gilly is a bit too far, but I'd say the best bet would be minmus's "greater flats", would be the best, its very flat, has low gravity (but not gilly low) and has a smaller radius. Biggest thing of all with minmus is that its not that far from Kerbin.. btw : is this a forum wide project or personal ?

So far no we haven't heard it discussed in depth.. But as far as I can make out of it based on what we do have, is that it is still planned resource mining, but the original idea, although in a playable state was much too boring so it was shelved.. it may serve as the base for a later update but it simply didn't do the cut. so they decided to do career mode and busy themselves with that instead of a much more grindy thing... let's put how grindy kethane is... you send a single satellite into polar orbit around a planet, you wait, wait, wait, and wait some more, wait, wait, wait now finally you have done enough to send your FIRST lander to gather it, then you bring a refinery, you gather (wait, wait, wait) and you convert to rocket fuel (wait, wait, wait)..... so unless you simply leave KSP on and let the scanner do stuff then you won't really progress will you... all this waiting is probably why resource mining was shelved... -

You haven't searched for easter eggs very hard have you ? nasa related easter eggs spoiler : there's a neil armstrong (apollo lander too) memorial on the mun at nearly the same co-ordinates as the real thing. on duna you can see the top of the curiosity rover sunken in the sand....

I just have to say one thing to this thread : let it die period. Unless the OP has something new to say you should drop the topic. All that's happening now is the 0.22 old fight over should we be doing science on Kerbin's surface.. And those fights are always back and forth ones that never end.. I do have a standing in this matter but really is it really worth keeping this thread in particular alive ?

ok, major redesign of my launcher is complete, next week i'l make a video on it... to give you an idea of how powerful it is, it has enough dV to simply burn straight up full throttle to get a straight on impact course with the mun, slow down for a landing and go back to kerbin (orbit this time instead)... when will we begin ? edit : only meant to say I was ready.... Also on a side note, since when has anybody gotten a perfect equatoral encounter with duna ?, we need to have something of interest at our landing site don't we ?

For the duna base.... We should set it at the Kerbal face or some other big anomolie like the southern pyramid... not the curiosity rover though as you can only see it on high quality terrain (I can't see it)... Unless there's a really good reason not to...

I think clawing it would be too "taunting" the magic boulder.... wonder if we did dock with it, would we get some exotic science for it I wonder ? would it be a jackpot ? I think the devs have taunted it long enough by not letting other people see it, like me, i'm left watching scott manley show me it in a video..... because it disappeared ~0.19 and I joined 2 versions later, 0.21..

I've made an entire save preparing for the duna base, mainly to test concepts (the only one so far killed 80% of a VERY large crew) but my launcher seems to be fine, right concept, works but needs a major redesign.... will we make a completely new save or will we be able to attach solid fuel to the minmus station and tow it to duna ? other activities : practiced docking, seems easier than the last time I tried... and I even forgot rcs (2 flt-800s stacked and and the only way to dock was, well... easier than when I do have rcs...).. Hope this update makes me "active"

what part is fried, isn't there ANYTHING you could find on saving it, anything ? WE NEED YOU AS AN ACHIEVEMENT WHACKJOB, WE NEED YOU !!! come-on you know KSP is limited to 32bit right now (~3.5gb), even my ~$350 + tax laptop has that, its the only thing that limits you, you need a new machine !!! Or is this just an early april fools joke ?

what I'm suggesting is for an option to increase the resolution of the numbers/text on dials in iva... well, I would like to use the radar altimeter, but currently I either have to switch all textures to a high resolution which for me is a BIG no-no.. having this setting for only iva objects which have text or numbers on them would be extremely useful, I don't care about how detailed the other objects are, I want those numbers !!! Or alternatively (or even better both) I think it would be equally useful to be able to set the 3rd person view altimeter on radar altitude so I know how far i actually am from the ground... (when you don't have shadows its hard to estimate and without legible numbers in iva you can't use).... I know the latter has been suggested who knows how many times but I think some more options in the settings would be great !

I suspect, that anything to do with asteroids (comets, meteors, belt etc.) will be completely implemented by ~0.26 as nasa pack is coming as 0.23.10, which simply adds asteroids. and all of these are simply variations of asteroids based on what their behavior is, comets = highly ecentric orbit which makes sun-dives then goes back out to the edge of the system.. meteors/meteorites = comes into the atmosphere, asteroids = any of these. just a thought, I do think that at a distance meteors should just be ground scatter but up-close maybe make them like an asteroid.

depends on which copy of KSP, I have 2 which are modded, 1 stock... i'l go with my most populated modded one : FAR, infernal robotics, Kethane (which I have never found a use for), an extension to kethane which I forget the name of(no use), firespitter, airships, KAS (no use yet).

for me function is a first, asthetics are second, aka, double or triple layer asparagus, station in a single launch-ish thing..

a nice effect but I foresee numerous complaints.... "why can't I touch the meteor, I just go through it" "I can't land my meteor at KSC, help plz" "suggestion, make it so we can interact with meteors" "bug report, asteroids can't be docked with the claw..." I could go on all day, but what I do suspect is for artificial meteors to be well, stoc, with all the people wondering how big a rocket to land it at KSC... Or we just see asteroids on impact courses with Kerbin.. What I'd like to see is comets which have a high chance of spawning.... gilly ish comets..

*warning* *warning* flame-fest war immenant.... just to put it this way here's how I ended up learning KSP 18.4 demo, 1 : started by building things that fell apart 2 : first thing that got to space, went to 100km + actually but I didn't know how to orbit back then... 3 : first orbit and Kerbal stranded in space 4 : first Kerbal stranded in inter-planetary space then in extremely late v0.21 I got the game... 1 : over-whelmed by the amount of parts and sizes, have no clue what I should do... 1.5 : I learned how to do asparagus staging 2 : less than a month later, career comes out... 3 : through career I learned most of what I know 4 : after reaching jool in career, and a crash into tylo for SCIENCE I basically quit career for good, and now I only play sandbox... really what I find with career mode is that when you're a complete noob, it helps... but after that, the beginning is too constricting to make you want to use it again, the same thing that makes career good (the part limitation) is also its downfall if your a more veteran player... so, my solution for the OP is : 1, get a bunch of progress in-career, 2, wait for contracts, 3, now with not much part constriction try contracts and see if you like that.. otherwise the others have already suggested stick to sandbox...
