Station contract to Kerbin orbit-->Mun/Minmus orbit--> Kerbol orbit--> Duna orbit--> Ike surface= $profit! I also discovered that docking a sat or lander to a large tug and then undocking it seems to count as "launching" it. I've done that to fill a few sat and station contracts with vessels that were launched from Kerbin long before the contracts were accepted. The first one was quite by accident, I was shocked to see I had filled a contract.

If you use KAC, it'll make backups of previous quicksaves you can access from the alt-F9 menu. It's saved my green bacon many times. That said, my worst moment is when I haven't quicksaved for a few hours of playtime, and then something goes wrong. Like discovering my interplanetary transfer has shifted way outside the target SoI and I'm too close to correct.

It'll stop when the dead battery has charged enough to put out almost enough voltage to equal the voltage from the good battery. The Voltage drop due to the internal resistance in the dead battery will continue to generate heat. That's if it charges at all since you generally need more voltage than a battery produces to charge

Orion designs also use the intense radiation of a nuke to vaporize a thin layer of the ablative pusher plate, generating some more thrust. Rocket engines, solid or liquid, are essentially continuous, controlled, directed explosions. Put an explosive charge in a tube and you'll create thrust. But for evasive maneuvers, I'd suggest something like sepratrons pointed sideways
