I'll be back to playing KSP again sometime in the not so far future. From what you say with the error code disappearing after deleting Spectra's custom configs, it definitely sounds like there's something wrong in my configs that is causing the error. If you're brave enough you can try to patch in Blackrack's edits? Spectra's Scatterer configs basically just change the atmosphere color on Eve/Duna/Jool, and that's really the only major change.
-
Hm... Could you try deleting/removing my custom Scatterer configs folder from GameData/Spectra/Spectra_Scatterer and see if it persists? I want to confirm that it's an issue with Spectra's configs, and not base Scatterer. Darn. The rainbow bug is back... This is an issue with the brightness configs for the main menu being more amplified than in flight, and it's caused by trying to increase the strength of sunset colors. If you load up Andromeda's pack you'll see that he has the same issue too. The only way to fix it is to significantly deaden the color of sunsets.

Oh my goodness! On the 100th page, on the final hour, Linker returns! Thank you for this... I'll have a look
