I learned that some tv shows have absolutely no logic... i.e. when it takes the show 30 minutes to unravel something I can figure out in 1 minute or less.

Today, and thanks to Xyphos who mentioned the movie *Batteries not Included here, I solved an old personal mystery, and learnt that its french title "Miracle sur la 8ème Rue" ("Miracle on 8th Street") is a reference to the 1947 Christmas movie Miracle on 34th Street. yay.

Today I learned the modes of actions of neurotoxic insecticides, just because I am curious of how they work, and because I am procrastinating doing my actual work...

Now I am surprised of the sophistication that went into the little cans of death that are sold widely to consumers. Technology becomes so much more exciting and interesting when you get to see and understand how they work.

I learned that MarkLogic can't do an HTTP post with binary data and that it must be encoded as a string and wrapped in a json array as post data. This made me very angry because I couldn't simply zip up a set of XML transforms I had just processed but instead had to strip them and rewrap into a string format.
