Black hole is last "element". But remember that elements are our creation only, they are like sections/paragraphs of matter, while matter itself is continuous.

How is this possible? (New Roscosmos space capsule)

So you think that US is best of the best and they are able to make cheapest and the best things until end of times? If no, then I don't understand why it is so strange that somebody could beat them. -
why the hell have we not gotten to mars yet
Darnok replied to alpha tech's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Because every expansion creates "wild west" like places, where current governments have zero control over people. Just look at history of British colonies, they were all profitable for some time, but after people get smarter they created local governments. And same thing is going to happen when we build self sufficient colony, it doesn't matter it will be on Moon, Mars or Venus. That is why no government is interested in huge investments that are going to be independent competition in near future, they have learned their lesson EDIT: Sorry, made post before read entire thread -
So how can I upgrade my TV with 5 years of usage? Only way it to buy new one, but that is not upgrade that is forcing people to buy new stuff. How can I upgrade my laptop, tablet or smartphone? I liked PCs because I was able to upgrade them... but today it is insane, we have to buy single use products. It is not only waste of energy and resources, but also waste of money. Wait, but technology and industry is not made for manufacturers to have business running 24/7, it is for us consumers to have easier life. So if "everyone has it" it means there is too much of this product on market and it is time to invest into something brand new or invent new technology that nobody has to earn money, right? This is what pushed companies to new branches of technology and to new ideas... but now we can have TV with 100 pixels larger resolution every 2 years, so much progress, so great new technology and innovation just WOW.
-
On industry, because we manufacture products that has very short live, we should make TVs that could be used for over 20 or even 30 years... it is XXI century? Making long-live products we would save not only energy, but also resources (metals for example) and environment less mines, less logistics, less chemicals dropped into rivers and oceans.

Kerbal Space Program 1.1 Hype Train Thread.

Ok, then show me evidence for fossil fuels and I will show you for "clean" energy. I doubt it you can save any money on maintenance of wind turbines in future. In free market we developed technologies that offered best revenue and that were giving advantage over competition. But now developing new technologies is on hold, because people with money have no idea what will be next world-saving law created by eco-governments. So those rich people won't risk their money on things that can be disallowed/illegal in next few months. Instead of looking for NEW energy sources they are focusing on technologies allowed and funded by politicians... what may lead us to huge trouble in future, IF those technologies are dead end. Now what if for 2-3 days in row there will be rain and lots of clouds? What if there will be no wind for few days? How many additional solar or wind power plants or batteries we need to cover such situations? Those are costs you have to consider and those costs are not going to be lower in future and are not going to work for profit for most of the time. The less reliable energy source the larger backup infrastructure is needed in case of emergency.
-
Wind is least reliable energy source from all we can use today. And it sounds funny, but what is wind power plan impact on local environment? It has to have some kind of impact since physics says we can't drain energy from environment and do not cause side effects/reaction/whatever you call it.

Based on our history I would say exploration and searching for habitable spots is good at early era. Just look how people grow on Earth, first we settle near rivers, because there were things we needed. Then we went further into land, because we learned how to make wells and shape land to fills our needs. IMO we are going to do same thing with space exploration... first we are going to search for "good spots", but later we are going to shape things as we need. Just look at UAE or China artificial islands this is late era of Earth exploration... in late space exploration era we are going to create planets of even solar systems and 30 millions years is rather late era for our kind

Maybe we should sped up things and make it hit Mars as soon as possible?

I read somewhere that after half of panel life-time its efficiency drops to about 50% (not verified) IF that is true then solar panels are not the future energy source we are looking for. How long solar energy market can last if governments stop funding it from our taxes? Gasoline or coal are not clean energy sources, I agree with that, but they are efficient from economical perspective, of course in free market environment. But right now we have government driven market... so from economical perspective those energy sources that are funded from taxes are more beneficial. Another things are how much chemicals and pollution you have to generate during production of solar panels? How much this technology depends on weather. I doubt it in Canada or UK you have enough light during year to make it main energy source and if country can't be independent in this critical branch... well it isn't independent in any other as well.
-
So how much energy does cost production of solar panel? And how long this panel has to work to generate that amount of energy? Also once we go 100% to electric... how you are going to produce, so much power?

And you are going to get updates and new features at same time, just not beta tests access
-
Different forms of distribution have different cons and pros. EDIT: People who bought it from store bought licence to use finished product, not access to any version of the game at any time. Steam offered beta testing experience for while now, so it was only matter of time when devs are going to use that feature.

Completely crazy idea? Or just might work? (It doesn't)

I have more crazy idea... remove heat shield and find a way to slow down to speeds that won't melt your craft? -
I wonder why nobody is trying to make Skylon with 4 engines (2 jets and 2 rocket)?

It is not about language, but about algorithm used to write data. In many formats you have different algorithms which means without it you have basically no idea what it does and how to read it. That is why I wonder how they are writing data on those disks. Like others said those books and texts are far smaller than 360 TB Also I can see this storage as next step for cryptography... steganography.
