I honestly did too! I'm also surprised to see "Twelve a Dozen" handily beating KSP right now. Makes me want to take a look at it and see why so many people like it. -

Hey all! Kerbal Space Program is currently in the running for the award of best game-based tool for learning by KQED MindShift! They started with 32 games in a head-to-head bracket similar to the college basketball March Madness event. Each round lasts about 3 days and is decided by voters like you! Kerbal Space Program made it through the first round and is now in the Round of 16. Go vote and keep voting as KSP advances! EDIT: The final round of voting is open!!! Make sure you go vote! You can vote once per round so even if you've voted before, go vote again! VOTE HERE! http://ww2.kqed.org/mindshift/2016/03/15/2016-tech-tool-tourney-games-edition/

LEGO Vehicle Assembly Building on LEGO Ideas
Tex Mechs Robot replied to Tex Mechs Robot's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Well it isn't my project but I stumbled across it and thought that others here might like to see it :-) -
Thanks for the reply. I should probably install something to get me the ability to test PHP and MySQL projects. This is all so over my head that I feel like a noob lol. HTML and CSS are easy to test in any web browser without any hoops to jump through but that isn't the same with PHP and MySQL so I don't really know where to begin. This is what I was thinking anyway since I want it to be a web app so thanks for confirming that. If you wanted to help steer me along with the code then I would appreciate it a ton! EDIT: Looks like I need Apache, PHP, and MySQL in order to get started...

LEGO Vehicle Assembly Building on LEGO Ideas
Tex Mechs Robot replied to Tex Mechs Robot's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Go support it. It's a brand new project and needs 10,000 supports to even be considered by LEGO. -
Seems appropriate here :-) https://ideas.lego.com/projects/135315

This is basically the same media from my post. Same author and the title of the video is her twitter comment.

One of my favorite things about the KSP forum community is how civil it is compared to...well...every other forum/comment system on the interweb. We've all seen YouTube comments before. The mods here do a really good job of keeping us on track and we also tend to be a more thoughtful, understanding group than most. I saw this today and it made me laugh when I think about all of the times I have tried to argue with someone on the internet.

Why I find it hard to enjoy KSP right now...

So sorry to hear about your situation OP. Life and health truly are a gift with temporal consequences. -
TED talk on procrastination by Tim Urban )Wait but why)

fun read and watch :-) -
Okay. I've bitten off just a little more than I can chew and I'm looking for some direction. I have been tasked with designing a custom image storage application. I'm not a programmer but I am familiar with coding at a basic level and can usually figure things out with enough Googling and trial and error. Backstory: We are celebrating service anniversaries at work and have over 750 people included. Each of these people need to submit 1-3 photos. They typically email these and you can imagine how complicated that is to keep track of. I suggested "Why not create a web app where people can just upload their pics with required data to a shared server?" So I get to make this. It has to be simple (the entire page should only be about uploading an image from their computer and subsequent data fields). I've thought about using cloud features like Google, DropBox, Flickr, etc. and am only concerned that the added functionality of these services will over complicate the process for the end-user. I literally want a web page with simple controls, a database to hold the images and meta, and an API between them. HTML/CSS/JavaScript should get the front-end taken care of pretty simply and I think I can handle that side. I just don't know which language would be best for the API or what database to use. Thoughts?

If you don't already have your A&P license....GET IT. This will help you more than anything if/when you go to civilian life.

Fixed it for ya!

Unfortunately this date doesn't exist in the U.S. because we write our dates (apparently we gotta do EVERYTHING differently) 7/22/16.

I was lucky enough to work in a 6 story building very near to Johnson Space Center for a couple of years. This past fall (2015), three of these flew in formation over most of Houston (including JSC) for the first time since the 70's. I went to the roof of my building and got this video with my phone as they flew by. Then engines on this thing sound like nothing else!

I'm curious.. Any dog trainers in the KSP forums?
Tex Mechs Robot replied to SlabGizor117's topic in The Lounge
Thanks for the insight. The "jumping in and out of it" was referring to the next 2 months while I learn and prepare for the arrival of the puppy and not the actual training. I can see how that was misleading at first and you're absolutely right, the consistency during training is a HUGE factor. You've convinced me to get the book as well so maybe I can find a copy of it somewhere and use the DVD as a supplement to see the principles in action. -

I'm amazed you wrote that on a mobile device lol. I stick to 140 characters when I'm on mine! I did go to the website and it all seems to make a lot of sense really. I've got tons of time to think about it. I likely won't buy the book because I don't have a ton of time to read. They recommended a DVD set though that interests me because of how closely they say it follows the book and the visual learning will be easier for me to jump in and out of over then next couple of months. The title is "Back to Work" by Margot Woods. Have you seen this? -

I haven't used this method. I am getting a Labrador puppy in about 2 months though and have been thinking about how to train him for apartment living. I'll look into this method as an option going forward. Do you have any experiences to share?
