I've been playing this game for like two years now...
Commander Zoom replied to Frostiken's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Spaceplanes were never really planned to be part of the game. They just kind of happened, in large part due to C7 and his early parts mod, most of which are now stock. -
Nice looking ship! Hope you can solve that little instability problem. (One thing I see - it looks like you made your fuel modules by clipping some white tanks through each other with a 90 degree offset? Clever design, but that might be what's doing it - the system suddenly realizing, "hey, you've got two tanks occupying the same space, that shouldn't be!" BOOM)

[0.20]Apollo style spacecraft: Apokee MS
Commander Zoom replied to Temstar's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
A great update to an already excellent craft. If I wasn't so determined to use my own for this... -
[0.20] Subassembly Loader - 0.20 Compatibility Patch
Commander Zoom replied to TheUndeadFish's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Darkstrike: Known issue, unfortunately. The mod maker was supposedly working on it, but now, who knows... For now, at least, you'll just have to (as you said) reconnect all the hoses and struts yourself. -
How about just the last few, then? In any case, you're lucky I'm not too lazy to help you. the mod-maker's blog: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/blog.php/16471-Innsewerants

Thanks and fair enough, just wanted to be sure it had been seen.

Bumping/repeating my previous question:

A classic. Well done.
-
Congratulations on being tapped for the dev team! Perhaps (eventually) we'll see some of these features integrated into the stock game.

The Baxter MkI - A new rover concept
Commander Zoom replied to Parkaboy's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Great design, particularly the use of the cupola. (But then, I've been a fan of yours since the SPORE days - still subscribed, in fact. ) -
The first update i have actually been disappointed in
Commander Zoom replied to GalaxyGryphon's topic in KSP1 Discussion
As I keep saying, I've been playing this game for coming up on two years - since before there was anything to do but slap parts together and try to get into orbit (without orbital maps, just charts of height and distance) or make impressive fireworks. I'm fully prepared for it to take another two, or longer, before it's "ready." Maybe it's just a matter of age and perspective? To a kid or teenager, a year is forever. To an adult in his forties, it's nothing. -
Large Docking Adapter DOES Help Prevent Wobble!
Commander Zoom replied to Caelib's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I haven't flight-tested it, but in the VAB a Sr. connects just fine with a regular CoT or even a Jr. So... simpler all around, if the strengths are comparable. -
Thanks for making the Docking Cam a stand-alone module, as that's the only part of this light show that I'm interested in. The current installation is very tidy - no messing with config files, just delete it to get the original parts back. That's nice. However, it still gives me the IMO useless "Lazor Powered" configuration box in the upper left corner of the Space Center view, that I can neither move nor disable. I don't need this and I don't want it. Can you give me any way to get rid of it?

The loading screen artist is MK01, and you can find that image HERE, including the option to buy it as a print, a mousepad or a magnet.

Large Docking Adapter DOES Help Prevent Wobble!

The real test will be comparing these to Temstar's heavy-duty ports. -
Two men Eve landing and return (image heavy)
Commander Zoom replied to Temstar's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Another amazing achievement in imagination, engineering, and execution. Eve presents some tough problems and you handled them beautifully. (I'm particularly impressed by your "land on a mountain, drive to the beach" solution, and your trick for getting the Ranger capsule down safely.) Have you had a chance yet to see how the strength of the Clamp-O-Tron Sr. compares to your Heavy-Duty Docking Ports? I've been designing my own first interplanetary craft and was going to use the latter, but the simplicity (and lower part count) of the new stock part tempts me... -
While my first expeditions were with solar-powered rovers (as my crews were likely to land in sunlight anyway), I've since embraced the flexibility and reliability of nuclear power. Both of the rovers below are my latest designs, incorporating a completely safe RTG mounted just behind the pilot's seat. Here's my basic one-kerbonaut mini rover. Lean and light, it lacks the amenities of some larger and heavier rovers (lights, anti-flipping mechanisms) but can easily be attached to the side of a lander without throwing off its balance. Simply fire the probe-sized decoupler (not included; attach to the top of the probe core, pref. with the rear end/RTG pointing down), let it drop to the ground, and drive it away. Trials on Mun and Minmus have confirmed that it is capable of driving with one wheel disabled or entirely missing! As it lacks wheels, this is not so much a rover as a sled. Built for environments with very low or microgravity ("zero gee"), it's intended to greatly extend the range and endurance of the kerbonaut's own jetpack. On small bodies like Minmus, it can carry the pilot much further and faster than a conventional rover which must struggle for traction. Even with recent improvements, the RCS Sled still requires a skilled pilot with both hands free (one for the pitch and yaw controls, the other for the RCS quads). And while it allows for greater speeds and range, it also increases the possibility of mishap for a careless operator. Craft files: Mini Rover RCS Sled

How Do I Put A Rover On The Mun?
Commander Zoom replied to The Jedi Master's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
A small light rover (like some posted in the Rover Megathread, including my own) can be stuck on the side of a lander, with a decoupler to eject it when necessary, without greatly changing the CG. It's asymmetrical (unless you bring two), but it works. -
That would be Protractor, which helps you with the proper angles for interplanetary voyages.
-
I've already replaced my Temstar HDDPs with these, so I'll let you know. (Still using the Zenith family of boosters to launch everything, though.)
-
I dunno about the green color - artistic license, perhaps - but I've always assumed that Minmus was (1) an icy asteroid, comet nucleus, or similar "dirty snowball" type body, and (2) a relatively recent capture by Kerbin (supported by its distant, inclined orbit, and that it hasn't thawed or sublimed noticeably despite its new residence in the habitable zone around Kerbol).
