  1. Wow, step away for ONE day and you miss AWESOME art! Oh and WHAT bugs? I have successfully used the Lunar SM and gotten around the Mun with a heavily boosted Titan IIIC (cause I don't fly efficient like) in JNSQ..... Mind you I have been playing KSP only a little in the last couple months.... (Blowing things up in games gives me more joy these days than building things ATM..... ) Um, I hadn't when you posted that so.....
  2. That is like asking why Tantares has English words all over the obviously Russian inspired/simulated parts. It is an inside joke between Beale and Cobaltwolf I think
  3. Given you have the 8096HDA which, if it was ever flown, was only flown on Ascent Agena (so late 1970s early 1980s Agena) yeah that is probably close to right not knowing your flight profile etc.
  4. As stated a couple posts above, the nodes on the BigG are in need of a little TLC. hopefully will be fixed in the next few days
  5. Most of the stuff you are referring to is POST GE Apollo "cancellation" And thus not part of this branch of the Apollo program. Rather you should be looking to and the, hopefully obvious: For your Apollo Advanced Applications and EtS needs. Between these three mods (including THIS ONE) I am able to run almost any Apollo mission.... Some are kludgy (LEM-SpaceLab) And some are less than perfect (LEM Shelter) But all are there and working.
  6. Nice, REAL NICE, Could you list what parts are in the Apollo Decent stage, I recognize the TR201/LM Decent engine, but not the tanks or engine mount.
  7. While the LR89s had Gimble, The video I have showing Their movement, the LR-105 is seen to move... SLIGHTlY. Mostly when the LR89s hit their stops. That could just be a shockwave running through the structure (or an optical illusion.) I don't THINK the LR105 gimbals! I know the LR89 Gimbal was supposedly for "Roll Control" Making the LR101s PITCH control and or YAW control. But.. as we all know, none of us worked on the program so we are GUESSING
  8. ACtually, and I admit I am guessing. Having the Boosters vertical will likely give the LR-101s more "power" on the pitch over (2 are pitching instead of 1 plus the other side sorta fighting it) Hey, Battletech Advanced 3062 released their long awaited Clans update and I have been down that rabbit hole for the last two weeks. I get that
  9. So a lot of the Titan II hardware is left over from the ICBM military roll. But there are already "Generic" Titan Separation motors (the Star-8 Triangular SRMs) The various SRMs were used to turn the 2nd Stage Broadside to the flight path after warhead separation. As the 2nd Stage started re-entry it would break up into a large cloud of metal debris.... and things like the LR91 Engine, would have a similar or larger RCS than the actual Titan II B-53 warhead. So basically the 2nd stage became a giant Chaff cloud during re-entry. Anti-Ballistic Missile weaponry DID exist in the 1960s contrary to all the buzz words and complaints you might hear about it today. In fact the Worlds fastest Accelerating missile, appropriately named the Sprint, is part of the old US, tested and proven functional Safeguard (and it's predecessor) systems. Along with LIM-49 Nike Zeus / Nike Spartan. Re Titan I 2nd Stage Sep motors. Personally I have only ever seen them painted Dayglow Orange for tests, or Dark red (like in game.) That is NOT counting the ones at various "Titan I museums" where I swear they don't know how to accurately replicate the color on the missiles at all! Any alternate color, real or imagined would be up-to Cobaltwolf and company. Having just spent the last 30 minutes looking at Titan I pictures online, Every picture of the rocket motor is either Red, Dayglow Orange (aka BRIGHTER than fluorescent Orange aka the brightest man made pigment) or and I want to stress that the third color I found was ALWAYS in over exposed film. Black (Which I believe is actually the Dark red we already have!)
