I just looked at the download, and am not sure which 3 configs you are referring to. I see 3 cfg files, are these three mutually exclusive:

Arkas_DistantObjectEnhancement.cfg
Arkas_PlanetShine.cfg
Arkas_ScienceDefs.cfg

The netkan for the Arkus would list the Kopornkis as a depends as well as any other mods this depens on

I'd be happy to help if you like. Feel free to contact me via PM or on this thread.

The 3 configs I'm referring to are not in /GameData/Arkas because they are cloud configs, they are located in the following locations

/Cloud Support/Low Cloud Cover Config/GameData/BoulderCo/Clouds/TWG_Arkasclouds_lowcover.cfg
/Cloud Support/Med Cloud Cover Config/GameData/BoulderCo/Clouds/TWG_Arkasclouds_medcover.cfg
/Cloud Support/Full Cloud Cover Config/GameData/BoulderCo/Clouds/TWG_Arkasclouds_fullcover.cfg

Uuh... I think there's something you all need to know. Once Kras is finished it will come with a cloud config. How would that work with CKAN?

I believe that by solving how to make CKAN work with the way the mod is packaged now will give me a decent idea of how to make Kras and it's clouds work with CKAN as well.

Big update! Unlike the other updates, however, this update includes Arkas too.

Cloud update:

Arkas: clouds have been updated. They are now less cover-ish, so it is possible to see the sunset or the moons, even with full cover. Beware, though, that this is only possible when there are clouds above you with a low density, otherwise you can't see a thing.

Also I was going to ask about what you said here.. Are you planning on releasing the new Arkas clouds alongside the moon's or separately?

Well, I think I'm going to undo the changes I've made. I tried to give the sandstorms a brighter color, but the result is that 50% of the sandstorms disappeared.

The only change I've made is in the 'fullcover' config:

CLOUD_LAYER
{
SAVED
{
body = Arkas
altitude = 40000
volume = False
color
{
r = 0.760
g = 0.698
b = 0.502
a = 1
}
main_texture
{
file = BoulderCo/Clouds/Textures/ArkasClouds/ArkasGlow
scale = 1
offset
{
x = 0
y = 0
}
speed
{
x = 0
y = 0
}
}
scaled_shader_floats
{
falloffPower = 3
falloffScale = 2.5
detailDistance = 0.00875
minimumLight = 1
fadeDistance = 10000
rimDistance = 1
}
shader_floats
{
falloffPower = 3
falloffScale = 2.5
detailDistance = 2E-06
minimumLight = 1
fadeDistance = 1000
rimDistance = 0.0001
}
}
}

What has been changed? The 'glow' is now much lower and fades more nicely. In the fullcover config, could you scroll down to the part about the 'ArkasGlow' texture (showed above) and change the altitude to 40000m? 'Cause that's what I wanted to fix. Yes, the fullcover config was the only one that needed editing, the others were fine.

Then, about Kras. I've got the atmosphere's color to work, but the 'color' starts really low (underground). How can I make the colored part of the atmosphere start higher up?

And yes, the cloud configs for Kras will be bundled with Kras and the other moons.

That packaging is perfect.

So, the way it would work is as follows:

Arkas netkan would install the main Arkas code

There would be a separate netcan for the lowcover, medcover, and highcover, each listing the other two as conflicts so that only one would be installed. Each one would reference the specific file for that Netkan. They would also list Arkas as a dependency, so that they could not be installed without Arkas.

If Kras is packaged in it's own directory, then that would be good. However, to avoid conflicts, make sure that the directory is called Kras and not Sido_Urania_System. The Netkan file can take files in a Kras directory and install them in whatever directory you select, including the Sido directory if that is where it belongs.

The clouds for Kras can be handled the same as the clouds for the regular Arkas clouds.

While this does mean a number of individual netkan files, they can all work off of the same download.

Okay, I need the Kopernicus knowledge of everyone here for a moment. I (sort of) got Kras' atmosphere to work, but there is one thing that still has to be fixed: the 'color height', or where the 'colored part' of the atmosphere begins. For instance, on the surface of Eve everything is purple while at 70km the 'purple part' is below you.

