  1. After a 4km/s insertion burn, my Moho Orbiter+Lander probe achieved orbit around, of all places, Moho. Then I discovered I forgot the antenna. So I turned the whole mess into an impactor instead... Luckily my older-model Eve Orbiter Lander Tandem has antennas. It seems I lost them when I upgraded the probe cores for the MOL
  2. Coming around the on-ramp onto a local bridge with a long, somewhat steep climb to the middle of the bridge, I always get a little radio crackle in my head "Go for main engine burn!" After winding out 3rd gear to the top of the bridge I can smell the catalytic converter cooking...
  3. I finally visited the Armstrong Memorial, courtesy of the Anomaly Surveyor Contract Pack. I was gonna post pics, but then I realized I didn't want to spoil it for others.
  4. What, do you use an SSD? I just thought of some.... "Switching SCA to Aux" "Generating Kerbal Memes" That and loading screen images...
  5. I was waiting for someone to bring up that show...
  6. Makes you think that it's a wonder the engines re-fired at alI. I wonder how much of that was from that persistent post-landng fire
  7. May the Force be ever in your favor? The Rocky Horror Picture Show was lame
  8. After hearing about that in this thread, I found this: http://www.floridatoday.com/story/tech/science/space/spacex/2016/05/16/landed-spacex-rocket-suffered-max-damage/84454230/
  9. Once, when using TAC Life Support, I was running low on supplies so I had to do an extra burn to hurry up back to Kerbin from Minmus before the crew died, shaving several days off and coming in hot!
  10. I enjoyed The Chronicles of Shannara. It's based on a series of books by Terry Brooks, of which I have read many of the older ones. The first 10 episodes of the Chronicles is loosely based on the book The Elfstones of Shannara (one of the best in the bunch, IMO). The names are the same (although some are borrowed from other novels in the series) as is the basic overall plot, but the story is quite different. I was disappointed that some elements of the novel were omitted, but I understand that it would have been difficult and expensive to bring those to the screen. The Shannara Novels. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the 2003 remake of BattleStar Galactica. I though that was an excellent series, dark and gritty. And Number Six was just wowsers. They did try to get a bit more realistic, for while they did have FTL drives, they used bullets, missiles, and RCS, and not a laser to be seen. The old 1978 BSG, inspired by the original Star Wars, didn't have FTL but had lasers everywhere, and was more kid-oriented.
  11. If that was the case, California would be sued for their wildfires the last few years. So I'll assume this was an attempt to be funny This wildfire did erupt quite suddenly, fed by high winds and jumping pre-existing firebreaks like highways and rivers.
  12. Some of you may have heard of the wildfire that forced the evacuation of the entire population of 80,000 people from Ft. McMurray, Alberta, Canada. Musician Neil Allen from Alberta made this Alberta anthem, as a tribute to the firefighters who saved 80% of the city ("only" 2500 structures burned) and as a fundraiser for the disaster relief fund. Video on the website: http://www.thewolf.ca/2016/05/13/the-new-fort-mcmurray-anthem/
  13. Launched a space station expansion with a crew return taxi. I love lifting such long payloads like this, replacing struts with docking ports (set to stage with the decouplers) that auto-connect on the pad. Very rigid. It was also fun to do a Shuttle-style launch, ramping up the LRBs to full thrust before firing the SRBs and releasing the launch clamps simultaneously. Also, the D.O.L.T. (Duna Orbiter Lander Tandem) arrived in the Duna system and completed the "Duna Flyby," "Explore Duna" and "Explore Ike" contracts, It used an experimental NERV engine to be tested in solar orbit, and tested again in Duna orbit. A very profitable mission! Last but not least, an un-named engineer posed with a mysterious craft on the Mun while trying to unlock its secrets
  14. Yes, it seems we need to agree to disagree and see what the future actually brings That would be faaaaantastic! Then the movie studios would have a real idea on how it should look for their movies.
  15. I had a Kirk Kerman, a long time ago in a version far, far away.
  16. Launched the ACK (Asteroid Capture Kontraption). It was in solar orbit trying to line up for a correction burn when I realized the solar panels hadn't deployed (software glitch, yeah, that's why, yeah). So I immediately launched "ACK-2, Baby!" to catch and jump-start it. Now I have two ACKs looking for new targets.
  17. Wow that must have taken a ton of trial and error to get that to work
