  1. Will it be posted to CKAN again as well? Greatly appreciate you updating this!
  2. Apologies is this is a well known thing, but, I am curious if it is possible to somehow temporarily disables mods (as opposed to removing them entirely). I'd like to remove them so I can play KSP without having to wait for all the mods I have installed to be updated. Is there a simple way to do this?
  3. While I don't think there is a conspiracy and I appreciate Squad posting information on how development will be affected by the departures (even if it wasn't on the KSP forums), I have to respectfully disagree that the developers are our friends when wearing their "business" hats. It is certainly possible that some folks strike up friendships with developers otherwise, but the only relationship that nominally exists between the developers and players is that of business and customer. Are people allowed to ask a business they are a customer of for answers? Sure! Does a business owe a customer answers? I'd agree no, the business is not obligated to answer questions of their customers. Is it in a business's best interest to answer customer questions. I'd say sometimes it is! Taking your stance that the developers are our friends actually allows one to make the argument that by that friendship they would be more open to discussion as that is what friends can do, right? Answering questions "when THEY think the time is right...on THEIR terms" is precisely possible because the relationship is that of customer and business and not customer and friend. All of that said, I am pleased that ultimately any concerns were unfounded and that development will continue as normal. I think one thing that we can agree on is that we are happy to look forward to a long future of continuing to play KSP and watch it grow!
  4. I have to agree with @kiwi1960. This is the first I've seen of this statement from Squad and I find it unfortunate that I had to see it in a quote that came from another site entirely. This issue is particularly salient to me but it also makes me wonder what other communications I may have missed.
  5. Thank you for making this post. Hearing your perspective is enlightening and appreciated.
  6. In my opinion, if one feels they are getting the most out of their money by playing stock, they should play stock. If one feels they are getting the most of other money by playing with mods, they should play with mods.
  7. No one here can really answer the OP's question. Any answer provided by someone not representing Microsoft, Sony, or Squad is pure speculation.
  8. I concur with @Red Iron Crown. It seems that many of the console gamers are using this thread as a medium to vent, which is totally fine. Personally, I decided that after my last largeish posting that I would just step back from the thread for the most part because I saw that the thread wasn't going to go away until the patch is released.
  9. Indeed, I definitely found that one. I expected he specifically meant a dev blog though. Either way, I think we can agree that thread does not discussed a released console patch, let alone multiple released console patches.
  10. Could you possibly link to that dev blog? I went back to October 2015 and couldn't find a "Dev Note" posting regarding a console patch nor can I find any information regarding a released console patch for KSP with a Google search. That fact aside, isn't this discussion still going no where?
  11. Welcome to the game and congratulations on the Mun landing! Good work!
  12. I have to mostly agree with Galileo. This thread was basically done the other day and then for reasons I will likely never understand folks started posting again seemingly for the purpose of riling people up. At this stage I think it is well known that the console game is broken. Anyone that researches the console version will be able to find sufficient information to inform them of such. I think people's complaints about the console version are valid, but I think they have also been voiced and heard. Also, some people feel Squad isn't the bad guy, some people think Squad is...and both opinions are totally fine! The only option that people have (regardless of platform) are to seek a refund from the vendor they purchased the game from or to wait for the game be patched. Posting additional complaints at this point its ineffective because Squad is already acutely aware of the complaints which, as I mentioned before in the thread, can be evidenced by a patch being in development. It isn't like the developers are going to see someone post another "the console version is broken" thread and say, "You know, we probably should go ahead and get around to releasing this patch I guess." They'll release it as soon as possible, undoubtedly. By that same logic, no amount of posting "You don't understand Squad! They are amazing and will fix everything just be patient!" will cause someone who is upset and feels they aren't getting their money's worth to suddenly feel mollified. What else is there left to say, really?
  13. @chimpbone - I 100% agree with you regarding the choice made to port the game. As customers, I realize this isn't our problem, but I suspect it was a business decision to go with the company they chose. An attempt to ensure that the decision to port the game was profitable. That doesn't mean customers should suffer, but I do understand the business making a decision to ensure it makes money. If it doesn't do that, it dies and then we have no game at all! While not as bad as the console version at the moment, there are multiple things in the PC build that require fixes as well and I can assure you that we too wait significant amounts of time for patches. I think at least a part of the issue (especially if you've been gaming since the early Nintendo days) is that the expectation is that console releases are "finished" games in a fully functional state with little patching needed. However, Microsoft itself is leading the charge to unify PC and consoles as much as is possible and the more that happens, the more I expect to see console releases that are buggy in this way. It's an unfortunate reality that if a company (any company, not just Squad), can pull the trigger on releasing a game and fix it later, while at the same time making a profit, they have to do it sometimes. I really do hope the patch is released soon for consoles so that the focus and conversation can change from "Why is the game broken?" to "How do I get into orbit?" or "How do I land on the Mun?"
