I am more curious about giving it the ability of creating its own personality and not remember what the general public responds. There could be a file with parameters like: -does not like to swear. -likes science. -can be a jerk at times. The problem with this is how do we program it so those parameters mean anything. My idea is linking it with an online dictionary (just like Watson) and search the description for keywords. If it finds that the word the user mentioned is linked with science for instance (say neurology). It will say "brb googling neurology in " because it contains the keyword science and thus interests it.(it will also remember any data gathered from the search) Alternatively the machine could just ask the user what it is.If the machine becomes confused with the explanation it will start questioning is it that or is it this,to witch the user responds with a simple yes or no. Over time the machine will learn stuff that interests it and what doesent.Giving it the impression of character depth. I can see this with improving digital companions (like Siri) and even be used with video game technology, giving the player the ability to speak to Characters by typing text and not just to use the severely limited dialog tree. Overall i see this as the next logical step.We could possibly learn a lot from how children develop tastes and preferences on their own.

Well he did it again. this shows how knowledge has different formats and some are easyer to understand. Personally this is why i cant wait for schools to implement something else than those little prints on slices of dead treas. I am sure PBS idea channel addressed this topic sometime but i am too lazy to go search for it.

Granted! you then accidentally kill your grandfather triggering a paradox. The whole multiverse grinds to a hault, forever. I wish i could sometimes dream about cheese!

Space food... looks delicious. Nice painting!

Still i wouldnt want my stuff to smell of burned hydrocarbons. However the one place this will be invaluable is in mini drones like those quadcopters the size of your palm, miniature buggies and maybe even robotic spiders .Search and rescue drones will encounter a giant leap in effectiveness.

O_O a combustion engine that small... Interesting, but yet i see this as a niche component as the thing still spews out the most dreaded CO2.And the heat and noise coming out of this thing are not quite what i would call convenient.

Then by that logic watts/kg would sound funny. (never been very good with measurements, forgive my idiocy) Also i forgot to mention miniature RTGs would be useful if they didnt emit that pesky radiation. Is there fissionable material that emits easy to stop Helium nuclei and next to none of the harder to block stuff?

Who doesn't know the old faithful lithium ion battery,The thing that provides power to your super slick new flashlight that provides 800 lumens +.Or what lets you watch this post on your mobile phone or laptop. The problem is that energy density is not exactly peachy. Well thats depressing. What are our alternatives? Searching for "future energy storage devices" didnt show much except an article for Graphene/water battery that does not explain how it stores its energy. So no cake for that! After some searching i found the lithium/sulfur battery. As you can see its density rivals that of gasoline! But judging from its wikipedia article the device suffers from degradation issues and also seems to be in an experimental phase. Fuelcells dont scale down very well (atleast to my understanding) and I am no expert in capacitors and super capacitors so i wont budge in anything. Any one care to share some information?

Hmm yes i could disclose this.I am a secret agent from another civilization here to check if you are worthy of joining the stellar space agglomeration. And so far I am considering for you to join just because of your awesome ability to make computer simulation programs!(the entire high council absolutely adores KSP)!

From what i read i can see that you manage descriptions quite well and convey the act strongly. But I am not going to say anything other that you have potential.Again its all up to you.

This is an interesting concept! (i too got to a nickel 64)

Nausea from habitation cans spinning too fast?
MC.STEEL replied to MC.STEEL's topic in Science & Spaceflight
You mean that a 5m radius hab is going to create 0.05 of a g while a 100 meter one will make about 1 g under 3 rpm(online calculators for the win).I get that. But thanks anyway. -
I am researching stuff for my hard-ish sci-fi im working on and the fact that a small can should spin faster compared to a wider can to achieve the same force. But it should not spin more than 3 rpm because the crew will start to feel nauseous. And this a bit strange for me.As far as i know motion sickness occurs from your inner ear sensing that you are moving but your eyes sense nothing is moving,or vice versa. Why would it cause nausea?

Another minecraftvania(?) esque game. After that game showed that the premise of block based graphics support procedurally generated world that are able to be changed in any way shape or form.A lot of other games have sprung up to see where else this could be useful. As for this game i see that it has its own merit and its made in such a way as to just look old instead of block based and i give it bonus points for proper orbital mechanics!

Meh i prefer the NTR But joking aside is this a render or is it painted. It looks neat.

The fluid in your eye is also completely sealed off,if i remember correctly. And as Raven. posted before me it is full of collagen strands that tend to clump up and become the stuff you see, but you only see them when they are close enough to cast a shadow on your retina. As you age some of them defect or something(i honestly dont remember) and they become these dark colored floaters that tend to fall down the bottom of your eye.

Do we have working prototypes of gas and liquid NTRs
MC.STEEL replied to MC.STEEL's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Well now i see, they just didnt get finished. And even if the populace changes their irrational view about nuclear the gas core will still be problematic,as far as i read the fuel is IN the remass and some unburnt fuel is bound to escape. This will still frighten some people because thats how humanity rolls i guess. -
I am digging for stuff on the Internet for a hard-ish sci-fi and cant help but notice the only engine that has real life pictures is the humble solid core. The liquid core is only has very few schematics and gas core are only found in schematics and CGI renderings. So what gives, did they cut funding before anyone made working prototypes or is the Internet really gone to hell and the only thing one is able to do with it is look for pictures of cats?

Congratulations on finally finishing it! All i can say is that it is amazing.

They happen when an explosion is close to the ground and the wave ricochets off of the surface and then atmosphere creates convections.Without the atmo the explosion would just be a cone of fire with a perpendicular ring i think. As to this its so bad its actually kinda good.
-
There is also another bother to this do we really need such big stations and who would or can he/they even pay for this? If the station is big enough i see no reason why not make it have a functional ecosystem.

This is the very apex of "I know that i know nothing".

Nice doodles.Unfortunately i cant really say anything more other than how this has been suggested a lot before.

I have been pondering If antimatter is visually different from the regular stuff? Like say you have a chunk of antiFerrum in space and an astronaut decides to grab it thinking its regular metal.Only to have his fingers blown off by the resulting reaction. (For this experiment i assume that there are such chunks of antimatter floating in space). While in atmo the violent reaction with the air is a dead giveaway.

Granted everyone measures % now in 80 units instead of 100 I wish I wish I was A FISH!!!
