In fact, I was able to crash the game without EVS:

  1. Make a simple craft with RCS thrusters (e.g. RV-105).
  2. Deploy it on the launch pad.
  3. Hover mouse over the thruster part.
  4. Crash!

It seems RcsSounds does something really wrong to the part renderers, and when the part's highlighter tries to start the game crashes. EVS triggers this issue only because it highlights the whole vessel on a scene load (i.e. the broken highlighter kicks in immediately on load). That said, this issue is not EVS related.

Why did I never think of that? :) And I was already wondering what a strange conflict this was. I will share your post on at the RCS Sounds thread.

If you don't have them then don't bother. Just try to run EVS on a pristine game setup. If it crashes again, please, provide the logs from KSP.log file (it lives in the game's root folder).

So I played KSP with only EVS with a newly installed game and it keep crashing so here is the KSP.log

The game crashed at different moments so I don't really know what is causing it

Well, from the logs I don't see what could probably cause the crash. Given it's a 1.2 version, which was released in December, 2016, I'd suggest it's something in your system.  If it was a common mod problem, it would affect many people till now. Try playing on a pristine game to check if it's a generic system stability issue.

I can't wrench a part on with KAS and EVS. Every time I click to build the part on it switches me to the target vessel instead.

Expand

Did you change the EVS binding? By default it's Alt+Click, and I don't remember anything in KAS that would require hitting this combination.

Is there a way to turn off highlighting?

Expand

Do you need to disable the behavior or the visual appearance? For the appearance just set the alpha component of the highlight color to 0. The behavior (i.e. executing the code that does the highlighting) cannot be disabled.

Didn't change. Wasn't holding alt, but 'x' for KAS. It was very frustrating to try to see attachment with EVS pop up message in the way.

It's very unusual. Could you please provide the KSP.log file? Also, a short video may help to get the context.

I was wondering if Easy Vessel Switch and Keep It Straight would interfere with one another, as what they do is similar.  (Posted in both topics.)

EVS doesn't change the camera mode, it only deals with the camera position and orientation. So I'd say there should be no issues.

Hi!

For some reason, EVS in my game randomly disables itself, and only reinstalling the mod brings it back again. Any idea how it happened?

My KSP.log is here if it's any help.

What do you mean by "disables"? The ALT key stops working? Or it works but the vessel doesn't change on click? These are two different issues with the different possible reasons.

Also, from the file I didn't see anything. It has records only before loading into the main menu. EVS could not potentially work in these scenes. Ideally, I need a log right after the EVS stopped working.

I mean the complete functionality of EVS disappears. Neither the ALT key, nor the O or the F7 does anything, as if the mod just uninstalled itself (the files in GameData are still in place meanwhile). And it happens randomly when I switch to another vessel, and stays off from that point on.

BTW, how do I generate a KSP.log file that contains in-game data for you? The issue doesn't crash the game so I'm getting no output log from it.

Thanks!

@IgorZ This mod. this mod is the best. I love this mod!!
Seriously, if I don't have this installed it feels like KSP is broken. My favourite thing is being able to aim the camera with o+click (I've ended up binding 'o' to a side button on my mouse so it's a one handed action). So much better than having to open the context menus to change focus.

I was wondering; would it be possible to have a similar "focus on part" action when in the SPH/VAB editor interface? I know there isn't a stock context menu option to do this, I don't know if that would make this harder to do, but it would be super useful. It would probably have to be a different key binding that doesn't involve left or right click. F for focus would be great....I think F isn't bound to anything in the editor).

F toggles the mode of the rotate/offset gizmos between absolute/local. I would be in serious trouble if that one gets conflicted with other functions.

oh, derp, yes of course. One of those keys that get used constantly but you don't even think about which key it is!

Interesting question. What I learned during my modding "career" is that the editor is very different from the flight scenes. So I;'m pretty sure it will require extensive investigation and coding. But it's worth trying. Created a feature request.

It is not so much the highlighting that I object to as much as the 'part highlighting' which tends to leave a part highlighted when loading a vessel or changing the camera rotation or zoom. I then have to use the 'special key' + mouse roll-over to turn it off.
