The Saga of Emiko Station - Complete

Just Jim

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, I'm running behind, sorry. I had to deal with a sick car all day, so I didn't get much done. Turned out to be a bad fuel sensor. But they can't order the part until Monday, so like it or not, I'm stuck here all day tomorrow, and I'll try and wrap this next chapter up.

No, would be that guy.

Oh yes, you have a hella lotta fans. Fun fact: When I came on here, I heard the name 'Just Jim' on a post made by I think either Draconiator or someone else... Anyways, as soon as I heard the name, I knew 'Dang... This guy is like a KSP GOD! (Sorta like Scott Manley or something) and I knew I had to find a way to know him! And here I am now, about 4 months later, talking to the man, the myth, the legend himself.

You are probably the most powerful person on the entire forums! (Besides the Squad staff of course (Don't smite me :0.0:)) and yes, it may be hard to wrap around it now, but trust me: You'll learn about how epic you are soon enough

Really?  Wow!  I don't know what to say, except thank you!

But I have to be honest, if anyone on here is most powerful, it's my buddy @Kuzzter. He's been doing this a lot longer than me, and also does a great job keeping an eye on the fan fiction area and keeping us all on topic... mostly...

Is there going to be a magic boulder showdown between green and red. ( fight, fight, fight)

I haven't really made up my mind exactly how it will play out, but I think yes, there will be some sort of showdown. That's actually a good term for it... a magic boulder showdown :0.0:

As things went completely out of control the need to fix alot of them came up, which meant I had no time to read on. Now I finally have some time again and I'm glad I didn't miss much on one side but at the same time disappointed to see that not much has happened story-wise, which u, Jim, are clearly not to blame for tho. I've also read the thing about ur misplaced spine, sounds pretty nasty.

And I'm stuck in this bloody mess called Germany again coz things went absolutely bonkers in the US.

Anyway, I'm hoping I can get a new computer soon so I can at least kill the time I have spend here flying some new air- spacecraft I already have in mind.

You know you are on a very nerdy forum, when a bunch of people starts seriously comparing who is more introverted.
A party? What's that? A crowd of people and loud music? No, thanks, I better go work on a spacecraft

But that's how it really is with fame in such medium - you often get better results focusing on what you are creating, not wasting resources on showing off.
Ahh, if only it worked this way in the so-called "normal" world. Then it would make much more real sense.

I wondered where you went. Sounds like reality hasn't given either one of a break recently.

But look at the bright side... if there is one... you didn't miss out on much...

Yes.. I am in fact a full order of magnitude MOAR POWAFUL than anyone else on the forum, FWIW, which is exactly nothing :P

But what I REALLY enjoy about @Just Jim's work, and the other writers', is that each one is doing something truly unique. These are all mission reports in the same game with much of the same settings and even some of the same characters, but the stories are wildly different. You cannot get awesome Lovecraft-ian horror/suspense/alien mindhopping anywhere but right here at Emiko Station!

Exactly this! I love the different approaches we see each writer doing with whatever it is they face in their game. Sure, the platform (Kerbal Space Program) may be the same but I love looking at the differences in craft, character treatment, and even the situational gags that each one has. I also want to thank @Just Jim and @Kuzzter for encouraging me to take a step into the world of serial story-telling...

OK, so I ended up playing (not) fun with cars most of the day. The verdict isn't great, but we'll survive.

As for the story, I did manage to get most of the chapter finished. But honestly, I'm not happy with it. It's just too short, and feels incomplete. So I'm going to go ahead and merge the next two chapters back into one. Screenshots will be easy, and I already thought of a fun way to bridge them together.

And it's been a while since we heard from ol' Thompberry (small spoiler...)

Thank you!  You, my friend, are the one that keeps setting the bar higher and higher. I'm just doing my best to jump over it.  :)

The funny part is I kept saying this wasn't going to turn into a Lovecraft story, but it did anyway.... more or less. If there is an afterlife, I hope H.P. is amused at how he managed to creep into this, despite my best efforts. That's just his style.... sneak in when you least expect it.

That's the most fun part of this, by far, knowing we've inspired other people to start writing! And some really good writing at that!

@Just Jim take your time a good author doesn't work well under pressure so do a good job and don't cave to the pressure fight back like a rocket engines combustion chamber holds it and controls the pressure use it to your advantage cliffhangers leave everyone wanting more.  Fly carefully.

Ahh... brings me back to the time I left a (near-literal) cliffhanger with Jeb falling off the top of the KSC flagpole. A lovely moment ruined by three pages of--

"Ehh, I dropped him off the VAB once and he was fine."
"Oh yeah? I dropped him from 3km up and he was BETTER THAN EVER!"
"You just need to land them on their heads."
"Hey, if he fired a gun downward would it be enough to make him hover?"

Good times, good times. :)
