I don't understand these comments.

I wanted to type, "Then don't reply to them", but I decided not to as I would be acting a little hypocritical.

Just because someone plays a game on a console they will suddenly stop playing a game because it has a bug/issue?

I didn't say that at all, again your words. You know that "Suddenly" and "Half-life" have two different meanings, right?

Why just console players?

Uhhh... because they were included is in this thread topic perhaps?  My post included references to both.

These comments are almost offensive.

Glad to hear it - I try to avoid actually being offensive.  Unless however, you are referring to your own comments, in which case I'm sorry - I misunderstood.

Because I play on PS4/Wii U I'm a infant that can't wait for a fix?

You said it, not me. Not really sure what point you are trying to make with such an admissive question. Can you clarify?

If this was true almost all games would be abandoned. Bugs happen all the time and eventually they get fixed.

I can only assume you have not been around KSP for a very long time and have little appreciation of the more than a few nasty and bothersome bugs that have persisted. In nearly all modern games there are bugs, and there are likely very very few games (PONG maybe?) that have no bugs at all (actually in PONG they are probably REAL live bugs nesting on the very old PCBs).

Most games on PC and console deal with this with players coming back for more.

Perhaps you are correct, but just because most people don't faint at the sight of blood doesn't mean no one does.

I cant believe I responded to this (guess I needed something to do whilst stuck on a damaged train awaiting repair Zzzzzzz...)  But to be fair, I wanted to set the record straight regarding your comments to my comments - and any likely comment follow (to which I will not respond further)

That was fun, but in a painful way - however, I strangely find myself feeling like I was channeling my inner @regex on this post. Kinda cool actually.

Peace out!

Isn't that exactly what I said?

Sorry, I was just adding a event where Squad said it. I was enhancing your comment. :)

Haha, well at least we had a somewhat civil conversation. :)

It doesn't matter though buddy. I can't speak for everyone, and I shouldn't try. But I can say that I'm very excited for the PS4 and Wii U versions. I'm not the kinda person easily pushed away by bugs so I'm in this for the long haul. I look forward to a great game and being apart of this community.

With KSP launching this month on PS4 and Xbox One, how many of you guys think the game will die very quickly without mod support?

Sorry, I never did actually answer this. My opinion is it will be fine. Because most of the players purchasing it will be new to the game and won't have every experienced any mods for it.

Just because it's unstable on PC doesn't mean it'll be unstable on the console versions. They are going to being different versions that are built for a specific console that can't be modified. That last fact alone should mean it might run a little more stable on console since there aren't hundreds of software combinations to worry about.

They are the same game, based on the same version of Unity, they will have similar problems.  Especially the wheels, that is as system unspecific issue.

The thing is that KSP does not handle memory well, or maybe it's Unity either one. Consoles do not have enough RAM to use mods.

One and PS4 has 8 GB, yes not all is free for the game, graphic, os and crap-ware eats 3 so you are left with 5 or more than we had before 1.1
PS3 and 360 only had 512 MB, who was low even then they was released and became an serious straitjacket over the years.

Yeah I guess 5GB is a fair bit and could support a few mods.

You know fall out 4 has mod support for consoles so they could do that

Difference, KSP uses DLL for plugins, and have loose files for parts, DLL can do anything, that is why you have to supply source code for them, you would not be allowed to install them on consoles.
Fallout uses 1 or 2 files for all and script runs in an internal script engine.

Whoever states that console gamers are less patient has never player GTA Online on a PS3. Even on the PS4 it takes 30-60seconds to load between EVERY event, server change, session change, every new mission, race or thumbwrestling game.

EDIT: On topic I'd like to assure you that the console version might give KSP a bigger boost than expected. Being on the Store there does mean that a lot of people, who are not in Steam, will get a glimpse on the game. There are also quite effective community features and streaming options on the next gen consoles. I am sure that those will be very helpful for people trying to go orbital, dock or go interplanetary.  On behalf of how the game will work out in vanilla on consoles, I tried a vanilla game the last months. It is possible to play. I do agree though that beginners might need a little more help. Yet I also played NBK 2k16. This game comes close to KSP in basketball terms as it drops you right into the shark pond without any tutorial or explanation or feedback why your play never works. I guess console players will wiggle through this on KSP as well.

  • 4 months later...

I have this game on the PS4, not on the PC... I've been playing this game for about 2 months now, even after about 7 corrupt data career modes and constant freezes in menus and launches, Also, if I might add the game literally crashing my system... Mostly everyone on this post is a PC player, I mastered the art of using a controller with this game... Linking space station parts, adjusting the apoapsis all with a joy and R and L buttons... And I spent 40 bucks just like the rest of you... So for the PC community bashing us console players for a game that I payed for just like you did, with the assumption that since the game is on the playstation store that it wouldn't shut my system down, that it wouldn't freez every time I try to build a craft, that after I attach a module to a space station that I can go back to space center instead of needing to close the application and loose all progress, that when I load up my game that all my data is corrupted, lastly I payed for a playable game... This is not playable... I've sent 3 emails to KSP support, not one reply... I even asked if I can trade the ps4 version for a pc copy... No reply... I asked for a refund... No reply... But I guarantee that if you pc players send an email to the support team, they reply...

Not saying you are, but beware becoming the "vocal console minority" that was mentioned a few posts back. And I'm not saying your wrong, because your issues do deserve attention. The "complete game" that console users bought deserves attention for it's shortcomings, and publicity to that effect. Should you become a hot head about it, or alienate those that may agree with you because they are a PC user, you only hurt yourself and others that are sitting on a broken console version. My unsolicited advice: don't become a flamer, it will draw attention from the issue. Inciting arguments by saying that PC users are better treated will only serve to alienate, no matter if it's true. Furthermore, consider talking to Paper Tiger (I think that's what they are called - the people in charge of the console port).
