  1. I'm happy to say my city has finally recovered, back up to 95k population and the bank account in the black. After being down to 30k pop and about 875k in the hole. Had a little hiccup when I accidentally let over 1000 dead bodies pile up.
  2. I saw a similar video, not MB. Always cool
  3. Nah. I wrecked my city all on my own. But I have saves so I can always go back if I can't salvage it.
  4. I've been able to spot it a few times, sometimes trailing a cargo ship. It makes me wonder, do cargo ships ever approach from "in front?" If you do a Google image search for "iss pictures from the ground" you can see what sort of pics people have been able to take. No such luck for me though; I don't have anything that can track, never mind something moving that fast.
  5. So I've now noticed, as I try to recover my ghost town. I think I almost have it functioning again; the population is growing and the budget is almost balanced. But I'm over 500k in the hole so I can't build power lines if needed.
  6. It's been stated somewhere that RTLS has a 30% payload penalty
  7. I agree that that is a great little mod. The one thing I found lacking is that it's hard to tell if you're correcting in the proper direction when the closing velocity is near nil As for docking with no aid at all, I can, but I'd rather not. The way I learned to do that is by constantly switching ships to keep targeting the other docking port, which gets tougher with a big station.
  8. Thanks for that, that cuts down on a lot of drudgery. My ghetto is certainly keeping the auto-dozer busy. I still haven't managed to recover it yet, despite trying a few different strategies. The best I could do so far is slow the bleeding.
  9. Yeah, you'd think they were a city of kerbals. But that's nothing compared to SC4, where you can torment them with earthquakes, tornadoes, and gigantic robot attacks.
  10. The last SimCity I played was SimCity 4. The one fun thing from that that I find missing in CS is the disaster feature. Other than that it's great, but traffic is always a pain, like any other City sim. Today I wanted to get the "Observatory" which requires 1000 abandoned buildings, so I cranked up the taxes. My population crashed from over 100k to 30k, ending with a sea of red ink on the city's bottom line. The population has recovered to about 60k so far, but the budget is still wonky. I still have an awful lot of bulldozing to do. All those black w/grey house symbols are abandoned buildings waiting to be bulldozed, and that's just a small portion of the city. A fair number of bodies to pick up to, since I've slashed the medical budget.
  11. Apparently you've never tried to land near the south pole of the Mun. I never did get him home, and that pic is from 2014!
  12. Woohoo! That was an awesome thing to see! Of course I was driving home from work at the time, but when dropping off one coworker I checked the thread to see that it had landed, then watched the vid as soon as I got home. For those who asked about securing the rocket, it is pretty stable with all the engine weight at the bottom. For more security, they will weld "shoes" OVER the landing legs (someone had said just welding the rocket to the deck. Not quite)
  13. I just found out I'm getting the 13th off due to shortage of work (it's the slow season in the Cdn retreading biz) so now I'm really hyping, er, I mean hoping that 1.1 drops on the 12th
  14. This. KAC was the first mod I ever got and it'll be the last I'd do without.
  15. I would say "pick two." I don't think you can have them all
  16. The bigger expandable modules like the B330 are designed to have the equipment in the core, and once expanded the habitable space is between the core and the shell.
  17. I was trying to come up with a chat name, and I had always wanted to be an astronaut, but that wasn't gonna happen. StrandedonEarth was already taken, of course, since Yahoo chat is (or was) a mighty big world (until it was overrun by bots). So it was originally StrandedonEarthsince1970, which was a bit of a mouthful. Now, whenever I set up a new username or email, I take StrandedonEarth if I can. Given the nature of the game, I was somewhat surprised that it was still available here, but then, I did get in kinda early (Oct 2013). Edit: and btw, although it's off-topic, I met my wife on Yahoo chat
  18. Some people think mucous is funny, but it's snot.
