Ask the Mods questions about the Forums!
StrandedonEarth replied to Dman979's topic in Kerbal Network
I'm noticing that "The Daily Kerbal" subforum isn't getting much love lately. Does whoever wears the "Community Manager" cap these days need a kick in the SAS a friendly reminder or is KSP so mature that The Daily Kerbal should be deprecated? -
Happy Kerbal Space Program 11th Anniversary!
StrandedonEarth replied to Ghostii_Space's topic in 2022
You can't see the Round-8 tank from that angle Never mind that it would probably only hold about one second's worth of propellants for an engine of that size... -

An article from WaPo with a rather brief history of ULA. In other words, a BO/JB fluff piece...

Finished The Shining after bogging down for awhile in the beginning. Now I’m reading the sequel Doctor Sleep, and it’s got me hooked from the get-go

Sun Guns Instead Of Lasers For Space Travel
StrandedonEarth replied to Spacescifi's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Maybe if you have a Ringworld-sized superconducting grid to magnetically manipulate the Sun’s plasma, it might work… -

The thing is, I see emergency Starship deliveries, whether for relief or military purposes, as a strictly one-way trip, since refueling depots would either be non-exisitent or very tempting targets. Good for limited quantities of gotta-have-it-now supplies, but not much else. But it could presumably land anywhere flat enough and safe enough. -
How predictable is a ship underway in heavy seas? Even with stabilization, could it not tend to lurch side-side or speed up/slow down due to wave action? Easier to just try to stay still is my intuitive thinking, which I admit does not always match reality

What have you been playing recently? (Other than KSP)

Just finished a round of Civ6 as Kongo, taking four achievements in that round (District 12 and a 30-pop capital were the ones I was gunning for, along with the standard Kongo victory and a fourth wonder-related one that popped up when I captured the wonder). But the victory was sweet, after slogging through other civs I managed to KO the last two in one turn. Since you only have to capture the capitals for a domination victory, on one turn I captured one capital, then nuked the last civ's capital and rolled a tank in for the game-ending victory. Huzzah! -

now they just need some image stabization on the deck cam, or is some of that refraction effects from the hot gases being blown around? -
Seems like they’re moving away from the concept of landing on a moving ship… Always in motion, the future is…
