Where will we be in 1,000,000 Years?
Darnok replied to Emperor of the Titan Squid's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Kardashev scale is funny it assumes that "united planetary civilization" can be stronger and faster at progressing than divided nations making space race... how far EU or NATO went into space? Further than USA during space race? Also united civilization means we all would have same rights... what rights would that be? USA, Russian, Chinese, European or Arabic? United civilization is only possible if homo domesticus kills all homo sapiens, but homo domesticus is unable to invent things, so this civilization would die pretty fast. "multiversal civilization" - we have no proof for multiverse... so no. In 1 million years we will terraform many solar systems and many planets. Each planet will be like country today with different nation, different laws, different ways of thinking and culture. There will be many different races of our species, because each planet will affect human evolution differently. Since 200,000 years of our evolution created few so different races just because we were divided on few continents, then 1 million years of evolution on different planets will make those differences even larger. If any one thinks we are going to be Gods like creatures after 1 million years... then maybe you should take a look at evolution of species that has 1 million years or more- 38 replies

Darnok replied to Spaceception's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Why would your windows do what virus says? It should contain virus and alert you When you are giving something programmable to people you can't make it secure, it just won't work. It is impossible to secure device or software that is physically accessible to people. If you don't believe me, just name one device or software that was never hacked/cracked/"or whatever you call it". -

Programmable toothbrush infects programmable plane and plane crashes. -
It is bad idea to waste money on things you don't need. It is better to burn more coal and oil and have more money for developing space program that will payoff in near future, than waste money on clean energy. Clean energy still needs heavy industry to mine metals, produce solar panels and batteries, wind turbines needs lots of lands that can not be used in any way, you need lots of cables to connect them. And clean energy is expensive if you compare it with coal energy, we can't expand and invest more into new technologies if we waste money on tax-funding replacements for coal and oil.

This is nonsense, its not number of people that is problem, but american style of life, where you only consume energy and resources. Most of people blame China for CO2 production, but they are not aware that most of China industry is USA industry located in China, so USA could avoid bad PR and taxes. We shouldn't blame countries for production of things, because production is progress, we should blame and tax USA for 50+% of global consumption of energy and resources. Taxes should be changed, so we would pay for things we own, not for how much we earn. Another solution for large population density is expanse to the Moon and other planets for new lands and resources. Clean energy is bad idea, because you ruin your economy by funding solar or wind solutions from taxes. What causes money sink, for temporary solutions, and you can't afford to invest more into space programs.

If that kind of protection would be possible then software piracy would be non-existent -

Ohh right and someone that wants to make weapon to kill people will follow those guidelines. -
I don't blame Musk for having company, I am blaming him for getting money from taxes of people that doesn't have and probably even doesn't want his products. It is opposite, scientists ignore topics that doesn't get any rewards, are unpopular or leads to lower reputation. Which leads us to system where science is controled by people who fund and give rewards.

Programmable toothbrush that can be changed into knife inside plane... how nice. -
Any of them was sharing almost naked photos or sex tapes? Back then songs had words, but now they doesn't need words at all to sell "music" They even somehow modify tracks from old hits, like part of Tom Jones - Sex Bomb is in Lady Gaga - Poker Face and many others do same thing. You are selective if you can't see that majority is not interested in any broader views. Yes 1 out of 100 people know those names, but that is so little it doesn't matter, since majority decides (votes) where world is going. And how many people in your age doesn't know those names? That is my point, they don't have to agree with me, but making only criteria as "best selling thing" is where you promote fake body parts and punish creative work. It speaks to many simple people not that it have any meaning. And this is where science turned into wrong direction, it shouldn't be about prizes and grants, but about real answers Because if you do things for reward or money you won't write truth, you will write what will allow you to get money and reputation. Promoting power of authority in science is wrong, we should promote power of arguments, but since scientists get rewards and grants their arguments have more value than those who didn't get those.

Pop culture is most popular and most of kids are "watching" it, not other things. If you rise kids by showing them that "elite" of our society is showing body parts on public, taking drugs or doing other things I am not allowed to write in here. Then those kids are going to think that this is so cool and this is purpose of life, to be rich enough to do same things as their idols does. Sachs saved sold many countries, including the one I live in, so if you are not from country he saved (is there any country he saved?) don't mention him. What is deGrasse Tyson talent? Musk just wants more money, his electric cars are partially funded from taxes (~7000$ for each car, if I am correct), give me such funding from government and I will show you better direction for technology than he does. I am not limiting anything, I am talking about what is most popular for kids and young people and it is not science. Go and talk with 18-25 year old people, you will see that non of those names you wrote is known to them. As for celebrities it is interesting why we gave awards for best selling albums, but not for best content with universal meaning. That should promote content over pictures and meaningless words in songs.

Why? Today it is easier to sell fake body parts than interesting thoughts, so you don't have to be intelligent to become celebrity. Since sharing your views and thoughts is no unpopular, it is better to share your almost naked photos on social media to get more likes and fans. If art would develop forward into more civilized direction, then we would see more and more artists and celebrities sharing interesting work of their minds... thoughts and contents with deeper meaning. Meanwhile we are going backwards, back into barbaric times, where people are selling their bodies and the slaves celebrities, that fits best current fashion standards, are most precious to their masters managers.

Fame and money changes their perception and most of them isn't very intelligent, so they have troubles finding reasons to live... other than pleasure. Which in large doses is harmful to human health and psychology and this shortens their lives.

Frankly, I don't even *want* a v.1.2
Darnok replied to p1t1o's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
First 1.1.5 with stock remote tech and tons of new parts for ROCKETS... because this game is about rockets and space programs not only about planes (some futuristic and alternative methods of going into space also would be nice). Then 1.2 with multiplayer and after that polish and fix bugs, because multiplayer is going to change game a lot. -
Haha sure... tell me which country, here on Earth, is fully self sufficient and independent? They would shot laser into Earth to burn power grids, destroy satellites and starting rockets. And if that would be not enough they could use asteroids and bombard Earth, I would target Yellowestone

He can lift it because he is righteous. Take a look about way of life and way of thinking of Asgardians... Rogers was closest to those righteous ways, so he could move it a bit. Others are "infected" with current wrong and unnatural way of thinking, so they couldn't even move it.
