• Let it die. It's pointless now.

Ok, I know there are a lot of threads discussing the removal of the Rocket Builder's Sub-Forum. But all of them are full of anger and hate. Guys, you have no idea how long the devs are spending on making our awesome game. Just chill.

I have already posted a thread on the RB sub-forum, but I thought I would reach out to all of the other builders in the SCE for there thoughts.

This thread is design as a more civilised (forgive my harshness) way of discussing the matter.

Using good ol' democracy, let's solve this once and for all.
Please, let's just vote on the matter, and if Squad decides to listens, then that's there own decision.

Please feel free to state your point, but rude, harsh, nasty, mean and unrespectful posts will not be tolerated.

Just to clarify guys, option three is not just for Zokesia Skunkworks, but more a general term for the bigger companies.

Please keep the heated discussions elsewhere.

Some of us, myself included, are partially responsible for the destruction of rocket builders... (And yes, I'm sorry for that)

However, removing it and merging it with spacecraft exchange won't change anything. For all of the old threads, I'm pretty sure we'll save all of the stuff worth saving. Edited by andrew123
I'm in the "save zekes' thread" camp. I would also support moving other high quality craft makers threads to the SCE. I would not move the predominantly RP based threads from the RB sub to the SCE.
Aww, thank you :3

I wish it could stay.
I just took an explore into the older threads. What I saw was posts of excited users happy to get their stuff into orbit, let alone off the ground (considering the version).
The RB companies shall be missed, and it's sad to see that more people want the RB to die...
I completely disagree with their thoughts, as I have seen many amazing Co.'s founded that have been a complete success.
One example of which is Zokesia Skunkworks.
Didn't you guys at one point in time download one of those amazing crafts from those guys?!

My 2 cents:

I think that the original thoughts about "Rocket Builders" was to provide a section where anyone could organize a single thread to share maybe sparse single craft from "Spacecraft exchange"...

... but for the most was just a strange series of posts fictionig some "real life companies", but really very few were, actively, providing a catalogue of craft, but rather crafting some strange roleplaying features where "immaginaries CEOs" only posted wall of text and actual very few KSP vehicles.

Not crying about the removing:

if any "rocket builder" is actually having a real catalogue of craft, it is possible to open a thread here on "Spacecraft Exchange", to summarize all their creations.

Simply it will be an "Hello, I'm --insert the poster's name-- and these are my various craft" + pictures/videos + craft's descriptions and links.

Easy and simply to read. Edited by Araym

It's not only possible to open a thread in the space craft exchange, but many builders have already opened personal showcase threads in the spacecraft exchange, good examples (IMO) being Majorjim's stock craft repository, and Cupcake's Dropship Dealership. Drop the 'employees' and 'partners' roleplay type stuff, and move on from there.
Whoa whoa whoa - why does Zokesia Skunkworks get special treatment?!? I personally think Para-Sci Applied Sciences Division is awesome and deserves to be saved even if everything else gets thrown out ;P
But seriously. The fact that's in the poll makes me suspicious.
I don't think ZS has received special treatment. Zekes had to start over on the spacecraft exchange the same as everyone else.

Read the OP. It says "Just to clarify guys, option three is not just for Zokesia Skunkworks, but more a general term for the bigger companies."

Well, it now says that, it was on the RB thread for this but I meant to add it to this one :)

Moving big showcases and company sized threads to the regular spacecraft exchange is going to push independent and smaller builds down the forum so less people will be able to see them. Keeping a separate forum for the type of things in the Rocket Builders just makes sense to me. For that reason i'm voting to keep it.

Actually... I believe I might have received some. I don't think it's that special of a treatment, actually, but since I was always a one-man thing, no RP was going on in the thread, and I asked nicely (and was open to some minor changes)... long story short, not everyone is starting over. Just the ones that for one reason or another couldn't be moved or haven't asked for the move in the first place, as far as I understand (mostly because of breaking the RP rules).

Which in my mind makes sense, plenty of people that put his "company thread"/"craft repository" in the spacecraft exchange instead of rocket builders. I was actually close to ask for a thread move anyway, since I rarely visited the old rocket builders.

Rune. I really hope no one feels offended here!

There's no point to it. Since the "companies" have no rep and no button to join then, guys does anyone know what cntl+c cntl+v is. I mean if you love your thread in rb then just highlight the op paste it into Microsoft word and then when the forums get ported make a new thread in SCE. Anyway no matter how much you ask squad will delete all threads in RB and you will never see them again. Deal with it.

It's cool, and a lot of awesome threads are there, and I would prefer that it stayed, but if enough history is preserved through stuff like showcase threads in the Spacecraft Exchange and Cryogenic Chambers deep in the Wayback Machine's Vaults, I think the RB might actually be able to die without me crying.

Well the final results are in, just before the Forum Closes.

Here are the results for both the SCE thread and the RB thread combined:

1. 34 (24.6%)
2. 54 (39.2%)
3. 22 (15.9%)
4. 13 (9.4%)
5. 15 (10.9%)

Thankyou all for the 138 total votes on this thread. It appears the majority of everyone decided it was time for the rocket builders to go.

I'm very glad I decided to find this out using a poll, and I found the results quite interesting, as I'm sure you will too.

Good bye RB.
RIP

As you said, the results are interesting, and can be interpreted in numerous ways. as it could be argued you that the side in favor of RB was split between 4 different answers, VS only 1 answer for the side against it. (Ex : "the please keep it" and the "it must stay, no matter what anyone else thinks" can be considered the same answer :) - with, as you stated, the "keep zokesia" in favor of keeping at least a part of RB.

One could interpret it as 60.8% if the voters would have been glad if it stayed at least - among the people who would have been at least glad it stayed, 41.8% can let it go - the remaining would have wished to keep at least a part of it :)

All in all, could be an interesting social experiment :) - and yeah, blurry boundaries for categories can do that ^^

Now, people are free to interpret the numbers as they want to :)

Ultimately, as some people could have been counted twice in your results (as it came from two threads) it represents only a fraction of the forum users :) Edited by sgt_flyer

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
