They did.

They never forbid you to deploy, but if you deploy too heavy... boom goes the launchpad.

For example, I can't deploymy monoprop exploit rig to the launchpad. Runway survives it though.

Dare I say that there's a mod with even bigger engines that you could then cluster? 10m engines sound good? I can't remember the thrust per engine but I think it's somewhere around 70, 000. The mod is Behemoth Aerospace Engines. Even the name sounds good!

And I got your PM with the heads up, and I am now aware. When I de-office, I'll grab it and cluster it. So +/- 24 hours, you'll see an orion cluster. Whackjob style.

Remember you need normal rockets to get it off ground or it blow up you space center, its an nuke after all.

Why are my eyes wet!? Oh, never mind, they're melting.

I briefly talked to Nyrath, the original Orion mod maker, and he mentioned that during his Orion testing, he noticed an airplane parked 300 m from the launchpad got thrown into the sky and over the horizon.

For this rocket, I'd expect the entire KSC to fly over the horizon.

Yes, that's clearly madness. The proper solution is to deploy drogue chutes on ascent to keep the beast from running wild ;)

Ok, this one worked. I'd forgotten... the more speed you can maintain, the less wing you need.

meh, you can use the Orions as VTOL with sufficient pulse unit variety and lack of need to actually land. Wings are for stabilization not lift.

I'd love to see you hyperedit one of these to Eve and launch it from there, that would be glorious (also might help with the burning up issues).

EDIT: Also have you tried tweakscale/KW rocketry? You can make engines as big as 15m, imagine that thruuuuuust! I made a 3 stage rocket leave Kerbol SOI (well, that was the direction) launching straight up from the pad using procedural parts a la 30m boosters and 15m LFO engines. With a lone probe core at the top.

No need to hyperedit, just get into orbit, aim at eve and full throttle for 5 minutes do some correction burns and warp the week to get there, braking burn then landing, your main problem would the touchdown.
