1.0.5 introduced this new "mouselook" feature, which, when active, causes mouse motion to rotate the camera view while no button is pressed.

Personally, I cannot stand this feature and it drives me up the freaking wall. I'm accidentally triggering it all the time, and it's incredibly jarring every time I do. I never trigger it on purpose, because it's a completely useless feature to me. If I want to rotate the camera, I hold the mouse button down. I don't want it to rotate when I'm not holding a mouse button, because that stops me from clicking on all the things I need to click.

It's actively interfering with my gameplay and I see no way to turn it off. I desperately wish they would get rid of this feature (or at least add a UI option somewhere to disable it).

And yet, I assume Squad must have had some reason for adding the feature. Maybe other people have more of a use for it than I do? Or there's some important use case I'm missing?

What do you think?

Okay, so found out on another thread that you actually can turn it off. Yay! :)

Disable "Double click mouselook" under Gameplay in the General tab of the settings.

Will leave this thread up, though, am curious to hear other folks' opinion of the feature.
Don't like it but you can disable it, so meh
Yes... but it's not obvious that you can disable it. I sure had no clue until someone told me.

Would be nice for disable-able features like this to have, for example, some sort of tooltip that pops up the first time it happens, that says "here's what just happened" with options for "okay, don't tell me again" or "disable it". Or something along those lines.

I'm not sure it is worth that kind of effort. I can't speak for others, but as a new player to a new game, the first thing I do is pour over all the settings. The only time I run into trouble is when something gets added like this, and it won't be long before all existing players know about it, so I don't think it's a big deal.

Im sure I read that it could be disabled and forgot but its gone as soon as I get home to shut it off. Causes all kinds of grief when using Precise node. Similar to other issues I have at times when scrolling with the mouse wheel changing my zoom when all I really wanted to do was scroll a list. Thanks for reminding me how to get rid of that.

Oh so it's a feature? I thought my camera was bugging out btween the frames and the game thought it was pressed all the time.

I like it. I use the same way to look around the cockpit in War Thunder, though it might be sometimes annoying in external view.