  10. And that volume starts increasing at about the age of 16 *scrambles to find something BDB_enough to post to stay on topic..... eh...... em..... Do you mean the LMSS? because I am racking my brain (not a hard thing to do today) to remember what GMSS stands for. Didn't comment on this earlier. Love the Zinc Chromate Green color! And thanks for more Simple Fairing options! *THERE I found on topic content! *
  11. They were in Which is why I do the 3x 3x 3x arrangement. Because while holding the SHIFT key, you can properly arrange them. The only problem in that is the 4x and 7x booster arrangements (but as I said previously, I don't know if it was ever flown) And incidentally Editor Extensions does not play any nicer than Stock with any of these three configs. PS the 43degree offset is for the TVC Air lit motors (at 34 degrees the bells would collide.) I am uncertain, if the original config had this space (for the Inital Castor IV launces with 9 SRMs did not have the Thrust Vectoring Air lit version...) I know all previous (N-6, M-6) launches had 2 groups of three with no separation between the groups (the 34degree offsets in your pictures Dragon01) PPS: This arrangement DOES NOT work for larger SRMs, just the GEM40 and Castor II/IV in a 6x, 6+3 or 9x Arrangement. Here is a picture of a 6 SRM stage so you can see visually what Dragon01 is talking about: And here is a picture of the (it actually FLEW!) 4x Arrangement: This one has 2 SRMs 34 Degrees apart and the other two are 86degrees from the same side paired. You can see the 43degree mounting point clearly (the two black dots with the vertical lines below them) Notice the SRM attachments line up perfectly. Nice Build and critique! Love the use of the Crayola colors (look it up if you don't believe that is their name) But a key thing..... Age is a state of mind! your body just tells you otherwise every day And the older your body thinks it is, the louder IT gets
  12. *Checks work ID for Job title* Doesn't say I am your task master! Looks at Cobaltwolf's work badge... Says Cobaltwolf is Cobaltwolf's own taskmaster..... scratches head.... you asked for permission why? Ok Seriously: Yes please do what you need to do! Also, PLEASE do everything you need to NOT BURN OUT! Gemini is a LOT of parts. It doesn't ALL need to be done today End Seriousness (insert stupid give it to me now meme here before posting) ================================================================ But an idea for the basic Thor stuff. Given "Remove from Symmetry" is now a thing, I would re-suggest the addition of 9 nodes around the boat-tail for the Castor Decouplers to attach on to. Making them surface/node attach. That way 9 Decouplers can be placed, and then with remove symmetry can be broken into the 6+3 burn profile or some decouplers can be removed (to even do that funky looking 4x and 7x booster options that I don't think ever actually flew) Personally I don't have an Issue using 3x symmetry and holding the shift key to get the SRMs in place. in 3 groups of three and then lumping them into 2 groups for burning and ditching the waste SRM casings. Oh and if the idea sucks, throw it in the trash
  13. Nice, Care to share how you made it? I attempted this as part of the Saturn INT-16 launch a week or so ago and Could not make it mesh well. Too many points of part intersection. PS that proposal is for Saturn, as well OTHER things
  14. I would add that the very first message in this Thread has all the links to ALL the dependencies. So you can just go to message one and click on the individual links to download those files
  15. Just further proof I am a recovering Know-it-All........ Which makes me a Know-It-Most BTW Joking aside, I was un-aware of the S-II being external. I knew the S-IV/-IVB was internal by all the drawings I have of those stages (nothing not shared before. But then again I do remember a picture somewhere of almost a "nylon fabric" on the S-II tank so......
  16. Actually that is nothing like what an Unpainted Saturn V would look like. All the Insulation on Saturn V is INTERNAL meaning it (the Saturn V) would look more like an un-painted Atlas.
  17. Of-course this means I have to delete the Brexit half of the original CRE... Bye Bye Excelsior! The new Bluestreak is looking real good. I can't wait for the mod to come together. Been playing with the Stenator Rocket plane a bit. It is a enlarged Civilian adaption of the Blue Steel Nuclear Cruise missile
  18. Eh, CMB IRL is 50" in diameter which is 1.27m. In KSP scale (x 0.64) would be SLIGHTLY smaller than 0.9375m (at 0.8128m.) So at the scales used in BDB, 0.9375 is about PERFECT size (maybe slightly small but closer to correct than 0.625 or 1.25m.) Now a lot of mods use 1.25 and that is fine... But, unless their parts use the same scale factor... the CMB/APAS/CADS/WhateverYouWantToCallIt ends up looking HUGE. Checking the web I found the Dimensions of the most modern iteration (the US designed IDA which updates the existing APAS-95 on the ISS to the new NDS or IDSS system. 1.6m to the outer skin of the extension which is actually BIGGER than the docking port by about a decimeter 1.6x0.64= 1.024m.... 1.5x.64 = 0.9375.... So for ISS type docking ports the physical part should be on the 0.9375m size (by math.) While CADS is part of the Eyes Turned Skyward Alt timeline it is basically an APAS-75 with minor changes. Now my opinion:
  19. /sigh... Fair enough. I figured that was why Saturn was not on the list so I hadn't asked. And Sadly, It TOTALLY makes sense given the scope and breadth of a Saturn Revamp. But could we request one of these fairings on a 3.75 BDB plate (not a Saturn specific Fairing, but rather just re-use one of the existing fairings like say Titan IV?) EDITED.... Or since I just saw that you are planning on a 3.125-3.75m PLF for LDC, could that 3.75m Fairing be on a 3.75m plate as well?
