How many of you are upgrading to Skylake?

The i5 6600k should be better for KSP as it has the highest clock speed. As the current ksp only has single threading for physics, raw clock speed is more important. However, with 1.1 and U5 multithreading then performance should be better in general.

You could also create a poll for this thread, should be under 'thread tools.'

As for me, i can't upgrade the CPU as i have a laptop, a pretty good one though.

Also, welcome to the KSP forums! :)

I recently upgraded to an i7-4790K, currently running at 4 ghz, I haven't yet tried overclocking this.

Besides, 1.1 will be out in the next few months, will be a big help when it does get out.

It's not just clock speed that's important. It's how efficient the CPU is at executing the various instructions. But in this case, given that he has an old system, this would definitely be a big help

im gonna at least wait for the tick this time around. i rather like my 4790k cpu and skylake is just a die shrink anyway. its better to upgrade when they come out with new architecture to take advantage of that shrink.

me too, exact same chip, so I won't be upgrading for a while

as always with chips (or any components) leave it as long as you can get away with because the longer you leave it the better the replacement will be.
