i could do recovery aswell if we dont finde anyone

Recovery requires you to work with Network and track where the capsule will land, then pick the astronaut and capsule and take it to a naval vessel nearby or to a base (preferably naval vessel). You will be in control of all burns relating to where the capsule will land, however you will have to work with EECOM and Guido to make sure it works.

I'll work on it this weekend.

we have a bunch of guys assigned to different roles, let's let them do it. Otherwise we're just watching numbers on a screen, which is boring.

For the new images and new positions, do you want me to go with the titles here or as I have done with the most recent batch, be as NASA oriented as I can?

Our names mostly draw from NASA so using our own titles should work, besides it will make more sense when people come here to find about their roles.

CAPCOM is technically outdated. NASA is now using Spacecraft Communicator in its place...

But everyone knows CAPCOM, no one knows Spacecraft Communicator...

Just like everyone in Kentucky calls every carbonated drink a "Coke" doesn't make it so...

Although NASA does use CAPCOM as the official acronym, it's now listed as Spacecraft Communicator. None of the new images I've created uses the acronyms because well, the very first batch I did (out of ignorance, really) used a mixture of actual titles AND acronyms, which is why we had FIDO and Flight Director images - (the first is an acronym, the second is a title). So for the sake of consistency, I have all the new images using the NASA titles rather than acronyms.

In my strange, caffeinated mind, it makes sense...

Capcom isn't really outdated, it's just unused. Capcom literally means Capsule Communicator and the last American manned space program using a capsule was Apollo, which was the last time a Capcom was used. We are using a capsule, so it's fitting to have a Capcom.

Besides, as Dman said, it's more widely known and has better appeal to the majority. Just stick to it.

Nuf said. (got to go recreate ONE image now... and so much for consistency)...

Just going to lodge my protest here and be done with it. Should I go back and recreate ALL the images to use their NASA acronyms for the sake of consistency across the platform? Just as you guys want a PERFECT launch and mission, I an driven to create PERFECT graphics...

Well if we use Spacecraft Communicator, I'm calling it SpacCom as its acronym (pronounced SpaK-Com), and something tells me it doesn't sound as good.

Believe it or not, the acronym CAPCOM remains in place, it is just that it no longer (according to the previously posted link I shared) means Capsule Communicator, but Spacecraft Communicator.

With each of the other positions, the acronym matches the job description, just with this one CAPCOM, it no longer does...

Here's the way I see it:

Capcom is a famous role in NASA. Most people know the role as that, and don't know Capsule Communicator or Spacecraft communicator are the proper names. If we use Capcom instead of CAPCOM, it eliminates the issue about the acronym, and we just make that the title.

This isn't a NASA launch. We aren't using all the NASA titles, and we're not using n-body physics. A little Author's License in the naming system won't kill anybody.

I am going to be beginning an outreaching branch of RSP dedicated to manned flight so RSP can stick to unmanned. This is will be for those who want to relive Apollo 11, 13 and Hermes missions to Mars and more. I will begin work for this starting on 4/10. Shortly after our first launch.
