[STOCK] US Army Jeep

Recommended Posts

I made this Jeep originally as a film prop so it was never intended to perform. After doing a bit of race car developing lately I decided to update it so that it not only looks the part but now it performs just as you would expect an off-road vehicle to. I have added nuclear power to keep the charge up and make long distance travel possible, lightened the vehicle while still keeping it’s chunky metal look, added light up brake lights, doubled the wheels and tuned the suspension to significantly improve on and off-road performance. No jets yet, what do you think, more speed?

Jeep looks ace dude!

Although I must be the only one who doesn't like Kerpaint..

It's not that bad, the colors could be better, but it does not affect stock builds like other mods, and it really can make the craft wow factor explode, see Azimech's Hind, that thing is awesome.

I totally see where you're coming from - it does tend to take away from the design of it.

But it's awfully fun for photos!

I would say that you design slightly differently, I find with KerbPaint I am not too worried about z-fighting, also I used solar panels for the windscreen rather than a frame of struts, it doesn't matter a great deal it still looks good without the paint, I probably would have made a couple of different decisions though.

Don't you like some colour in your life or ... you don't like the shoddy way Kerbpaint was implemented?

Personally I detest the fact stock gives us no freedom at all. KSP could be so much more pleasing to the eye. White is very functional and neutral but I never liked it.

Each to his own man.

I just think its a bit too 'not stock'. I much prefer seeing the craft as it was made.

Yep, it's on this same first page of these forum threads about 4 from the bottom http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/index.php?/topic/119654-wwii-bomber-vickers-wellington-mk-x/ I released it ages ago, I just did a paint recently, sadly it's not my best work and I wasn't really happy with it but didn't think I would go back and do any more on it, plus I had the Duna pack to finish.

Any chance of a picture of as it is, stock?

The inclusion of only a modded picture urks me massively.

Maybe one day ... you'll see something with colour as original instead of modded :kiss:

For you, made a few changes to make it more palatable without the paint.

Good man. Thanks! I genuinely think it looks better as is.

When it becomes stock I will stop seeing it as modded.

It does concern me in one way, when you paint it you do things to make it look better in colors, that does not necessarily translate into looking good stock. I think before you use paint you must finish the craft as well as possible, because paint will hide little niggly problems like z-fighting to a large extent.

I just went on a tour of all our jeeps/landrovers and it is amazing how we all took such different routes to attain the same basic shape.

Also MRS, I just saw your armed jeep rounds and they are almost the same as the BFG rounds I developed for my tank that pTrevTrev's used on his iron clads.

Tank may be coming soon, finally got a build I am sort of happy with, and it's about time I kicked it out of the hangar. May not be able to do the insane video I planned (shame as I composed some music for it, first time) but I will still do a semi amusing video (to me at least).

But can it be airlifted in a MK3 Cargo bay and ramp?

I found the mk3 cargo bay and ramp to be problematic, craft need to be quite narrow to drive in, this craft could probably be placed in the bay in the SPH and it could drive out, but you would have the devils time getting it to drive back in again.

I have another rover (narrower with a lot less parts) I use for cases where I want to get back into the bay.
