UI / input suggestions
r4pt0r replied to fommil's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
-when you cant change back to focusing on your ship in map view use backspace i believe, that will bring you back to the currently controlled craft. -for orienting the camera while trying to dock i suggest chase mode i believe. select different modes with the v(?) key -use [ and ] to change between craft that are nearby and trying to dock ive been not playing for a while waiting for .24, but i think i got at least those points answered. cant help on the others sorry mate. -
i played it a week after it came out. it looks really really promising. im glad i bought it but it will sit idle while their devs use my money to finish their product. still too incomplete for my taste. i saw in another thread that Whack likes dwarf fortress. i cant get any immersion with the graphics in that game, but gnomoria is a simpler, prettier DF if youre interested.

i think once .24 launches people will cool off for a few weeks at least, and the fervor wil build up again towards the end of the next update cycle. this is a pattern. the consumers just want to see real progress on the product they purchased. edit: i do think that myself and more than a few others would like a post from harv, just confirming the intended* features for the next few updates. so we can get an inkling of what might* be coming *they seem to enjoy a more fluid developement style so im not asking for promises, just intentions. if they reneg on a listed feature so what? plans change and thats ok.

Rotation in EVA mode?

So a scientist has been analizing classic compositions, the works of Mozart, Beethoven, and Bach. breaking down patterns and the notes and everything. well one of his aids enters the lab and notices it smells awful "excuse me sir, but what is that terrible smell" the aide says. the scientist turns to his aide and responds "oh im sorry, ive just been de-composing"

So i had this idea come to mind. we know KSP tracks longitude and latitude on all bodies. so with the following changes, we can make use of rovers and such. -Reduce all transmission efficiencies -5% from what they are now. -Make KSP remember the coordinates of where science readings are done -Provided your next reading in the same biome is ~1km away(more or less? im not sure), you can transmit it again for an extra 15%(the new cap being 10% higher overall if you are willing to work for it) so heres an example -thermometer reading @ munar highlands (123x, 123y) -transmits for 45% science (say 45 points out of 100) -I rover 1km from 123x,123y, but still in munar highlands -I repeat expirement, but this time get 15% more science (15 more points, new transmit cap is 60 points) With budgets I think rovers should see an expanded value, because their mission can extend further than the landing site at no extra cost. Plus my idea promotes the use of rovers, without the tedium of roving for an hour to hit a new biome. Players could also budget fuel on their landing probes to do the same using short range hops. Would this be fun and possible to implement?

>7 minute delay whoa -
i havent actually played since march around when they prematurely announced expirementals, for the same reason as you. but the steam winter sale was kind to me and ive passed the time well.
-
ah very well then. im still hoping though. little suprise or something. shame to only have the klaw in the "Actuators" node. should be more parts in there, otherwise call it the "klaw" node
-
Lucy, you got some 'splainin' to do! just saw this company logo is one of the ones accepted. can i infer from this there is a company that will be making moving parts, ie hinges and such? are robotics finally coming to stock?
-
to be fair, most suggestions are rubbish
-
i hope mining never makes it into stock.
-
you must be new here. budgets/costs will be here with .24, and thats releasing within a week or so* recovery for economic benefit is theoretically also coming with that. also contracts are coming so that might cover your ""additional tasks" point hardcore modes have been discussed ad naseum and most of your ideas are on the what not to suggest list. also there is a current thread running about no saving on page 2 of suggestions and development. your idea for a rival space program has been denied, there will be no sabotages or random failures in stock. *maybe edit:hope i dont come off as too rough.

thats still a bit macabre. i dont think that should be in stock. as a mod, sure have at it. -
Explosive Decompression

"How dare you open a space man's helmet on an uncharted planet? My eyeballs could have been sucked from their sockets!" -Buzz Lightyear but seriously, if my kerbal got boiled/frozen/sucked out of his helmet/liquefied/killed every time i tripped while on eva i might consider uninstalling. ragdolling, rolling down a hill for 200 meters, and standing up to dust off seems so "kerbal" to me. its funny how it is now and i like it. -
so op just wants a 2 tone map? edit: oh he got it on page 2. very well then.

Advanced Grabbing Unit BUG!?!??! HELP!
r4pt0r replied to Saggachi's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
ships have trouble connecting to themselves. its a unity thing i believe. -
yeah if its on the forums, then most people here are reasonably adept at playing the game. so it will always be lopsided.
-
i think big parts would be more easily tracked.
