SSTOs! Post your pictures here~
quasarrgames replied to KissSh0t's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Built upon my previous designs to create the Crazy Maverick mk3, a three-kerbal SSTO that gets to orbit with the Wheesley engine: Haven't seen (m)any sstos that use the wheesley, so i'm proud to have made this. -

Very nice! Good luck with tylo! ...Also, that's a lot of monopropellant you have there. you'd probably save a few tons by replacing your RCS with reaction wheels, if you wanted. ALSO, mostly out of sheer luck, i've created an incredibly low tech SSTO, the Crazy Maverick: I don't even know how it works so well, but it does. Only requires aerodynamics and advanced rocketry to get (technically not even advanced rocketry, since i got the terrier as part of a contract). Might even be able to give it a drone core and make it carry a couple tourists. -
Dunat even try. I guarantee you that nobody else will even have the nerv to understand it. And those who do will probably give you HECS for it. In fact, i got a cupola puns i could use, but i'm not going to. Why anyone would even think of posting puns here eeloods me.

Naval Battle League 2016-2018
quasarrgames replied to Spartwo's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Thank you, and yes i agree that it would be a lot better to have a 0.625m SRB. Also, In the process of creating a ground assault weapon, i realised that i have officially lost my sanity. I built this weapon: I guess it's kind of hard to see in detail. It's a mass accelerator tank with a giant clip of Ibeams. Basically a Bren LMG scaled up so it fires 130kg projectiles. It's stupid and heinous but it works and i love it! Surprisingly, It's actually a pretty deadly artillery weapon. Fires 20 i-beams into an approximately 20m x 20m area roughly 1150m away, so it has a decent chance of hitting and disabling an enemy tank with a rain of fire and metal. -

Sorry for the looong absence. I present to you the Avro Shackleton mk2! Now with a longer fuselage, better tailfins, revised engines (with double propellers and jet engines!), and nose/tail spotter cockpits that kerbals can sit inside Significantly heavier than the real one, but it has about the same top speed, due to a massive amount of thrust. Pretty fun to fly. -
Naval Battle League 2016-2018
quasarrgames replied to Spartwo's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Right you are. I only used 42 units of fuel in each RT5, so each missile weighs a little over a ton. The weapon is really just a small structural beam with a huge amount of thrust behind it to get it up to speed. It has a tendency to just barely phase through most armour and hit the structural beam holding it in place. Oh, and i'm almost finished the Mk2 variant of the Neeson. I like the way it turned out! -

Naval Battle League 2016-2018
quasarrgames replied to Spartwo's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I'm almost ready. Just have to touch up my old fleet. I do hope we can continue our honorly interplanetary conflicts in Naval Battle Club 2017. I've been doing some "research"... I've created a 4-part missile that can actually destroy the near-indestructible NX-16, sometimes in only one shot: Then i mounted 6 of them on a reboot of my oldest design, the Neeson Phoenix "battleship in a box" escort subcapital. I really don't like the partcount of conventional armor (84 parts for this little thing! Can you believe that?) but it should be able to withstand light-medium missiles without much trouble. I'm also in the process of creating another version that uses mk2 cargo bays as armor, which offer about the same armor protection on account of their thin walls, but should reduce the part count significantly. -

I love all the wonderful designs there are here nowadays! Great job guys! I have one to contribute too: Still needs a bit more polish, as it has very low control authority on takeoff, but it also has a 48% payload fraction. Will release less mysterious pictures when it's ready for release. -
Wow, really? Nobody took a spot for the next four days? In that case, @Scientia1423, if i could have the 19/20th slot, that would be awesome Also, how are Duna and Kerbin aligned right now? If they're not too far apart, i got a 16,000m/s delta v rocket that could probably get a payload there in 30 or so days.

It's a great idea, but a bit tedious to achieve. I tried a stock electrical propeller craft on eve before: The problem is, eve's thick atmosphere and high gravity mean that propellers have a lot of drag and friction, and don't turn as well. This plane here flew at up to 60m/s on kerbin. On eve? 20m/s. And that's at sea level. By about 15km, it could barely keep itself in the air. And this was with no payload, too. It would take a massive plane to get even the lightest eve semi-landers to orbit. And it would be a slow ascent, too. So, is it possible? Yes. Is it feasible? with a good propeller, yes. Would it be challenging? yes.

