  1. Why wasn't this the who can make the best helicopter thread? All I have is what was a good b52 replica from several ksp versions ago. Azimech already posted here anyways though. Cool planes everyone!
  2. Haha! That's the greatest thing I have ever seen. What monster did you create? it looks like it wants you to put it out of it's misery.
  3. Hey guys! Thank you so much for all of your feedback and support. I have done major improvements on the helicopter today since the first release. I have now updated the craft file for the brand new Kinchook KH-47B variant that has awesome improvements in every category and now even has a ground vehicle that can refuel it for extended duration missions. I hope you guys like this! You can read the details and get the new craft from the updated OP.
  4. Hey guys! I have a neat update. I have built a new refueling truck for the helicopter. With this truck stationed at airfields the chopper should have nearly infinite range.
  5. I wouldn't go so far yet. The raw numbers are honestly very impressive. We all have to say. The one that isn't is the PC crushing part count. Until you can make this technology small and simple there is no innovation. Certainly on the right path forward. I look forward to seeing where it goes. 257 parts even without intakes and props is still even larger than most of my multi-bearing'd non turboshaft helis. Make a small version and I will give you literally all of my rep. I want to see it happen!
  6. Yes. You need to open your settings file within your KSP directory. Go into the file and fine the VAB_FINE_OFFSET_THRESHOLD line. Increase this to some outlandishly huge number can you can offset a part anywhere you want as long as you are pressing down the shift key. Simple.
  7. It might be a mod or something. If you're using any type of joint reinforcement that will augment how parts behave in contact to each-other. This helicopter was designed to be use in a 100% stock version of the game. No idea how it behaves on modded installs. If this is not the case people provide me with screenshots or video because its a glitch I will fix. It might be that the rotors are falling out of the bearing before decoupling them and then once you decouple them get stuck? Or maybe you haven't decoupled them? Sorry man. In my test flights the helicopter can achieve flight unloaded with only about 75% throttle. So it must be something glitchy going on. You might have luck putting a strut connecting the rotor to the fuselage before decoupling the rotor to make sure it doesn't fall out of place in the meantime. But yeah. My guess if you have joint reinforcement or something installed. In my experience that mod breaks any and all stock bearings.
  8. Incompatible with joint reinforcement mods. For best results your game's physics should be under vanilla conditions. I thought you guys would appreciate me sharing my newest helicopter. This time it's a tandem rotor helicopter inspired by the CH-47 Chinook. As you can tell from the video the new high strength bearings and motors are very reliable and can even propel the helicopter to 30 M/s in forward flight. It has enough fuel for a flight to the island airfield and back. Being able to hover unloaded with only about 75% throttle the Kinchook has enough power and room to carry a decent load of cargo. This helicopter is great for all your utility and transportation needs. Specs. KH-47C Mass: Approx. 45 tons Powerplant: (2) [ x3 Bladed Rotors powered by Juno Basic Jet engines ] + (2) Panther Engines Part Count: 215 Parts Minimum Take-off and Hover Throttle Percentage: 80% Fuel Duration at 75% Throttle: 1 Hour And you know the best part? No Mods Required EVER! Always Stock all the time. With this new technology the Kinchook will have infinite range as long as there is a truck to refuel it. The KH-47B variant also comes with a claw on the underside to grab sling-loads off the ground. The rotor blades have also been tweaked to be more fuel efficient. This package comes with general cosmetic cleaning of the airframe of the helicopter. If you're still not satisfied out of the Helicopter you can download the all new KH-47C variant that pushes the Kinchook to an even higher degree. Instead of having those rear cosmetic engines you have two real Panther engines attached to the rear rotor pylon that can be used to push the chopper to an amazing 50 M/S in forward flight. Like the rotors the fixed engines can be refueled by the Kelaz-45T fuel truck. Newest Version Below! 10. NO MODS REQUIRED EVER! What is it that I can really say about this one that the screenshots don't already? The Ki-24 "kind" is a lookalike but def. not a replica of the awesome Mi-24 Hind helicopter. This chopper comes with a wheel-less 100% stock bearing in a quad-rotor design that uses only 4 of the smallest vanilla jet engines to lift this 40 Ton beast off the ground. This beauty fits a crew of two and has a large accommodating cargo-bay to carry anything from rocket fuel to infantry or anything in between. Designed as a military transport/gunship I also armed the helicopter with four simple SAS stabilized rockets to shoot and sometimes destroy buildings of your liking. (or hating) Unfortunately this is one of my least refined builds that I have ever posted to these forums. Nothing about it am I 100% happy with so I'm designating it as work in progress. That being said it is fully functional (besides a strange behaving front landing gear) and can reach just over 11 M/S in forward flight. It isn't a fancy Azimech turboshaft coaxial so don't expect it to be the most stable thing in the world although is still perfectly flyable. I promise to continue improving it but I am horrible with making wheel-less bearings since the 1.1 update and will probably stick to making more mega trucks. Download The Helicopter Here: Download For some reason the front landing gear only wants to deploy half of the time. After this video I reverted the flight and was able to deploy it again without issue. The front gear has a mind of it's own so be kind to it and it will deploy. Not like it matters too much anyways. Its a helicopter not a high speed jet. You can just get rid of the landing gear entirely if you has a problem with bipolar wheels.
