Cupcake's Dropship Dealership...
VR_Dev replied to Cupcake...'s topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Hey man. Do you ever get kracken attacks from the cockpit being clipped inside the mk2 adapter? Especially on those long trips you take? -
Mobile Gundam Suits (MRK V kOS Footage)
VR_Dev replied to VR_Dev's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Tweakscale everyone, it's awesome. I've completely eliminated all the custom parts on this thing. Obviously the feet are custom, but they are necessary for ground traction. I'll release a version with stock feet too. The feet are all done, and they are coded as landing gear for traction. I also gave them robotics, so the ankles work now. I'm playing with tuning the hips, knees, and ankles to try and make the walking easier. It's not great yet, but I have high hopes for how well it will work one day. Also a little bit of flying in the video I made the beam saber cooler now too. There's two more new gif's in the op. This thing really is done. Just gotta type up a nice op, and get the download ready -
Multiple Animations on part
VR_Dev replied to raidernick's topic in KSP1 Modelling and Texturing Discussion
I just kind of skimmed over the thread but I just wanted to suggest the easiest thing. Are sure you saved it at frame 0 in blender or whatever you made it in? Two separate animations can be done successfully -

Matrix Style Walking Mech & Aliens Style Loader Mech

This is awesome. I fully support the current trend of trying to shrink mechs. We shouldn't rest until there is a Sigourney Weaver "Aliens" Mech -
Mobile Gundam Suits (MRK V kOS Footage)

Useless but awesome looking. I really really need a new computer though. This gif looks like garbage and just tonight I had to splice my power cord back together to get my macbook back on. The dude at the hardware store said it couldn't be done, but electrical tape solves all. I'm just typing up a new OP, then this guy will be up for download. Falling with style. As high as I could jump -
A shorter, more pointed stock nosecone. That's all that I want. Everyone's crafts will look better

This would be pretty awesome. Having someone ride shotgun to guide the missiles. That would be the only reason to have two cockpits. As of right now there is no advantage to having a second cockpit.
-
Yeah that's cool. So he knows how to program it too. I've long wondered about the age of nothing but completely custom ships in this game. I'm about 80% done loading fully customized mechs into the game as well. But in a sense I think it ruins part of the fun. Sure it looks cool but I enjoy everyone having the exact same puzzle pieces to try and compete with. It'll be interesting as more people either come out of the woodwork like your friend, knowing how to design parts, or as people learn(like I did) how to use blender and Unity.
-
dude. It is your destiny to build the walking drone ships from the phantom menace. Every day I think to myself what cool things should I replicate. I can't believe I didn't think of this walking ship before seeing your craft. Pop two legs off yours, then make it transform. I would lose my mind
-
Does it fly or operate in any way? Or is it just a part that can be attached to things?
-
That's awesome thanks for that clarification. That will be huge to have some references while I try to learn modeling. Also there are soo many stock parts I want to have cargo bays. Glad you got it working. I show the intake example in the op but I applied this whole practice to my zoid, and it really made it look amazing.

VTOL - Jedi Starfighter replica-ish
VR_Dev replied to JTMilne's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Whaaat. I didn't know that -
the robot thread (post robots here)
VR_Dev replied to soulreaver1981's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
This thing is seriously well done dude. I thought for a nono-second about making a mech suite as close to iron man as possible, but I figured it was impossible. This blows my mind -
VTOL - Jedi Starfighter replica-ish

I dig it man. Needs some kerbpaint Small but awesome mod, really no need not to have it. And it will make this thing even cooler. I'd love a download -
MRK II : vII[Available]{NEW 8/9} My fastest craft, this MRK II is built for speed as well as maneuverability. Featuring a raised, tilted cockpit and a flat fuselage this craft is only slightly longer than the MRK I. She also features a wider wingspan to help control the added 10m/s^2 of acceleration. Like all my crafts it operates best at low-to-mid altitudes. The "super MRK II" is high altitude, and already done. Expect a release shortly. Once again performance was sacrificed for looks. However the two NCS adapters attached to the cockpit could easily be replaced with FL-A10 Adapters for a large performance boost. Also I think the RCS tanks on the MRK III look better but it made more sense to have the lighter liquid fuel tanks as part of the engine. Download MRK II : vII

Part count isn't really an issue. All of my crafts are below 100 parts which I think is pretty standard. The real problem I'm having is too much weight because of the NCS Adapter. Also last I heard the welding mod didn't work on .24. And I'm glad you like the turbokat, I think that thing is still pretty cool. I just went back to it trying to build a version using the techniques I learned building these stock fighters. I got a pretty good one started, I'll post a picture of it soon.

I keep coming back to one question, does the flat fuselage or the angled one look cooler? I just can't decide Flat (images removed)
-
I'm really glad someone made a thread to document all the outstanding walking/mech progress this game has made. Hopefully it only gets better. My gundam has evolved a lot since I made this video, but I still think it's pretty cool. And hopefully the finished product will be even better. thread Also my new zoid walks. This was my first and only attempt at walking, with a little practice it wouldn't be so wonky. thread No FAR

aerial capture (getting a small plane inside another plane while flying)
VR_Dev replied to m1sz's topic in KSP Fan Works
Dude this was awesome. The fold up wings are amazing. What engine did you use, it looked like it had an afterburner. Was something nested in that basic engine? -
MRK I 3.0[Available]{NEW 8/5} The smallest craft in my market, this the culmination of my previous MRK I builds. Features a flat fuselage with a raised, tilted cockpit. I shed all the excess weight possible to make up for the NCS Adapter. (Why? Why squad is that part so heavy? It's 3 times as heavy as the Structural fuselage.) Better looking and still extremely high performance, this is the new official MRK I. If you can squeeze any more performance out of this thing (or any of my crafts), show it to me and I'll update and credit you in the thread. album Part Count: 61 Download MRK I 3.0 If you are interested here are the two previous versions.