There's an easier way that you can do this, in stock. All you need to do is edit the config file. It's simpler than it looks. Just save an engine, in my case a Nerv, as a subassembly. Then go to saves>your save>subassemblies and open it up. You'll see something like this: PART { part = nuclearEngine_4293974652 partName = Part pos = 2.9561553,8.72954178,4.17365026 attPos = 0,0,0 attPos0 = 2.9561553,8.72954178,4.17365026 rot = 0.707106829,0,0,0.707106829 attRot = 0,0,0,1 attRot0 = 0.707106769,0,0,0.707106769 mir = 1,1,1 symMethod = Mirror autostrutMode = Off rigidAttachment = False istg = 1 resPri = 0 dstg = 0 sidx = 0 sqor = 0 sepI = -1 attm = 0 modCost = 0 modMass = 0 modSize = 0,0,0 EVENTS { } ACTIONS { } PARTDATA { } MODULE { name = ModuleEngines isEnabled = True staged = False flameout = False EngineIgnited = False engineShutdown = False currentThrottle = 0 thrustPercentage = 100 manuallyOverridden = False stagingEnabled = True EVENTS { } ACTIONS { You see how thrustPercentage is at 100%? You can bump that up to 500 or 100000%. Same with almost everything else. Increase the efficiency of fuel tanks by cramming more fuel in them. Make solar panels and ISRU work better by increasing their output. I was able to make an SSTO with nothing but a few fuel tanks and a Nerv (yeah, the i-work-very-very-badly-in-atmo Nerv) that had over 3500m/s of delta v in orbit with this technique

Hello again! Threw this together in an hour: It can take off vertically... ...then fold its wings down and fly horizontally. And it does this without finnicky gear hinges, or any part detaching at all. This means you could timewarp it for an infinite amount of time and nothing would fly off the ship. It works quite simply actually. The engines are attached to the fuselage via very flexible parts (in this case, the radial decouplers). With lots of SAS units attached, the engines can bend their structural connections with a reasonable degree of freedom. They can then secure themselves to the main body with autostrut. Needless to say, it's not always that simple. Any engine rotation is very wobbly, so transitioning from vertical to horizontal can be a bit...problematic... ...But when it works, it works well. This design is also an SSTO, which can get to orbit with about 450m/s of delta v left: Hope you liked it

Just messing around with the alt-f12 cheats menu when i found this: It's not intuitive at all. I don't know what most of those orbit parameters mean, and i think eccentricity is broken. However, it seems to have most of the features of Hyperedit. You can set your ship to orbit around another planet or rendezvous with other ships with it. I'm not sure if it can directly change your velocity or land your ship at certain coordinates or edit the orbits of planets themselves, but in its most barebones form, it looks a lot like hyperedit. I guess a lot of you have found this already, but if not, just thought i'd leave it here. P.S. You have to make sure you account for the planet's radius when you set height of your orbit, otherwise bad things happen.

I may have a ship that wins purely in terms of size: Can't carry a lot of cargo or kerbals, but it's 100m long, 1500 tons, and it's an interplanetary SSTO.

Hello again! My turn is done. If you wanted to see: Mission 1 Cygnus: Mission 2 Unity Ring: Mission 3 Minmus Miner: By the way, can't wait to see how this Duna landing will go. By the looks of all the various landers in orbit, it's gonna be Huge.

Athena ... a ridiculously huge stock space station.
quasarrgames replied to Azimech's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Dang. Holy Hannah. Well isn't this a special little snowflake. Just in time for the holiday season. Good show! Also, i kinda REALLY wanna blow it up now. this plus a battleship is just on the limit of what my computer can handle. So, if it wouldn't be too much trouble to post a craft file, that would be amazing. -
Mostly-Unknown Replicas
quasarrgames replied to quasarrgames's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Hello! Back again with something new: The Avro Shackleton It was a naval reconnaissance/bomber craft for the Royal Air Force up until the 90s. I think nobody likes it because of its "ugly" nose spotter cockpit, but it looks unique so i like it. -
Hello! I decided to make a small collection of replicas of lesser-known air and space craft. Normally i find replicas a little boring, but these replicas should be of planes and rockets that you may not have seen before, so that should make it more interesting. Hope you enjoy. 1- Shavit Rocket and Ofeq Satellite: This was the first satellite launched to orbit by Israel's Space Agency, making Israel the eighth country to send something to space. The three-stage solidfuel rocket that launched it was developed with very little money or foreign knowhow as well. More (should) be coming soon

Hello! So, i've been invited to participate in a Model Untied Nation conference at a local university. To my good fortune, i shall be representing Israel in the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs. The topics are the Environment and Space Activity, the Militarisation of Space and International Law, and Space Commercialisation. I am currently doing research into Israel's role in this committee. However, i also realised that there's a whole world of space enthusiasts here. So, if anyone knows anything about Israel's space program, or any of the policies it has implemented regarding space travel, it would be a big help to me if you could post here. So far, i know that Israel has sent 12 satellites into space, has signed and ratified the Outer Space Treaty but not the Moon Treaty, and that an Israeli-designed communications satellite was destroyed in the recent Falcon 9 Explosion. As well, although i have been to many Model UN conferences in the past, i have never really excelled in them. So if anyone has been to any past Model UN conferences, and has any good experience with them, any advice on how to make deals quickly and win people over would also be really appreciated. I understand that this is a bit... political, but i'm hoping you guys can be sensible and honourable enough not to turn this into a flame war. That is all. Have a good day