  11. If you want to build a bearing bigger than the Ares 3A. I have a lot of working bearings that are huge but for practical small ones you have to ditch wheels all together for structural parts that make it nearly impossible for them to be stable. Sure wheels and stuff work great if your making house sized azimech bearings but in reality you need them to be small. Hopefully my Mi-24 "replica" that I might release this week will finally work with a neat sized one. I have been experimenting for months. And of course Majorjimmy they work great for things that turn slowly but if you're making an engine for huge RPMs for like helicopter applications don't work that great anymore.
  12. Still no stock bearings anyone has been able to remake for the update?
  13. After years I think I believe I have visited every body; not necessarily sending kerbals there and back again. But that was a long time ago. I rarely go that far away from kerbin anymore. I focus on taking the stock physics of the game to make crazy STOCK working contraptions without mods and taking the game to it's limits. I found it more fun in my history to develop and share well refined crafts with the community than to do a bunch of tedious exploration missions to things thousands of other people have already discovered.
  14. And we even found time to hide something small in the game that we’re sure a lot of long time fans will appreciate! Hmmm. Wonder what this might be!? I look forward to figuring it out. Good work on bug-fixing.
  15. Doing some final testing with my new working mega-truck build for 1.1 Might release it this week. I have a basic shuttle on the way too.

  17. Won't happen until it's possible to make bearings like before
  18. How in the world did you build the bearing? I can't make a single one where the wheels don't become "overstressesed" or just clip through the rest of the craft. I don't think I will ever be able to build anything to share on the forum again. Anyways I hope you can at least keep the rotation dream alive and well. It's not like any of stuff using them was that great anyways. It's really cool how you exhaust force is working now. That might be something to look into.
  19. Sorry About The Minimalist Post... But here is my last release of the Kelaz 140T Ultimate Stock Dump Truck [1.0.5] Unfortunately all craft of mine using stock bearings are broken in 1.1 so to drive this you need to be playing in 1.0.5 Even though it is completely inoperable in 1.1 I still see it as the paramount I have ever been able to accomplish using only stock parts. Each wheel rotates freely and has a hydraulic powered Dump Bed and Plow. It is also 140 tons and can carry up to twice it's own weight. To use the bed press (G) to toggle the plow press (8) I hope you enjoy what might be my best and last craft using wheeled bearings. With the plow it is 360 parts. If you remove the plow and it's components it will only be 298 parts. You might want to do this if you have a weaker PC. This is the largest stock wheeled vehicle that I have ever built! Instructions on how to use it are in the craft description. Download:https://www.dropbox.com/s/sa996ytkh6jw3zs/Kelaz-140T%20%28Plow%29.craft?dl=0
  20. Yeah I can't actually make anything new or try to make any new systems until 1.1 is actually finalized. No point making something work in progress when the game mechanics themselves are a huge work in progress.
  21. I'm sorry guys but all of the work in progress items I have posted here are all cancelled as they have been broken. This includes the new Kelaz 140T stock dump truck and stock P1000 Ratte development preview. Due to unexpected changes attributed to the changes of wheel physics these crafts as well as all of my previous craft using bearings are unusable. I do not foresee being able to return to craft that use bearings for quite some time and therefore I have no more purpose here on the forums. I will only return once I find a new method to make my designed. Which might never happen. Since I will not being continuing development on any of the following I will provide download links to their development if anyone comes up with an inventive idea or just to archive them for 1.1 Kelaz 140T: https://www.dropbox.com/s/sa996ytkh6jw3zs/Kelaz-140T%20%28Plow%29.craft?dl=0 P1000 Chassis: https://www.dropbox.com/s/hw1injrphxoawg3/P1000%20Ratte%20Chassis.craft?dl=0 These are completely broken in 1.1
  22. The new 140T series will be released this next week. It is huge I know but actually a slight part count reduction compared to the Kelaz 80T series.
  23. Good picks. I won't be salty that for another week my stock contraptions don't get noticed Wind turbine is cool.
  24. Yeah I always hated those pop-ups. But don't have to anymore with adblocker. Dropbox though is just a lot better in general. Also Zekes if you could move some of your older craft from mediafire to whatever new file sharing system you switch to could really help me find inspiration for future projects? It feels like every forum change is specifically designed to stop Zekes.