  20. First off thanks for reaching out about your concern! I know you have been playing KSP for a lot of time but the link below is still your best first step to get a solution. Other than that, I have a suggestion for you, one that some people won't agree with: QUIT using CKAN... Or alternatively if you feel compelled to use CKAN; EVERY TIME you have a new mod update. DELETE your KSP folder and start with a fresh install! My opinion and why:
  21. Sure, And then it became the more commonly known Auto-Body pinstripe tape! Historian mode ON: Back in the late 1950s and early 1960s most cars did not have pin-stripes. Rather they had big honkin pieces of chrome plated accent pieces. A 57 Chevy could have as many as 500+ pieces of chrome plate on it! Then several custom shops started making high quality custom cars that had a clean, mostly chrome free look with a pinstripe on them instead of chrome. This reduced the "bright shin" of the chrome and replaced it with a more subtle, less gaudy look. It was hand painted pin stripes (usually 2 of different thickness) running down the length of the car. These were painted with no template, no tape and no straight edge. If you have seen the Nicholas Cage remake of "Gone in 60 Seconds" There is a Scene where Robert Duvall is hand painting a stripe. Surprisingly he seems to have done it OK (or was it Hollywood Magic? ) But in the mid 1960s Auto-Body pin-striping tape started to come out..... Gemini may have been it's first use (but I have no proof of that)
  22. While it is too bad you were unable to work on Gemini as much as you thought you would this week, Two things; I am GLAD that you got the pinstriping done. I know you were not looking forward to that alternate texture. I am also glad you chose to dull it down, With the limited color pallet in KSP true black would have too high of a contrast and rather jarring I think the depth mask experiment looks pretty good. So this means you can drop parts in without having to use the offset tool to get them "under the skin" so to speak? Ok History time (and something I only learned in one of the last two BDB streams) The "Stripes" on the Service modules are actually Auto-body pinstripes! They are not painted on nor are they part of the skin. Cobalt has pictures of the SM under construction with this tape and you can see it is not always applied perfectly (bends) and my favorite is where there is a piece of tape hanging off the SM... So basically NASA, and their contractor (McDonald?) gave the dull white Service Module a visual style upgrade. I have seen nothing in any of the myriad of Gemini documents I have to indicate WHY but I am guessing it is for some Ground to Space or Space to Space Observations as it was only flown on the first few flights in this condition. For those that do not know what Auto-body Pinstripe tape is check the link below. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FL7CEZ0/ref=sspa_dk_detail_6?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B01FL7CEZ0&pd_rd_w=0Rdhp&pf_rd_p=48d372c1-f7e1-4b8b-9d02-4bd86f5158c5&pd_rd_wg=dEDGb&pf_rd_r=V51AQA4MT69MZYXPKKCS&pd_rd_r=d9372080-6b19-4629-9ffc-22921f24e87e&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExTDZKWjNLN1NaUUZCJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwOTM5MTAzMVZaQlhXRVNBSVNWWCZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwOTQzMzc1TkZNQjZXQTA4U0VOJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfZGV0YWlsJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ== I grew up in an auto body shop and by the age of 4 I was "helping" with the wet sanding (a miserable job, and I never got real good at it.) I never learned many of the skills but some of them still stick with me today. Sadly Pin-striping, Painting and Using bondo to fix everything are not in my skill wheelhouse (although the last is probably good given the amount of bondo caused wood rot I have had to excise from my house over the last few years!)
