Space Shuttle Pack for ksp 1.0.4 dev thread

Yea, Mike you should make that launch pad a "static" as they are called in Kerbal Konstructs. It would be very easy to place anywhere at the KSC. I've made a couple Mercury and Gemini statics and added them to my KSC. I also got a few amazing looking statics from ChrisPbacon. I would love a shuttle launch pad to add to my collection of KK statics.

Yes it is pretty cool isnt it. This mod is certianly getting bigger. Or has done over the past few weeks anyway.

I will look into making it static. Have not done that before.

Also texturing it will be a big undertaking. I want to release 1.7 first tho...

Totally understandable. I would suggest you just do a quick read-through on the Kerbal Konstructs forum page. It's not too complicated. Of course focus on 1.7 first, but whenever you feel like doing more with the launch pad, the KK forum page will help you. Really appreciate everything you've done the last few weeks! It's incredible.

Where did you get this, from DECQ? I doubt you had time to model it. It is really big and detailed.

No I didn't get it from DECQ. Although he did give me the parts and the textures that was meant to be for the origional css.

How is the new model coming along? I will get the landing gear to you when I can. Will be happy to help

Now I have a little time, and I totally give it to Buran. But I will have more time, I will try to alter the texture (greater resolution), and some did on the Space Shuttle (Light in the fuselage, hatch animation, etc.). This is the only example, recently I did.

P.S. This is a working version, unfinished.

just a few updates:

adjusted engine gimbals as follows.

the SSME gimball speed set to 40 each and the OMS' to 100 as requested (better control)

cockpit now has actual glass (thanks DECQ)

finalized darker tile textures

realistic part strength

much better booster start and running sounds

advanced srb thrust profiles as they should be

corrected srb textures

fixed decoupler ring + textures

adjusted booster COM to prevent spinout on release

Oh sweet mother of god that launchpad 0.0

I officially charge you with creating an Apollo era launchpad as your next big project. Holy sweet mother that is some awesome stuff.

And can't wait for the update. Eager to test it out with the new changes.

Mike, you forgot to credit maccollo in the OP for the Spice Launch System boosters. I hope that you got permission.

you raise a good point. his documentation does however come with the mod.

I will add this to the first page also

I don't exactly understand how a lot of plugin stuff works, but could you make the pad a KerbalKonstructs launch site? Also, does the pad part generate fuel, electricity, and/or have launch clamp functionality?

If you make it a KK item, it wont provide resources. If you use it like a normal launch clamp it can be config'd

Aren't they working on making KK structures able to feed resources? But, I'd be willing to give up the resource generation for KK launch site functionality.

Could you make a quick RealChute config for the tail chute? I have no idea how to make one myself.

I'm afraid I've had to temporarily remove the download links as there are few problems. According to the Add-on Posting Rules, you must provide a license for every mod as well as source for every plugin you distribute. As always, you must also abide by the license for anything you redistribute.

Specifically, you need to provide:

  • Proof of permission to redistribute Engine Thrust Controller and FASA (both appear to be All Rights Reserved)
  • Source for Engine Thrust Controller
  • Links to the source or forum thread for every other plugin
  • Licenses for every redistributed mod in two places:
    • In the OP
    • In the download zip

Aha hmm.

Well I am still thinking if I should continue or not.

You did so much work with Decq and Jeast that I think there is no need for new one

Right now I am trying to get and create textures which will be really good resolution.

For example new engines with testing texture:

Jozvin, you can not abandon your incredible work. That would be, stupid...

Though you have to say that Mike-NZ is basically doing everything Jozvin planned for the new version, or, to put it in another way, Jozvin only made a new model because there were important errors in the old model, and now Mike-NZ is working on exactly those things and more. So his question if he shall continue is absolutely right.

Guys, please actually talk with each other, you really should get clear who is working on what aspect. Mike seems to work on everything, but he ignores the fact that Jozvin is working on a heavily optimised version.

I dont really see why it matters how many people make a space shuttle. If you have fun doing it then go for it, everyone has their unique styles there is more than one proton, more than one soyuz and so many apollo style capsules i have lost count. Everyone has their own ideas and own ways of doing things. Some people go for direct simulation/realism and some go for more stock-like or easy to use. If you want some new ideas maybe go for some proof of concept addons to your version. The shuttle program was canceled but they had a lot of plans for the future if the program continued. You could even move into fantasy or sci-fi such as the X-71 from amageddon http://orig06.deviantart.net/5557/f/2014/143/b/8/x_71_military_shuttle_ortho_by_unusualsuspex-d7760ju.jpg or the new X-37B http://www.designation-systems.net/dusrm/app4/x-37b.jpg its entirely up to your imagination and what is FUN for you to do. Im sure if it is good looking and works someone out there will enjoy it and that all that matters.

he is not abandoning it. you can see his new work.

as for the similar parts, you can see I am just putting in what DECQ wanted to put in for HIS model.

(read the posts)

I have put more work into scripting and other aspects.

anyway I have to work on licensing now...

I'm told that the same thing can be done with the old model ... So it is with textures, to make better texture is not difficult. But I think it is not necessary to abandon the new shuttle for the reason that they will be engaged Dragon01.

Honestly I will believe that when I see it. I know dragon has his qualms with these forums but little to no work has been done by dragon in months. I am fully aware he is not obligated to. Don't misconstrue my tone with arrogance or entitlement. It's just this project has taken so long to revive because of dragon. Because of delays, because of dragons relationship with the moderators and the ksp community. I guess what I am saying is that you shouldn't abandon your projects because they are too beautiful hiwever there are better modders and coders in the community and if you are waiting for dragon it's probably not gonna happen. Just FYI