  14. I'm sorry to hear that you do not feel confident. Although, I'd ask, do you truly believe they would have the patch ready and just...withhold it? For the record, I do not own it on a console. However, that doesn't disqualify me from commenting on the topic or make me an "apologist." If nothing else I am a consumer and can understand, from other games I have purchased, how it feels to pay money for a product and end up with something different then expected. I am not offended by you posting in any way, I was simply responding to you, which I would have expected was the purpose of you posting in the first place...to get a response. A fair point. Although at this point, by your own admission, Microsoft will not refund you. So I am confused as to what you are attempting to accomplish. One would assume that you are posting to get Squad's attention, but you already have it as they are working on a patch. Seeing as how Microsoft won't refund you, your only viable alternative is to be patient. I sincerely am not trying to be condescending, just trying to state a fact. Unless of course you're just posting to complain? Which is totally fine...as I said in my previous post, I empathize with you on not getting the product you expected but if you're just venting it's probably best people know that so they don't try to supply answers that you aren't actually looking for. I would say they need to spend as much time researching as needed to make them feel as though spending the $40 is a good proposition. I never said or implied that you personally didn't do any research though. I simply responded to your quote about "needing to be an investigative journalist."
  15. And they are working on a fix, as they say. I am confident that it will be released as soon as they possibly can do so. As far as Microsoft and Sony not letting you return it, it seems to me that you would need to take that up with them, right? I think we can all agree that the release in its current state was a mistake. I don't think anyone is arguing that fact at this point. However, it's the past and can't be changed at this point. I think the key thing to remember is that in time, the money you spent will still be money well spent. I do empathize that you bought something you expected to be working immediately and it isn't. I really do think that once you are able to play the game the way it was intended, you will not regret the money spent. The game is still being sold on console because it isn't in an unplayable state. It is in an extremely frustrating state, what with the inability to save, granted. But it can still be played and enjoyed to a degree. Is the current state optimal? Of course not. I'm not saying Squad didn't have a misstep here. However, I can point to other developers who released a broken game and then ceased development to "move onto other projects" forever leaving the game broken. That isn't what is happening here though. Functional game aside, I think I'd argue that whenever a person spends money they consider a significant amount, they should do significant research first.
  16. They have acknowledged the issues, indicated that a fix is in testing, and have hired external QAers to prevent this type of thing from happening again. I feel like that is the opposite of ignoring.
  17. @Snark - I keep reading through this thread and thinking of something I want to add to it, then I get to another one of your posts and find you've already said it eloquently!
  18. I'm not sure this is the proper forum, but, congratulations! It looks like a very nice station for a first go!
  19. You know...I did. And I swear I only saw 1.0.5. Time for glasses I think. Thank you.
  20. I have a, hopefully, quick question! I'm not sure that "Real Plume" is working. But I'm not sure. From some screenshots I expected to see more smoke, however when my rockets launch it usually looks similar to this: Is that the intended amount of smoke/aesthetic this mod provides? Thanks!
  21. Is anyone aware of any videos that demonstrated base construction in MKS Lite, from start to finish? If so, could you please link to it? I've done a bit of searching but can't seem to find one that shows the actual construction process. I would appreciate it!
  22. I have been trying to use the combination of LALT+F5 to make a named quicksave, however no dialogue to name the quicksave appeared. Pressing F5 on its own creates a quicksave as expected. Also, when trying other key combinations that require the MOD key, I noticed they don't work either. For example, MOD+F9 and MOD+F12. I assumed that perhaps I was wrong about my MOD key so I checked the settings.cfg file in \Steam\steamapps\common\Kerbal Space Program\ and it indicates the MOD key is: MODIFIER_KEY { primary = LeftAlt secondary = RightAlt group = 0 modeMask = -1 modeMaskSec = -1 I am not sure what might be wrong. If anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it!
