This is interesting... I recommend instead of tiny bubbles in the carapace you go with dedicated globules filled with air.As class A will weaken it as it will have to be quite porous to float and support anything built on it. Other than that the idea sounds somewhat feasible.Well other than mother nature is a nagging **** that hates the gut of our every move so this will probably do some sort of damage to the ecosystem.

I think there was a news factoid hanging around the forums for some time that astronomers have discovered a solar system 1 AU in size (roughly the size of Kerbol solar system). But not sure if it was true or not.
-
Its nice to see how such wacky ideas are benefiting from kickstarter as traditional publishers wont fund much in something that they arent certain that they will get their investment back.

Haha i was thinking about making an armor drone out of it but as far as its my design choice,i wouldn't have it expend propellant.I am conservative about that sort of stuff. but as even with these shields battles wont last long, one is bound to miss so they wont be expending much fuel.
-
Alas the real world will not be a one full of dramatic space battles that drag along as the craft dig trough their shields and then their armor.Because for one we have absolutely no idea how to make energy shields and modern weaponry is a one hit kill, not to think of an shaped charge missile, almost impossible to dodge. And armoring a ship sounds a bit silly as you will have less deltaV,even if you use a Whipple shield(seen below) wrapping an entire ship is not ideal. So here is my take on things: Why dont we take a big shield and mount it on a long robotic arm that adjusts to incoming weapons fire. It tracks via radar incoming projectiles and positions itself accordingly. PROs Suddenly placing armor everywhere seems overredundant as a patch can cover the entire ship, this means you can have your deltaV cost back from armoring the entire thing. can be used for tilting pitching yawing when you are out of monopropellant. CONs it will be hard to block things like smart missiles, relativistic projectiles, lasers and enemy fire incoming from multiple sides(unless you have more than one) and depending on how fast the arm moves it will be hard for it to block arcs of fire or a missile that dodges the shield last second. All that moving will make some annoying swaying of the ship unless rcs/gyros can counteract it. So this is my idea you are welcome to shoot it full of holes and/or congratulate me for thinking of something fairly original.

do you think kerbals have there own memes like for instance: Forever a ground bound (kerbal version of forever alone mixed with a little bad luck Brian that details how one can never reach space). Didnt get chosen for kerpollo 15,forever a ground bound. or Faulty booster (kerbal version of Murphy's law where if something can go wrong it will go wrong). Thats a nice rocket you have there, would be a shame if something where to happen to it. etc etc. And also names like Danny would mean utterly crazy but ingenious and the name Scott would carry, intelligent and knows his **** kind of messages.

Professor Kerbenstein's wonderous vertical propulsion emporium.
MC.STEEL replied to Kerb-fu's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
"Whale oil"? Dishonored reference? Anyway this looks great its a nice blend of Da Vinci mixed with steam punk witch is an interesting mix. -
Chicken walkers please! but if i have to pick a specific model i would pick the bf 2142 EU walker, that thing looks like a tank on two legs. (The PAC walker was nice too.) Humanoid mecha doesent really have much sense unless you are using a giant sword as your primary, but still it is unpleasingly mobile for something that big. Now i see that titan fall does something in between where the body is a pod shaped cockpit with legs and arms, thats not half bad too but i guess i am a bipedal tank die hard.

Miranda. My new favourite solar system body?
MC.STEEL replied to vetrox's topic in Science & Spaceflight
While we talk about funny planet names we should just say it in generic Slavianic style - "Uran" spelled "ãрðý", it eliminates the trouble of Ur-anus and the weird Urin-us (witch sounds like urine to me ). Im sure CGP grey has a video about the unfortunate planet.after all that is where i borrowed the Slavianic naming. -
The effects of a minmus analogue on earth?
MC.STEEL replied to WhiteWeasel's topic in Science & Spaceflight
By a hardly scientific, non calculated and heavily biased estimate i deduct that the effects would be negligible at best. Our planetary neighbours act on us but the effect is almost nonexistent so why should Minmus counterpart be different. Culturally wise there would be a bigger difference of having an object brighter than Venus in the sky (again did not calculate) and another body for near future exploration to take place. This could even extend the space race of the cold war era (probably). -
the "Greenwich" meridian of the galaxy
MC.STEEL replied to MC.STEEL's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Yea i guess there is no need to change it until our galactic neighbours start nagging about Solcentrism -
I didnt really like anything other than industial style until i played Dishonored witch grabbed me to love it. I allso didnt like neon coated cyberpunk until i tryed out Nitronic rush And now i am hooked, cant get enough of those two. But i hate futurist styles that feature only curvy surfaces i dunno why but i dont really want to look at them,i mean sure the occasional curve does lighten up designs and makes them look better but some are just overdosing it and making it look like some sort of organ,YUCK. (think Sophon ships from Endless space.)

