At least that happens to be the weekend that I'm moving. I'll be too busy to notice the forums are offline

Don't forget to stop and smell the flowers

Less than a month to go for Star Wars Episode 7: The Hype Awakens! I found the International Trailer on Space.com, which has scenes that weren't in the US trailer. Link for those who haven't seen it yet
Today I learned how to put a coin on my elbow and then snatch it out of the air with the same hand.
Oh wow. I learned that trick from the show "Happy Days" around 35 years ago. I think my record is 10 coins

I first landed and returned from Moho back in, I think it was, 0.23.5. It seemed pretty easy, but then I used a 12km/s dv tug and nuke-powered lander for practically everything. When I went back in 0.90, I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong, cuz I kept running out of fuel. I finally noticed that I had to use the "right " transfer window, to arrive at Moho at the right part of its highly eccentric orbit. I just don't remember what part of the orbit that was, Ap or Pe. I probably also managed to leave Kerbin at the An or Dn. I haven't had a lot of time to play lately, hopefully I can try to go back there before 1.1, unless I sandbox it.
Around an hour ago the power went out so here I am stuck on my phone using the remnant of my battery life. Anyways, discuss and post stories of your own power outages if you want.
You got walloped by the same storm we did, luckily we only lost power twice for a few minutes each time, although the downtown part of my city was out for awhile. Some pretty pictures on the news of the sky being lit up by exploding transformers in North Vancouver as well. Edit: forgot to mention the wind did a number on my fence too. I also saw a friend's video of a transformer on fire, but she panned away just as it blew up

How to sterilize the interior of a spaceship?
StrandedonEarth replied to InterCity's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Yeah, viruses should be able to survive hard vacuum. Heat is the best, they'd need to cook the inside of the ship. The ship is radiation shielded, but a lot of radiation from inside the ship should also work. -
The thing with land speed records is that it is really just a controlled flight that forces it to stay on the ground. Hit a small bump that lets the airflow get under the nose and it's airborne, if it doesn't flip right over backwards, unless it has an obscene amount of downforce. The major challenge is building wheels that won't fly apart from centrifugal force. That's why the wheels on that car are over 200lbs apiece

Why Bill is dump :-(
StrandedonEarth replied to Pawelk198604's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
IIRC The training program is: Orbit the Mun, plant a flag on Minmus, then pop into solar orbit then land back on Kerbin. Good for 3 stars. -
Oh great, a lolcat thread, just what I needed, an excuse to waste time on the Cheezburgr site, when I could be KSPing, or at least KSP foruming. Ah well, here we go

I had that happen to me yesterday with a Terrier. Throttle was maxed, I hit space several times, hearing the 'click' each time, and finally had to right click to light it. I've used a similar sat/vehicle combo (Okto with early science gear, nose cone, fuel tank, Terrier, all on top of a Kickback) many times; I think the only difference with this one was the ScanSat radar antenna. I didn't have time to look into it further, unfortunately.

For all the massive complex things people build on here...
StrandedonEarth replied to Draconiator's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I gotta admit that looks pretty sweet. Seems to have a little t of SW heritage in it. I can see elements of X-wing, TIE Interceptor, A-Wing, even a bit of Jedi Starfighter. It's like someone tried to build a ship out of a pile of wreckage on Tattooine or somewhere -
I would think your lungs should be able to absorb enough water vapor to keep you alive, if not healthy. Edit: If you're breathing enough water vapor, that is. And not drowning in it, either. Fun Fact: Scientists were baffled because the giant redwoods on the California coast were so tall that capillary action shouldn't have been able to move water to the top. Then they discovered that the tops of the trees were absorbing water from the fog that frequently rolls in. Link

Black and white, night or day?
This is not about the atomic bomb, but I remember seeing not too long ago something about medium bombers during WWII making sure they didn't come in and drop their load too low and caught in their own bomb-blast.... guess it doesn't take a nuke to make bad thing happen if you're not paying close attention.
That reminds me of some wild rides I had after dropping 500-1000lb bombs while too low in CFS3, which often resulted in lithobraking. Even more fun was dropping bombs on the runway during my takeoff roll.

Yesterday I made this, uh, thing to go "roving" around the KSC to collect some early-career science for the "Field Science" contract pack... It wasn't very controllable. Bad Bob!

Randazzo nailed it. The original sport reference was that brooms aren't needed to sweep a series or podium, aside from curling or the fictional sport of quidditch.

I apologize for the confusion. I may have been overly obtuse with this one, trying not to make it too easy. I have hints and another couplet in mind but I fear they may give it away. To expand on my last hint, I can only think of one real sport that uses this common household and workplace item to play, although the verb commonly associated with this item is used in some other sports.
-
I'm on mobile so I'll do my best to clarify: - it helps bring order - made from plant or plastic is correct - Line 2 is probably the best hint. I thought my first draft of that line was too easy - The verb for what it does is used in many sports, but the item itself is used in very few - this common object has been in use for centuries or more Edit: flowers is a good guess and fits fairly well, but is wrong