How can I raise the 'colored part' of the atmosphere? I want the color to start much higher up, but I have no idea how to do that.

Everyone, I have insane news! The moons are this close to being released!

I finally got Kras' atmosphere to work properly. The pressure keys work (so far it's atmosphere is a deep red clone of Arkas' atmosphere, but I prefer to fix the atmosphere color before I touch the pressure keys).

There is only one problem though: the atmosphere does not fade out nicely. I'm currently trying out some stuff to see if I can get that to work.

Also, Kras is the most detailed celestial body I've ever made with Kopernicus (biomes, atmosphere, science!). How it's like to be on Kras? Well, I'll get y'all some screenshots once I fixed the atmosphere and the clouds (the clouds were removing the color from the atmosphere).

But to give you all a sneak preview of what Kras will be like, this OST gives me the same feeling as Kras' surface does:

You mean this one?

-snip-

Indeed I do mean that one. :) Also based on the below PM I received from KillAshley I suspect he doesn't want the link open to public due to potential problems that may arise as a result, so please consider removing your link to it. If people are interested in using it they can PM KillAshley about it and I'm sure he'd happily provide the link.
have i ever given you my pressure curve calculator? might help make those atmospheres....

Yup he has it. :)

Oh, and another exiting announcement: I'm preparing to make a video of this mod for the OP...

Ummm, don't you mean "exciting" rather than "exiting"

Let me know if you'd like me to write a netkan file for you (for CKAN integration). I wrote one for Sido's pack, and that's been accepted and is now available.

I haven't had as much time lately to work on anything so that would be awesome if you could write the netkan file. :)

Just would like to let you know that I've written and submitted the netkan files to the CKAN project.

The CKAN project is being very careful with all the submitted planet packs, since there is a decent chance of things screwing up. So it may take a little while for this to become available.

Let me know if/when you add new things, such as new moons, etc, so I can get the files updated.

Just a heads up, Arkas is now available in CKAN

Question about the Arkas configs:

I saw this after testing the CKAN installer:

There are three different optional installs for Arkas, Low clouds, Medium clouds, and Full clouds. These need EVE installed, but apparently in EVE, there are the following configurations:

Astronomer's Pack - Clouds - High

Astronomer's Pack - Clouds - Low

Astronomer's Pack - Clouds - Medium

and

EVE High resolution

EVE Low resolution.

The resolutions I can understand, but am not sure of the relationship between the different Arkas cloud configs and the EVE clouds configs. Can you elaborate? If there is a mistake in the CKAN config, I'd like to get it fixed.

Thanks

The three diffrent configs are indeed named 'low' 'medium' and 'high', but they have nothing to do with the texture resolution, it has to do with the cloud density.

Why CKAN is confusing them with AVP? I honestly have no idea. I did use AVP as study though.

There is no confusion, just that the clouds require EVE, which then required AVP. and there are three different configs for AVP

The clouds are standalone, they don't need any of Astronomer's packs, so I wonder why CKAN says it does need them.

The CKAN people I was working with said they were needed. Are you saying they don't need the EnvironmentalVisualEnhancements mod?

Easy enough to fix if that is true.

Also, can you confirm if this works on 1.0.5?

Thanks

I don't have 1.0.5, but the packs only won't work if E.V.E doesn't work on 1.0.5, or E.V.E suddenly needs an entirely diffrent config file setup.

As for the clouds themselves, they need only E.V.E, not AVP.

Ok,

I think I just figured it out.

The Astronomer's Pack has an EVE config, which can be installed instead of the Hi/Lo EVE configs. If you look, you see that only one of them can be installed.

The author needs to change the setting on Kerbalstuff to make this install on 1.0.5

Alright, everyone! I just spent hours and hours playing 1.0.5 (and I immediatly made a mod that re-added the old Mk1 cockpit as the 'Mk1 Fighter Cockpit'), and I can safely say that E.V.E still works, so Arkas' clouds will work as well. As for the planet itself, I highly doubt the Kopernicus update that will fix some bugs with 1.0.5 will break the planet, so it's safe to say everything still works.

Has anyone noticed EVE has been updated for 1.0.5???