So you probably know the general astronavigational eqivalents of east south north west is coreward rimward spinward and counterspinward this is nice for navigating but to be used to give coordinates is a different story. For how far you are from the center is easy i am say 56m AU from the galactic core but we need a central "meridian" so to say to be able to give a point of location. And this makes me think the 1 meridian on earth is placed intentional to pass trough Greenwich so what will mark the first meridian in the galaxy:The first wise guys that sugjest it get the right to pick?Or it will just be the biggest star in the galaxy or maybe the home star of the biggest empire out there? The problem with these is that they probably wont live as long as the place itself and will constantly move. I say the line between Andromeda or some other galaxy and the milky way be used Btw sorry if it is hard to understand.

As much as i want cool stuff like this i just have to say that us,The not so mindfull apes of the species homo sapiens are not ready for it.Why, well think of how nuclear technology was invented in the coldwar era, there was a massive treath of nuclear war but we where smart enought not to do it,while nuclear tech happened today no one would even think of aiming such a thing(save for a few extreemists).think of how many people today would use it for unpleasant things(i mean really unpleasant),i have hope that that number would drop in the near future. But alas the number will never be zero.

I hate these stupid ads, they dont even advertise your dumb products, its just a digital well with a ''something is in it'' sign over it if you jump in in it leads to an ad for a browsergame, some badly layed out site offering whatever the hell no one wants,a program that no one in a million years would use, maybe a get a free ipad page or just outright gives you a virus. An addblock program is usualy enough to stop these eye sores of human arrogance once and for all,but WHY are they here in the first place.

That game has a realy nice aestetics to it but i havent gotten arount to playing it,has some wacky concepts as well.
-
I regret being born on a planet with underdeveloped bipedal lifeforms that I (and a few other) happen to share the same genome with.(Most of you who are reading this are not the useless biomass that i just described and deserve a free interstelar space ship ).As far as i am concerned the first type, or homosapiens stupidicus can rot on this planet until they either get smacked by an asteroid that they could have avoided or they nuke themselves.
-
Granted but i have no idea what it is so enjoy your paper with k10 deluxe heavy lifter written in maxed out font on it. I wish for something i have no name for.
-
Aha,so it more a shader im searching for, thanks for clearing that out.

For an one that doesent know A-A is a script put in games that detects sharp edges on the ingame models and softens them so they are nicer to look at,thus better graphics. But i was wondering is it posible to make A-A into an effect, like for instance i have a kitty in my game but it looks a little bland so i modify the AA so its edges are now fuzzy. Or i have a game with an artstyle that is like a canvas painting (think Dishonored) and to add some A-A that gives a brush stroke outline to the models. keep in mind that i have almost no experience in coding games exept poking in game files.

wow that is old,the krew tabs even display K.I.A. in the event of failure
-
Asuming they didnt forget to add a magnetic shield to help fend of those pesky space particles.

So everyone is proudly parading the warpdrive/jumphole/whatever as our source of FTL but that partypooper Einstein and the concept of casuality say that you would either be timetraveling or breaking the speed of light so yea. But it seems that everyone seems to overlook the posibility to use this technology as an STL booster of sorts. Like an antimatter fueled spaceship eccelarating to 5%c and then activating a Warp drive as an STL booster, reaching 30%c.When it needs to break it just turns off its booster slows back down to 5% and then uses its propelant to slow down to parking orbit. The problem i see from the get go is it even worth powering this thing?
