[0.23.5] Realism Overhaul: ROv5.2 + Modlist for RSS 6/30/14
RedAV8R replied to NathanKell's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
What node sizes are holding the parts together. Otherwise a craft file, and what other mods you are using to build it. If one of us can reproduce the problem, we can likely fix it. -
Um...no:) Best way is to build the LEM separately, starting with the ascent module, save it as a sub-assembly. There will be one node available and you can attach it to the node for the LEM decoupler. There is a small connect node in the middle of the Ascent Module that corresponds with the node on the SLA. I'd seen a node placed right below the engine of the SM, but when the docking port was attached to that node...selecting it as a target is impossible when you go to dock with it. I suppose I could have a node to decouple the engine, but then that node gets really close to nodes used to attach the SLA/decoupler/Instrument Unit...Since all the parts of the LEM are hidden to FAR with the fairing, nodes can be placed darn near anywhere to connect items, I haven't had any stability issues either, visual or otherwise.

For what it's worth, with some minor work, using the existing models, a simple *.cfg could be made that'll give you what you want.

For the pack...you need to install AerojetKerbodyne, SDHI, and the Taurus HCV. Every link to these 3 packs is on the OP. To build the Orion SLS upper stages...Start with the Taurus pod, put one of the two docking ports on top. The IACBM is scaled to the real CBM size BTW, we should figure out a scale for the other docking port. Place the SDHI Boost Cover on top, followed by the LES from the AerojetKerbodyne pack. Now place the heat shield from the Aerojet Kerbodyne pack as it's built to match the Taurus (now Orion) pod. Now, place the SDHI Service Module, the whole thing, not just the avionics ring, which is scaled to match the Squad Mk1-2 pod as is the SDHI heat shield. Now place the AJ-10-190 based Orion engine, with the R4D-11 thrusters in a 8x ring around it. Outfit the service module with RCS pods and solar panels. Fit the AK (AerojetKerbodyne) decoupler, followed by the AK service module fairing. Now the The big LH2 tank, the adapter, the smaller LOX tank, and finally the RL-10 engine. Use either the 200" or 300" interstage to match the rest of your launcher. Hope this helps.

You know...you asked about the F100 vs the F404...now in this post you are talking about the F101???...I'm sure one has to be a typo, but every single one of them is an engine...P&W made the F100, and GE made the F404 and the F101. My suggestion is especially when one number can mean an entirely different thing to proof read your post extra careful.

[0.23.5] Realism Overhaul: ROv5.2 + Modlist for RSS 6/30/14
RedAV8R replied to NathanKell's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
There is currently a minor incompatibility with RftS right now with the current version of my packs. It really is a minor issue, but be warned it is there. I believe it is just with the Gemini Lander Engine, so no real big loss. Once Nathan fixes it I'll remove the little disclaimer. -

That is actually part of RealFuels and would require code changes to the plugin. I for one am not in favor of it anyway. They are there for a reason, sometimes when recreating a flight, you don't need or want the most efficient, most powerful engine there is. -
Just realized I didn't get the nodes in and size the small secondary thruster placed x4 around the main AJ-10-190 dirivitive. In all fairness this Orion/AerojetKerbodyne/SDHI is very young when it comes to completion, it will be improved as time goes on. Sizes should be right for the most part, but fuel and other things are still being worked on.

Alright...The AerojetKerbodyne - SDHI -TaurusHCV update is out. ZIP at the OP...The AerojetKerbodyne project basically mimics the 200" (5m) Delta Cryogenic Second Stage. Best use will be using the larger tank for LH2 and the small tank for LOX. Since AerojetKerbodyne mod is made to work with SDHI, and the Taurus HCV, I've updated both to approximate their use based on the Orion Spacecraft set to debut with the SLS. IMPORTANT!!! PLEASE DELETE THE SDHI.cfg found in the RealismOverhaul folder. As always, things will be improved, so any comments/suggestions/facts, please help me out.

Have no fear...it's actually already done:), along with Aerojet Kerbodyne, actually just doing some tweaking right now, I should have a good release out tomorrow. With the request for Aerojet Kerbodyne...only seemed right to make the SDHI fit it for Orion...Taurus is on the list as well to complete the package, I haven't touched it yet though...probably start on it tomorrow after I put up Aerojet Kerbodyne and SDHI. The big issue at this time for Aerojet Kerbodyne is an adapter for the 200' (not 5m BTW) to the 330' interstage as the current adapter only goes to 300' with the current scaling...which doesn't look too bad scaling the 3.75 KSP NASA tanks to the same diameter and turning the 4 engine into SSME specs...it's not FASA quality but it works...what do you guys/gals think?
-
Per directions on the OP...: Try a CLEAN version of KSP and FASA...Likely this is a problem somewhere else it's not FASAs fault.
-
Don't bother with .23 anymore, it's not supported, .23.5 is the latest and greatest and the changes made make everything work better. The best way to resolve this...get a fresh copy of KSP, folder anywhere, you can have multiple copies, now, start from scratch...install KSP, RO, RSS, KJR, FAR, and all other required mods. Then get the latest FASA beta (4.60 at this time). Then for giggles delete all the files in the RedAV8R folder of RO, download the latest files here on the OP, and put them in the RedAV8R folder of RO. See what happens.

Log would be best, just so you know...likely, you've got either something out of date, or some incompatibility, I have not experienced what you've got at all, get a dropbox account or something for your log and post the link and we'll tell you what you've got wrong. -

Control Pod Things...is that the technical term??? I have an idea what you are talking about, but until you figure it out and let me know, I won't help you, not with a tone like that. Make sure you grab the latest versions on my thread, the latest version of RO only has the build available when it was released, things have been worked on, tweaked, whatever since then. Also make sure you have everything else updated as well, FASA, RO, RSS, MJ, etc... The .craft files will come in due time. -

I can't duplicate the parachute bug...I'm guessing you have another file somewhere that is installing another parachute into the gemini parachute...like maybe the RealChute config. Remove that RealChute file, don't need it. The Mercury Pitch/Yaw thruster does show up for my install, so make sure you haven't changed any file/folder names for the model as that is what is used. Good catch on the Big-G service module. I flipped the model 180 so that it was right side up instead of upside down, need to compensate for that flip, I didn't. -
Alright! Preliminary DennyTX (OLDD) Saturn V and Apollo set is up now. FASA is now using Frizzank's latest beta 4.6. Make sure one grabs the latest RSS_Resources as well. With the advent of ModuleRCSFX I have taken the liberty of permanently attaching the RCS pods in their correct spots for the Apollo Command Module, Service Module, and Lunar Module, less part count, easier to build, and like the Service Module, it is in it's correct spot. I've definitely got some CoM figures to work on to bring everything to work best it can, but its coming along nicely. Took the FASA Saturn-V with CSM/LM for a trip, seems to work pretty well. As always see something you want fixed, or bug, let me know.

I will take a look at this as this is part of the FASA RO files... -
Isn't your fault, it's a member who acts like a 3YO and refuses to listen to the word no.
-
Because Nathan simply includes the latest files at the time...quite frequently he doesn't have the actual latest stuff...I would delete everything in the RedAV8R folder of RO and unzip both my RSS_Resources.zip and FASA.zip available on the OP and see what happens...IF everything is the same, same DeltaV, same burn time, etc...then the issue isn't with my stuff...Make sure you have the latest of everything else, mainly FAR, RSS, and DRE. I've got just over 9800 of Dv with my Gemini GLV...got into orbit just fine. What kind of launch profile are you using?
-
Frizzank, sometimes kids just don't understand. Thank you for everything you do, keep it up!
