Since the small ISRU allows surface attachment, so should the large one

The small ISRU allows surface attachment (attachment to its own surface) but the large one doesn't. I'd like them to be equal in this respect!

The large one if your talking about the convertor is too big for surface attaching, unless you mean bolting things to IT and not bolting it to the surface of other stuff

this, radiators especially also as it will be unique its smart to put in center of an stack with fuel tanks on the outside. current options is to mess around with the pancake tanks to make an base then the isru and tanks on top.

Hmmmm ... surface attaching the largest & heaviest fuel tanks works so why would the big ISRU be too large?

@Azimech Tanks are smooth and have walls, that converter is neither smooth nor has viable walls.

Yes, it should be in 1.2! Its an easy fix. Definitely not too complex for the Squad squad to change.
